I am so proud of you Khalilah, not only for being the smart, driven, sweet, classy, kind, funny, amiable, soon-to-be polyglot (lol) that you are, but also for being so vulnerable & transparent in this vlog. It was so relatable to me bcuz I was raised by my grandmother too, and losing her left me with a huge void that I will never be able to fill (your analogy about losing an arm is so accurate).
I honestly don't know where I would be without her, my grandfather, and my aunt, so I feel you on that 100%. My sole purpose in life is to try to make them proud... and like you, it's not gonna be the way I envisioned, but I'll keep grinding. I will also continue to honor them every day with the decisions I make, the way I carry myself, and the way I treat others.
I'm a pretty private person too, so I know how difficult it must've been for you to go there, so thank you so much for sharing your story with us. And I know you're not going to pursue medicine, but I'd be willing to bet my last dollar that your Grandma has ALWAYS been, and continues to be so proud of her Missy.
You're such an amazing young lady K, and that is undoubtedly a testament to your Grandma, your brother, and your uncle. You represent them so well.
Keep doing your thing, and we will keep watching and supporting. Sending an abundance of positive energy and big hugs to you! 💜🤗

Girl I am so sorry that you went through that your grandmother seems like an amazing person. I just wanted to let you know that your 500 MCAT score was not even bad I did worse and by God's grace, I am in medical school so it's still possible, even my classmates got around a 496 so if one day you change your mind (you definitely do not have to but I am saying it's not impossible 😊). However, I think you will be amazing whatever you do because you are a kind, caring soul and will be needed anywhere and everywhere. Praying for your success!

Science is something I will always love though so I'll always be open to going down this path again. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement Oumou 💜

Rest In peace to your grandmother. She sounds like a wonderful woman. Look at those beautiful smiles in that picture! 🥰 I think that above all, your grandma would want you to be happy. It’s natural that losing someone you love so dearly would have an impact on you in the way that it did, and it’s important that we give ourselves grace to be human. When the path you are on is working against your happiness and wellbeing in a real way, changing paths when you can’t realistically change your circumstance is the best choice and is an act of maturity and self-love. I think your grandmother would be proud of the person you are becoming and would encourage you just as enthusiastically on the journey you are on now as she did on your journey to become a doctor. She loved you and your dreams/goals because they were an *expression of you* not because of the dreams/goals in and of themselves. It sounds like she only wanted what was best for you and what would bring you joy! 🙂
Last thing, you’re not beholden to us or anyone else ultimately as far as reaching the goals you set go. Do you what makes you happy and can provide security in the long run. If that changes in a major or minor way in the future, so be it. Do what’s best for you, and enjoy the journey along the way 🤙🏾

I found you here on UA-cam very recently... And I am so happy that I did. What you have shared here is so profound. Please know that your grandmother is very proud of you, and will always, always be. Your happiness is what matters the most to her and however you choose to find your happiness is what will make her happy too. I lost my father nearly six years ago and it has left a giant void in my soul. And sometimes I feel I am not doing enough in life and not being the person he would have loved to see me become. But then, I tell myself all he wants is for me to do my best. He just wants me to be happy. I have, very recently, had a big setback in life and I don't know what path to take next. I feel lost. But your words in this video have touched me so deeply. You have motivated me to embrace a possibility for change. So thank you! Thank you very much. I am here to learn to be productive with you. Once again, your words are beautifully honest and profound and inspiring! Loads of love ❤❤❤

I would always see you comment on some of my favorite youtubers' videos (i.e: Damon Dominique, Unjaded Jade, Lisa Onuoha, etc) and I remember seeing a video awhile back about your journey to become a doctor which I definitely related to. Today I just rediscovered your channel and this video honestly touched my heart. I don't know your grandmother but I truly believe that she loves you more than life and she will be proud of you no matter which path you take. And I'm sure you already know this, but hopefully it helps coming from an outsider. She didn't say "We're going to be a doctor" or "We're going to Penn" because it's what she wanted. She said all that because it's what YOU wanted and she was going to support you and your dreams. So if your goals have shifted, I believe your grandmother would have shifted with you. I truly believe right now she is saying "WE are going to post every Sunday" and "WE are going to learn all these languages" because she just wants the best for you. And if being a doctor isn't the best for you, then she wouldn't want you to do it.
Never feel like you have to apologize for shifting gears. The community that you have built here on youtube isn't going anywhere and I'm looking forward to see all of the ways you're going to achieve your goals. Much love 🤎

As many have commented, we are so very proud of you. I am an Academic Advisor at a two-year technical college. You should know what I am going to say. Nothing is more impressive when students truly pursue what THEY want to do. It is okay to change your mind. I did. I thought I wanted to be a Nurse, and I would be the first in our family, so they bought me a stethoscope. I am not a Math and Science person, and when it came to the dissection of animals in my Anatomy and Physiology course, that was when i had to come clean with myself and my family. Now, 26 years later, in Higher Education with switching, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts focusing on Human Services/Social Work and my Masters in Higher Ed. I still get to help people, but I need to learn Chemistry. You will do great in this world and on UA-cam by inspiring many people.
I love what you do here on the UA-cams! Unfortunately, I see too many students who do not know or are forced to pursue a career their parents chose for them. I work at the feeder college to a Big10 school, and the pressure to transfer to that University is nuts. Your college experience should be about exploration; it's unfair we insist 18-year-olds know what they want to be for the rest of their lives after graduation, even if they thought when they were little that was their path. We all change and evolve. I wish many students would have the same courage. We are all praying and supporting you! Thank you for sharing.

In doing so I stumbled upon this video and wanted to say that you did NOT fail love! In fact, it takes a very strong person to know when they need to readjust and realign to do what’s right for them and let me tell you your Grandmother will sooooo proud of you for that very reason alone! I always tell my son, “you will always stumble before you learn to walk” because I want him to know that it’s ok to not always be right, or always get 100’s on his tests because when gets something wrong it’s in that moment he’s actually learning! I only know very little sayings like “se ráng hey yo” which means I love you and “come se hám ne dah” which means Thank You in a respectful way like to an elder (and the spelling of it is the only way I can do it in order for it to sound right in the Korean language lol but it’s probably not how you actually spell it 😂) there are a few others but I just don’t know how to spell it in English in order for it to translate in Korean 😊

i don't think your grandma would be disappointed in you even if you didn't wanted to be a doctor anymore and decided to be something else. i think she meant she'd be disappointed in you working this hard and still not having it pay off. i think that if you wanted to be a youtuber, or a lawyer, or a librarian she'd feel the same way, seeing you work hard at it and still not having what you deserve for it.

But this video Is very special, may your grandma Rest In Peace ❤️. But there is something special about vulnerability. I tend to isolate when the world gets too much and hold things in and increase my suffering. This is also due to the fact that everyone around seems to have it together. You truly never know the cross another individual is carrying and I am glad I saw this. It wasn’t depressing it is very motivating in the only way people know how to motivate each other. The storm before fruition. I wish you all the best Khalilah. If I wasn’t before I am a 100% tuned in your journey. Your light and compassion serves more than you realize.
