The pinchi shoe part made me realize something.. In ancient China.. Higher class women would basically wear small shoes which it calls foot binding.. It modifies the size of their feet and it's a symbol of status back then... Man.. That would have hurt walking around with it
No worries, on Mulan's time, probably Tang Dynasty, there's still no such thing as foot binding. The Next dynasty, Song Dynasty, during this time, Foot binding becomes a painful tradition to some han woman.
@@jhengleone I forget exactly when it’s supposed to take place but Xiran Jay Zhao figured out the exact year based on hints from both movies. It’s in their Mulan 2 review where they talk about the different historical bits and pieces. I highly suggest their videos. They do ones in general Chinese history as well.
omg I just watched Mulan 2 last night on the fourth. This song also makes me think about myself and my personality,Thank you for making this song!!!!!!🎉🤓🌹⚜😁🙂😇👯👼👑👑👑
if you watch some kdramas with ancient concepts you would actually see some girls who do pretty much whatever they want or work in a way they like and some female royalties that need to maintain grace
Sadly royalty has to follow strict rules and can't be free from the rules sure being a princess can be good but at the same time don't you want to choose your own life?
I used to love this movie as a kid, and of course I still like this song, but it’s so Westernized to the point it makes me kinda mad. Wouldn’t it have been cool if they’d fought for women’s rights instead? If they realized that other girls aren’t actually free at all?
@@cutleyaurilxna9424 Yeah... It is a kids movie, but the first Mulan was exactly about this: if the kids got it the first time around, I bet that they would have understood the second time as well, don't you think? I mean, this saga literally contains war, racism, suicide and murder already... I shipped them with the soldiers too, but I am pretty confident that it is something kids can handle.
It´s funny how I like the beginning. The serious music, the sad but true lyrics. And the rest of the song just... isn´t all that interesting to me. :')
No it isn't. In first world countries, mgirls have more freedom than they've ever had but in countries like Saudi Arabia like the other commenter said, yes girls are still held back. But don't say this still applies like it applies everywhere.
THAT IS HIGHLY FALSE AS WOMEN HAVE MORE RIGHTS IN THIS AGE THAN IT WAS 100 YEARS AGO. THEY CAN WORK ALMOST ANY JOB OPPORTUNITES THEY CAN DREAM OF AND BE FREE WHEREVER THEY WANT ! ( Except for middle eastern countries ig and pay gap is still evident in several countries and treatment which I hope it ends already)
Funny song, first time I heard it only in Russian ( my language), when I was little, I watched "Mulan 2" on VHS with Russian dubbing, this is why I had not heard original before. I remember the time, my sister watched the cartoon on VHS with her friends, and I watched too. Good song and good cartoon! 👍👍
I'm glad you answered me on the thumbnail " like holding a lily" now I know after all these years lol. I watched this back in VHS days and I just turned 25 on December 30th sheesh time flies damn

Yeah it was disgusting, we learned that in year 11 when we were studying Mao

That’s why they didn’t want the punchy shoes?
I was going to say that. The girls were very lucky if they had feet to put those shoes on.
Love or hate Mulan 2
You can’t deny this song is a bop.
True that
I literally watched it with my sister. She's watched it more than me.That was my first time watching the second one
"TO EAT A WHOLE CAKE!"
Mood lol
Girls today: I’m not like other girls.
These girls: I WANNA BE LIKE OTHER GIRLS!

That girl singing ~To eat a whole cake with frosting~ is me
I've done that twice. I loved it.
I also ate a whole cake as a teen. My appetite of wild back then..
*L I K E H O L D I N G A L I L Y*
Loved this song and Mulan 2, I'm so glad she got a sequel 🥰❤️ the lyrics are so playful and i love the harmonies. Wish this song was longer.
They should of said this:
Hakuna Matata!
Round of applause for that one!
God bless you
UHAH yeah lol
The next thing you know, The three princesses will probably eat bugs.
nah not Su repeatedly wanting to eat a whole cake 😭
1:18 I had no idea what she said before this lol
Me too!
It says like holding a lily
Same here!
I thought they were saying a Chinese goddess for some reason.-.
lol in italian version they say "you aren't chic at all", I always wondered what they said in the original version
I really love Sue's voice when she sings "who could ever ask for more", her voice is just so pretty when she sings that part.
Who thinks that reminds you of the Schuyler Sisters?
PrincessGibsonGirl I thought of them when I watched Mulan last night 😂
omg I just watched Mulan 2 last night on the fourth. This song also makes me think about myself and my personality,Thank you for making this song!!!!!!🎉🤓🌹⚜😁🙂😇👯👼👑👑👑
I DOOOOO
Last time I watched this I was silently singing the Schuyler Sisters
but their dRESSES
THEY'RE THE WRONG COLORS
Me
Angelicccaaaaa
😂 where did they get the idea that other girls from ancient China could do any of these things??
Mulan, probably
The thought of that is so off from the reality!
It’s Disney what expect lol

IDC if mostly all classic Disney's movie sequels are bad, I love this movie and this is my favourite song!
I didn't like the second movie, but I do enjoy this song.
Why didn't you like the second movie? It was awesome!
LittleFreak The second movie was great!!
You should like it
I WANNA BE LIKE OTHER GIRLS
All rise for the tomboy anthem
Yes!😌
Yes
Yeeee
Yeah!!!!
✊✊
1:59 Just to be FREE like other girls, but still nice video :)
I love this song as kid.
Sadly royalty has to follow strict rules and can't be free from the rules sure being a princess can be good but at the same time don't you want to choose your own life?
If this was Nick news. It would probably be covering children of royalty how they love it but people who also are children of royalty hated
Someone should host a Wings of Fire MAP maybe where Glory, Sunny, and Tsunami are singing this in the cave when the guardians aren’t looking😂
I used to love this movie as a kid, and of course I still like this song, but it’s so Westernized to the point it makes me kinda mad. Wouldn’t it have been cool if they’d fought for women’s rights instead? If they realized that other girls aren’t actually free at all?
It ain't that deep
Nah. I shipped them with the soldiers. Its a kids movie.
Just like Pocahontas

Suus-Arido
tbh same, i've been listening to the beginning on repeat but i just cant get into the rest of it
I wish the whole song had been like the beginning. Would have been much better.
The rest of the song represents the fun & freedom that they desire but can't have
Same.
I understand the reason for the dynamic music switch, but I was really digging the intro tho! 😫😫
It's Mulan II and I love the first Mulan and second MulanII
the sad thing is that this is still inappropriate in the modern day.... :(
Well, not completely. In Saudi Arabia, yes. In Iceland, no.

Guys i think she meant china specific
