Seems like a wonderful armed nuke. Great if you can keep every impulsive, shortsighted, evil, moron away. But we're talking the SCP here. That is damn near their employment criteria.
Well, “safe” doesn’t mean harmless, it just means easily contained. For example, an SCP can be bloodthirsty but still “safe” because it cannot escape. On the other hand, an SCP can be completely harmless but still be a keter because it can’t be contained. I get what you’re saying though.
Yeah I had a goof, I meant the harmless ones.
That's why SCP-1230 is one of my favorites. It's such a nice story, besides the suicide and everything

So really, this should be as SCP-001 candidate.
I don't think so, there are many other scps with greater capacities than this, and they aren't even close to candidates for SCP-001.
It not just the incredible potential of an SCP that makes it a 001 candidate. It is its ability to “Play nice” with other 001 candidates. This one could really get along with any other SCP without needing its own specific cannon.
@@Mcaark . . . except that makes The Foundation extremely kind/stupid for NOT using its information to track down their enemies (or get insights about human_born current SCPs/instances).
-> It is the opposite of "nice" with other proposals, as it can only exist on "Alpha" Worldlines where _"The Foundation"_ dominates without oposition (while most of the Wiki seems to be "in flux" around "Beta" Worldlines with an inminent NEXT GREAT WAR).
Hints 4001. Why call scp 001 scp001 ;J
@@adolfodef let's not forget the library is "LETTING" them be there in the first place, remember it's "ALIVE" with a "CONSCIOUS", if you do anything it sees wrong or disrespectful, it will do something.
18:02 I think she got lymphoma again after two years despite the "permanent" recovery in her book because all of our atoms and cells in our body are replaced around that often, so the *her* that was "permanently cured" is different than the "new" *her* that had the recurrence of cancer
The atomic structure of our bodies changes rougly in 7 years not 2. SOme sources state that it is about 5 years and some that it is 10. So 7 is a preety good estimate, 2 is way to short.

Alexandria Eternal, The Wanderers Library and Three Portlands are on my paranormal visitors list.
Me too, plus daleport

Between theopoles, the loss of an entire species, the messing with the dead, and the loss of personnel to petty grudges (oh yeah, Marvin and Molly) this has to be the most somber scp since where the dragons went.
As a history lover, I would love to visit this SCP.
Imagine all the things you could learn about yourself that you were either too young to remember or simply mis-remembered. "Holy crap. That massive fight really was my fault."
Just make sure not to mess anything up. You never know with the library, even if it fixes the changes at some point.
I'd personally love to learn about those who were steamrolled over by the victors of history, the secrets of those who were able to write those stories and use them as propoganda, learn those secret fears and unusual aspirations of those who came before.
Fuck yeah
Everyone always talks about the changes you can make. I'd rather be sitting at a cozy nook reading the life story of every famous person I found interesting then going downwards until I'm reading about the common folk. Any history lover worth the name would immediately claim the library as a God to be honored and worshiped.

I like how the library watches and judges you. Be nice to the library or it’ll remove your book. And if the foundation is smart they can find the true identities of say 096, and 049. Great reading!

*Cracks open a d-class head with knowledge*
This is probably one of my favorite SCPs. The simplicity of all human history being contained in one anomalous library is such a cool concept.
I assume it functions similar to the Akashic Records, only it doesn't show the future.

"I'm going to be honest, we're just throwing Science at the wall here and seeing what sticks." - The O5 Council.
Think it takes a lot more thought and effort to write SCP's that simply read as nice short stories and don't end horrifically. Challenges the writer more I feel.
Jump scares and nightmares are easy. Intriguing and unique is much harder.
Psychological horror takes effort too
Writes in book: " was spontaneously struck with a revelation about some basic rules of the library, as much as he could handle knowing." boom. I swear, the foundation has a fetish for sacrificing ppl needlessly.

A re-write for life on earth, found in potentially the oldest “building” in history. This article is amazing, while it should be a 001 proposal, the number it has lets it stand out.
Alexandria Eternal is by far my favorite SCP that I’ve ever read, and it’s pretty baffling that this wasn’t the SCP-001 of its series. And this specific SCP was the reason I got so deeply mesmerized by the universe and possibilities of the SCP world, and I’m sure many share my experience. I feel if an SCP movie is ever made this would have to be one of the subjects or scenes covered during the plot if not a main plot itself. I’ve been waiting for someone to cover this concept properly and I’m glad The Exploring Series did. TES being the most clearest and visually entertaining channel for SCP binging. Some of my favorite stories are the experiments with changing or creating new books of fictitious people like Henry Adams who appeared just to die terribly. Molly the Cataloger and Marvin the Retriever robots that Alexandria Eternal assimilate into the library after Theopolis the Watcher who passes after seeing the sky again and a final duo are finally found to tend to Alexandria Eternal’s books and “appreciate” her for the rest of time. Giving them a book amongst other beings in Alexandria Eternals universe. A truly great piece of literature that could be adapted into its own series with endless possibilities.
The story of Theopoles seeing the sunrise again after 2000+ years of living in the library and entrusting the library to the foundation before passing on is just such a beautiful story...

Disagree with this comment. Love all the cosmic horror stuff. But the thing that makes me love this SCP is that this is not another edgy, indestructable "hate everything" SCP, and the whole concept makes me interested in it.
I like the balance and chemistry between the SCP foundation and the Library in this. Like a patient Parent and a curious child.

the library from Pagemaster is a manifestation of this SCP or a close relation of Alexandria Eternal
I feel like this, alongside 468, has to be my favorite SCP. I have deep respect for history, so an SCP that has a perfect record (well, as perfect as it can be without being edited) makes me happy.
The idea of the library reminds me a little bit of Palace in the video game Echo. I mean, in the sense that Palace is also alive (though, through AI), is more vast than the eye can see, and is glamorous in appearance. The difference is Palace seeks to kill the player, so...
I wonder if its related to the wanderers library
It'd be funny if they were rivals lol

Legit probably.
Alexandria seems to have a legitimate personality that wants to be appreciated but properly respected while always in a single place. The Wanderers Library is a constantly moving and shifting pocket dimension with the ability to subjugate people to become it’s librarians if they try to damage its halls and books while instead of having all humans history (like literally all humans life as books) contain all books.
Alexandria is tsundere while the Wanderers Library is more kuudere with some sadist tendencies.

Given the tone you read these in, the general way you enunciate, so forth- it's always hilarious to me when you make pop-culture references. "Insert Death Note reference here," love it.
(In general, I love your narrative voice- very calming, relaxing. You also do a good job at emoting while directly reading certain texts- e.g. interviews, quotes, personal notes, letters, etc.- while maintaining your clear enunciation; add on the subtitles, and I'm not only very impressed, but also very appreciative- thanks for being spectacular at this, and for making an effort to be clear and easy to understand, including subtitles for most/all of your videos)

I literally almost cried with the music. The images are excellent and the narration unspectable. Grande The Exploring Series
Man, I love your videos, They always relax me. Whenever I'm learning about Horrors or scp's are any of the stuff relating to that, I just love how the information is being told to me. So calm relaxed yet also. Very informative
I want to thank you for covering these. It helps me relax, with the music and your voice it is always so mysterious. I am an artist and it helps me think and create. I hope you continue to make these ☺💗
I gotta read this SCP but as a side note imagine having to have the iron will to resist torching the books of history‘s greatest tyrants and mass murderers, I mean we’ve all heard the question “if you could go back in time and kill Hitler would you”, with this SCP you could skip the time travel and possibly prevent WWII from happening but conversely you’d rewrite living history and potentially make things worse.
Conversely you could taking still “living stories” and write in that they discovered the cure to cancer or how to solve world hunger as likely more acceptable ways of improving the world, or you could find your own book and write in upon leaving the library, you found the love of your life and shortly married them.
Or you could simply write the line “and he/she became an immortal god.”
Yeah out of all the SCP’s this one is probably the most dangerous as it’s the “edit” function of humanity and as an extension, reality.
There are very clear limits with punishments for hubris. People only have enough power to royally f*ck things and themselves up. Only a little bit of alteration seems allowed.
That seems extremely foolish for something resembling reality. In the SCP universe, that sounds like a great way to cause the end of the world if not the universe. They're on a razor's edge of survival.
Awwww! Marvin and Molly are such good bots!!😊
SCP foundation can legit be a show or anime
josh wimbley
It probably is cause I feel like a VN had a story like this but can’t remember the name.
@@RavenCloak13 let me know when you find it
To make it coherent, they'd have to have a far more consistent canon which of course would remove some of its unique flavor. Also, they'd have to tone down the SCP's self destructive idiocy. Anime would still work with their psychotic murdering for kicks though.
@@patrickmccurry1563 well there is anime out there that has incoherent episodes for example animatrix, some of it was about the lore others and some was about someone life in the matrix all of it isnt incoherent but I agree with you for the most part. Need not worry about them losing flavor. However I honestly do want this to happen and I'm willing to contribute to a patreon to make it so.
Can u imagine when the big EMP goes off and wipes all of our modern knowledge out it will be told just like the myths of the library of Alexandrea
The information we have on the Library of Alexandria is based on historical accounts and archaeological work. It is not a myth. And what we know about it was that it was a physical place where all incoming books to the city of Alexandria were taken and copied. Is that how /you/ would describe the internet, or computers?
Good luck when the big EMP hits, dude.
The big EMP? Even a gargantuan air detonated nuke designed for optimal EMP production couldn't erase every unshielded database from an entire U.S. state. They aren't as world ending as the fiction states.
@@patrickmccurry1563 John Smithens is not talking about a "gargantuan nuke". He's talking about the BIG EMP.
But in all seriousness, if the sun sneezed in our direction it would easily destroy tech, and possibly even disrupt the equilibrium of the earth's magnetic field. Or just straight up fry us.
@arnold jayeola A large enough EMP could create focused events of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, causing changes to human consciousness including memory loss. An EMP from the sun could melt your laptop. That'll erase data for sure.
Would you ever consider doing a video on the age of the foundation? I thought it was founded in the early 1900's, but if they took over the library in the 1800's then it must be older.
It's nice to know Marv made it into SPC Lore.
Marv is the best, always upvote Marv.
Is the equivalent of a book burning in the modern age throwing EMP grenades at Wikipedia servers?
Yes, also an attack on the second amendmant 🤣🤣
