Even the second part of the solo is too fast, i need to see that at 25% speed. Thanks for clearing it up for me that the solo is way too difficult for me. Love to see some more david gilmore speed megadeth solo's haha
Dude I just read your description and I do the same thing. I'm constantly learning new solos, and when I'm done, onto the next one and I end up forgetting a lot. lol. Anyways thanks for posting this because I'm having a lot of trouble with the weird lick at the end. You know which one. So this should really help, because all the tab websites are close, but not correct. Makes it a lot easier to have a recording of someone playing over the slowed down recording, because it doesn't sound all messed up and weird. Oh and nice guitar btw. I have an LTD M403 HT as well as a Jackson Dinky arch top in black. I have a bunch more, but those are my nicest ones. The LTD is very similar in color and the fret inlays are in the same spots as the one you're playing. Mine is light tan like yours with black hardware. Mine has a flamed maple type of top. But I really really like the paint job on yours. Its awesome.
yes ! internet is a great tool to share knowledge. when I transcribe songs to do a cover, I publish them on my channel and if it can help others, that's great :)
Damn you are on a Megadeth spree ! Love it ! ;) Those video are really helpful (although I'm not really at the level where I can play Marty solos unfortunately) Do you like Testament as well? Alex Skolnick had some really amazing solos as well, less fancy/exotic than Marty for sure, but some are memorable, like Electric Crown for instance.
Man, Marty is one of my all time favourite players, and his playing in Megadeth was just incredible. I thought I owed it to myself to do every solo from this album (one more to go, then it's on to Countdown!). I was never very keen on Testament, but I know they have amazing solos. I'll take a listen to the song you suggested. And thank you for the kind words and watching the videos. And don't count yourself out without trying them, man. Just start slow, get comfortable, then speed up a little. But don't focus/worry about the speed. The important thing is to get the flavour and feel (at least, that's the interesting challenge for me).
How did you guess i liked Petrucci?! ;) Mostly the obvious ones, really. People like Vai, Satch, Holdsworth, Gambale, Garsed. For the newer guys, Per Nilsson, Marco Sfogli, Andre Nieri (scary good), Alex Machacek. Recently discovered Andy Timmons, too, and wow, what a player!
@@LeeCassidy if I may I'd like to ask you, how many hours did it take you to get to that stage and speed and what was your learning process for that solo?
@@JohannesKrauser I used a program called Transcribe. You can slow things down without the quality degrading. Very useful. With this solo, I spent several hours trying to hear as many details as I could, as well as watching live videos of Marty playing it. It's not perfect, but there are some phrases/licks in this that I really like, and many cover versions seem to get wrong (the arpeggio before the fast economy picking, for example), and hopefully I'm at least getting those parts correct.
Coral lilith it's not too difficult if you're already comfortable with economy/sweep picking. As you sweep from the B string to the E, you get to do a little muting as you go. But it also shouldn't be making too much noise, anyway. You shouldn't have to work too hard. Sorry if that's not helpful.
I'm guessing you mean the part at 1:24, the fast part of the solo? If so, yes, it's sweeping/economy picking. The bit at 2:14 is basically just the start of the solo.
Would you say this solo is harder than Skin 'o my teeth solo? Torn between which one to learn next after I've finished with Lucretia. I know it's probably a tricky question to answer, both sound harder than Lucretia though that's for sure.
ESPSJ I think Lucretia is tougher than both of those solos, but I'd say Skin is the tougher one of the two. This one only has a couple of tough bits, but it is such an iconic solo, it's worth learning.
Tornado Of Souls by David Gilmour

In Marty's own words: playing slower stuff is even harder because you are gonna notice every little imperfection.
Well done to you mate!
The sentiment is definitely appreciated, but I promise you, I find it a LOT easier to play Marty's stuff at half speed lol
So true. I fell the same whilel covering Gilmour's solos. So slow and intricate!!
That's why Marty plays so fast. He's actually just cheating 😂😂
I can play it at 0% speed
same
Me too.....

I can play it really well in the air
just doubled to speed and vibrato's are crazy
Zakk Wylde style

I remember during the 80s when i got walkman and the battery is weak and the solo sound the same😆
But Rust in peace was released in the 90`s

You can slow the video down to 50% speed in the player controls for some extra Gilmourism!

Gentle Breeze of Souls...
This is an amazing resource. Thank you.
I feel like Jp's Ibaneze's are making a comeback as of lately. great vid/playing
Nicely done mate.!!
Im learning it with this thanks!
Whoa im gonna try practicing it like that, thx for help!
very useful for people who are learning the solo
th part after 3:48 still haunts me
It is uncomprehensible and everyone plays it differently. Marty included. So random.
Thank you dude, this is what I was need all this time
Btw you can get the normal speed on 1.75 or 2x if that’s your preferred one
Normal speed is 2x. The track is slowed down to 50% here.
Now 150℅ speed
That's wath i was looking for...!
Thanks!
Sensacional... Interessantíssimo essa forma de passar os solos da guitarra... Parabéns pela criatividade!!!👏👏👏👏🤘😎
Wonderful mate!
Nice clean playing dude.. also nice guitar!🤘🤘
This feels so right

Try and play it back this video twice as fast, it looks pretty cool.
Very insightfull! Thanks man!
Subbed... Loved it... Finally I can learn this solo full..
Kaiser Em Syn that's great to hear it helps. It's not 100%, but it's fairly close. Post back if you do a video. And thanks for subscribing \m/
Lee Cassidy I will... And I think your solo is accurate ...😊 thanks again..

I can t play the end of the solo...is very weird ( amazing of course) tabs? Pdf?
Great job!
The vibratos at x2 sounds strange but nice
1:45 for my own reference
wow his pickhand is opposite of marty friedman
Great job man! Can you tell me what pickups you have on this guitar?
Thanks. It's an Air Norton in the neck and a Steve's Special in the bridge. These are the stock pickups for this model.

i came here and play the vid on x2 speed , so damn smooth
thanks, another life juz happened 👍
At 2x speed it’s Marty with Kirk Hammett vibrato

how did you avoid noise on 12 fret in fast part before ending section? i know that marty isn't muting strings at all, so how to do it?

1:24 whats this technique called
That's economy picking. Some might call it sweep picking, too.
On 2min14, it's a kind of sweeping on 2 strings ? Not alternate picking ?

Broo i need Your tabs, thats not the same at UltimateGuitar
Sorry dude. I don't have tabs. I do this stuff by ear.
i need to stop smoking weed.
Lmao I was thinking the same shit right now 😆 and I’m a drummer 🥁
It at 1.5 speed it hits
2x It is normal
Can you please slow down
very difficult solo
2x speed is little faster than normal
I played this video at 1.7 x speed 😂

Omg you're right.

X2 speed

Sell me that guitar.
Never!
you made a video playing it at 50% and then mess up the whole WTF lick which is the reason we were watching in the first place lol
Many mistakes spotted
1 hour a day for the next year of my life and I will learn this solo. First I need an Ibanez.
Everyone needs an Ibanez.
