I looked up OP's account on Reddit. Apparently everyone in his life is a monster. His ex, his MIL, his own mother, coworker, his college roommates.... makes you wonder a little bit.

Sometimes people with horrible families end up being people in horrible relationships in other areas.
I've definitely stayed with people I shouldn't have because I thought the red flags were normal. I assumed I was the toxic one for years because obviously I was the issue if everyone around me was awful but then I went to therapy and found out it wasn't me at all I was just gravitating to what I knew best and what I knew best just happened to be horrible people 🤷‍♀️

It’s so hard right cause he could be crappy but I also want to say that it’s entirely possible that he’s only written about the horrible people cause that’s sorta what ready is.
Also if his Mom is a horrible person than he can still be a good person that who gives shitty people too many chances. Wife, MIL, Mom and coworker sounds like a lot of shitty people all in one swoop but think about how many people we meet throughout our lives and 5 really isn’t that many.

It's entirely possible especially if his mother was the first instance. A parent is the first long term relationship we encounter both in their relation to us and their romantic partners. If you have a good parent you're safer cause you know what's ideal (still possible to fall into bad relationships though) but with a bad parent you're constantly fighting against the thought that whatever negative aspects of your relationship are still better than anything you faced with your parent.

Calling the police is the only way to get restitution from people like this. Someone entitled and selfish enough to brazenly break in and pawn other people's belongings isn't just gonna magically become a decent person and fix everything, and the pawn shop owner isn't just gonna give the stuff back without the threat of legal action. It honestly pisses me off how many people are too much of naive doormats to stand up for themselves.

The joy I feel for these people in INSANE marriages when they don’t have kids is off the charts. Knowing they have the ability to just burn it down and walk away never seeing them again - I’m so happy for them!

As a licensed pawnbroker, this mom is so stupid. If the pawn is done legally, she has to give her ID or driver's license, many brokers also take photos of the customer, along with fingerprints. When you are a licensed broker you receive notices on stolen items in your area. Most even upload their inventory to the police database and they will be notified if a stolen item is found and where. Then all the customers info will be handed over.

Just remember this is all from OP's perspective so take everything with a grain of salt. There could be another reddit story where OP's husband is trying to have her mentally ill mother sent to prison for taking his keys.

  • @death2boredom338

OP had to serve her the papers at work because the last time he knew her location was when she was in a hotel she amd threatened to call the cops on him if he came back. She didn't even respond to his text about changing the key to the house so the most reliable place to get to her would be her work.

For the legality of the bank account, because their names are both on the account, either of them was legally entitled to every penny of that account, and either of them could have completely emptied that account at any point

all this over a smartphone. two years old? Try going with one for six years! I made my smartphone last because I didn't want to get rid of it. I'd have gone on longer if the phone didn't start slowing down badly and touch screen started to not work. I went with an upgrade plan through my phone provider and pay it off through there month by month.
Nice to have the latest to ensure I can make this bad boy last for another 5-6 years. She had way other options than this route, geez.

I may have watched too many cop shows or movies, and of course every area is different, but isn't there some sort of law that if the item stolen is over 2 grand (or some amount similar), it's considered a felony? Like, if it were worth only 100 bucks it might be considered a small claims thing, but once the value hits a certain number, it's a straight up felony and the police have no choice but to make an arrest? I think that's how that works.

    • @Gabitronia
      @Gabitronia День тому +1

That's true. I'm pretty sure it becomes grand larceny, if the value exceeds a thousand; which is indeed a felony.
      You're smart. Don't doubt yourself.

Like I think like I’m the changing locks, so land lord can approve of changing locks on one of the leases they broke one of the terms of the lease, like allowing criminal activity. on the shared account, he said that he took out his half of the shared account, which is allowed. Meaning that she paid the bail from her half.

Why are you guys constantly villainizing males? They’re not all toxic evil misogynistic pieces of crap. it’s okay if the woman is an asshole and he reacts a little petty because he’s hurt. Not everyone is perfect and handles it the way a saint would. It’s okay to feel a little petty every now and then. Especially after how his wife and her mother treated him.

I think you are hearing things. OP made some questionable comments. Not everything is black and white. This is all OP's perspective so there can easily be another version of a daughter trying to take care of her mentally ill mother while her husband locked her out of the house, kept her out of the bedroom, and is actively trying to put her mother in prison for taking his keys.
