Just wanted to let you know I ordered the radio after your video. I'm just waiting for my mobile antenna. I'm from Carson Valley Nevada. I'm think I am going to test for ham tech at the end of the month. Budget radio for now. I first got my CB FCC license when I was 13. Go figure now 60 and do it again. Thank you for your reviews!

I love mine, bought two and gave the wife one. Reading the directions is a good idea, but as a new operator I had no idea this had auto squelch, what a difference it makes, unfortunately you will scan onto some weak signals and it will still try.

Actually, the hardware is manufactured in same factory ( Nanfone , from Xinwei Technology Group China). Different names and and small differences in appearance (display color, illuminated buttons or not, location of the microphone connector) according to the order, but you will find CRT (France), PNI HP (Romania) Albrecht, Alan Midland (Germany), Anytone in the same forms, and if you look at the boards, they are similar. The firmware sometimes differs. the localization of the product was done in the importing countries, here it comes from the packaging, firmware, final adjustment. because in the West labor costs and prices differ. PNI HP 6500 is same as CRT 2000 Millenium, but HP6500 has a newer firmware.

I'm just considering changing my vehicle. Currently I drive a freelander which has quite a spacious interior.
Therefore the CB I currently have in there is not at all intrusive (NATO 2000/mk1Lincoln) the vehicle that I am looking at is not necessarily small but is more let's say executive style and as such I don't think my current CB's will be as asthecutively pleasing plus location would be an issue as I don't want to be drilling into the panels or console. This little thing however will sit absolutely perfect in one of the little cubby slots near the driver's door.
So yet again Fred. You did good bringing this to our attention. Yes I have had in the past a crt one but completely forgot about it.
Just one last point there is a mic mod to fit a power mic but it does mean cutting the cable. I will be going this mod to use my Kpo NM531 which is also modded with buttons for up/down ch change. 👍👍

    Hi.
Good, concise video review, but, a couple of things if I may.
    1) With reviews like this, I always think it would be really useful to get an audio recording of THIS radio/mic as received at one or more of the receiving locations. That way, WE could also judge the audio as received by them. All too often someone will give a good report for fear of upsetting the sender etc.
    2) It would also be useful to know what antenna you are using, and what the VSWR was. I mean, an 8mile contact is not exactly marvellous is it?
    Regards Mark in the UK

Hi Fred in the Shed, I enjoyed the video but I think the £50 pricing is misleading. After watching the video I followed the link you have provided to purchase the radio. The current price of the radio today (19 July 2023) is: Radio £52, shipping £8, Estimated Taxes £12 giving a total cost of £72. Hard to believe that this radio has increased in price by over 40% (once you add on the shipping and taxes) since you first published this video. I'm sure your intent was never to mislead your subscribers over the cost of the radio, which I appreciate you have no control of. Thanks again for another enjoyable video.

I just bought one from Amazon, here in the USA (Nevada), for $41.99 on Prime Day.
Does anyone here know if the ones with an FCC ID (2ARTJ-CB27) can be modded for extra channels and more power?
I'll be opening it up to look for the relevant bridgeable solder pads, as soon as I can round up a set of special screwdrivers (my good set is at my folks place in Florida).
I am a Ham, so although this mod would make it no longer legal to transmit on the CB band here, it SHOULD still be legal to transmit on Ham bands.

@@CB-RADIO-UK No, it is because CB radios in the U.S. needs to be type certified, only the 40 channels and power levels adhered to.

Hi. There should be no risk of interfering with the hospital with a 6900. The freqs the radio uses is no where near what a hospital might use. its more likely they will interfere with you giving off noise that you will pick up as a high background static.
