+Mariana Araújo First she was saying thank you because she usually does not have any female role models and she is struggling with an eating disorder. Then she said she went to the con as Amy and her dad went as River. Then Alex starts speaking.
miss song Yes, that was me! 😊 I talked a bit fast cause I was nervous. I'm actually quite glad this was posted because I had the video of me asking this on my old phone but it was stolen recently. So it's a blessing that this is here.
I'm happy to have posted the panel. It was one of the highlights of RICC that year. I'll be back at RICC this year. I have not decided if I will attend any panels or not, but I will post some videos from the con. If you're there in costume and you see me, feel free to say hello, and I can take your photo if you like.
+Kiki Katz Yes, a woman from England asked a question.Alex asked her what are you doing here? I live here, she replied, and a guy shouted "we're sorry."
She's thinking about which was her favorite episode. She asks which was the episode where she kissed the Doctor for the first time? Was it her wedding?
The people in the crowd moaning over Alex Kingston's quite accurate prediction of no female Doctor just don't get it. The Doctor is a great example of the classic masculine "sage" archetype we've seen in stories since the dawn of time, the wise man who makes the unknown known. He shouldn't become female for the same reason Wonder Woman (a classic example of the feminine "Amazon" archetype) should never be male - it would completely sabotage the deeper meanings inherent in the character. In more practical terms the vast majority of people would just dismiss a female Doctor as a gimmick to improve ratings and/or, the moment she showed any cleavage, to "sex up" the show (and, if they dealt with that by making her into some sort of de facto "space nun" you'd get plenty of other issues). Basically, the idea has "Jump the Shark" written all over it. There is, after all, a good reason why the Doctor turning female was the final laugh in the hilarious Rowan Atkinson Doctor Who parody, "The Curse of Fatal Death" from years back! If the Doctor turning female had been done early in the series to show it was a common result of regeneration it might have worked, but after more than 50 years of Who the idea would almost certainly bomb (maybe to the point of sending it off into cancellation)!
"Hello Sweetie" is like one of my favorite lines from Doctor Who and I say it to people all the time. c:
Alex Kingston is so hot for an older woman
Can I just say... I’ve met Alex and she’s exactly like this in real life😂
Well, one could argue that the Doctor is a Gallifreyan male. But.... the Master regenerated into Missy, which is a woman.
Wass so glad i was in this panel
Alex and Karen's talk at the end was prceless :)
"oh my goodness where are you from??!"
"well i like RIVERS THEME"
"I live here."
i didn't understand, what did the girl (?) said at 6:31?
