Banished being considered a classic now makes me feel very old. I remember being excited to play this game when it was first announced.
Yep. ..... Fuck
This dude spent 10 years, made a classic game, made more then enough to live on for the rest of his life and walked into the sunset. To be honest I think that's pretty baller.
He actually passed away.
Banished was a good game back then. It still is now with all the mods, but I just wish the devs didn't just up and vanished.
the dev for banished, vanished how poetic.
He actually died
They made their money, and they retired. That's the dream.
Banished was perfect. Instant classic
Ah Banished! Such a classic game that almost always ends in starvation and death. I was just playing this a month or so ago.
that game was brutal. I have vivid memories of reaching 1000 pop and how many tool crisis and death spirals I went through.
You need to build up a stockpile of food before you start expanding by building loads of homes. Each home need their own food supply and the villagers can only eat at their own homes or the storage barns. Some of your houses probably had loads of food in them, which means others will starve. Banished is the kind of game were you can't rush.
At the start of the game, build a gatherer's hut just near your base and fill it up with 4 people, and you are good to go.
Banished made a big splash the year it was released and it's still a great game. It was one of the most popular games of 2014. I don't believe the manor lords game was made by a single person and he tried to emulate Banished. If I were to compare the two games, my choice would be Banished.
Manor Lords looks gorgeous and I think that is distracting people from the fact that there is much less underneath than in comparable builder games. Like he said, no fish. But ML has no waterways at all. When in those times, rivers and waterways played a vital role. Towns and villages tended to grow up around rivers, fords and ports. But ML has none of it. And all those identikit families of husband/wife/son. Every region having exactly 1 deer, 1 berry resource and .. and .. ML clearly has potential, however the hype from streamers is ridiculous, there are so many things missing and broken that they fail to mention..seduced by the graphics?
Banished is an absolute masterpiece. I gave it another go with mods about a year ago (first time I played it since 2015) and have since blown about 500 hours on it.
Banished is great. I wish it had some sort of threat built into the game such as indian raids or tribes to trade with or fight perhaps. Other then that little element of conflict, I loved the game and it is the original manor lords for me.
What I liked in Banished more than Manor Lords is that the villager have to clear trees and stones if you want to build on it. Also the villagers build the road you place.
There's only dirt road tbh. Which shouldn't require build time.
@@userchannel6237 I disagree and it should
This game is awesome! I played it a looong time when it was released. That make me want to play it again 😃
I'd like more "Banished way" implemented in Manor Lord, like age, birth and death, weather, cold etc... it would be nice
Sheep and fertilisation seems to be broken on manor lords
Yeah, Banished has some problems. It's influence is incredible though, I've been calling Manor Lords, Banished: Total War. Though actually depending on how the castle building gets implemented it's probably only a stones throw to the direction everyone was hoping the Stronghold franchise would go.
Manor Lords does have some cool new concepts and combinations of old concepts though, I'm really hoping it, some stuff I'm not a huge fan of but I'm hoping it'll have decent mod support because it's the kind of game that modders could really sink their teeth into, survival builders seem to be a really awesome playground for modders. Look at Banished, Rimworld, Factorio. 24-25 should be an exciting period for the genre
I'd really like the survival aspect to be harsher in ML, the thing i loved about Banished was how easy it was to totally mess up and everyone dies.
Play FACTORIO, is very nice
HAA, playing on easy mode.
Firsttt
Never cared to play Banished didn't see the point.
Cool story. Thanks for sharing.
Manor Lords was overhyped, It is simplistic, boring, and small.
Cool story. Thanks for sharing.
Players that played banished have 0 hate of the game
She is Gold
But manor lord 🤌🤌🤌
