Grindgore: Not All Goregrind Sounds Like Carcass
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 кві 2016
- Carcass were the innovators of goregrind. A common misconception is that all goregrind bands are "Carcass clones" or "Carcass worship" bands, and the goal of this video is to explore these "clone bands" and expose bands that don't sound like Carcass. I may have left out some bands, but I listened to enough bands to prove my point.
Some bands mentioned:
Carcass, General Surgery, County Medical Examiners, Haemorrhage, Regurgitate, Pathologist, Gruesome Stuff Relish, Xysma, Squash Bowels, Dead Infection, Last Days of Humanity, Machetazo, Repulsion, Impetigo, Anatomist, Carnal Diafragma.
Thanks to Dead Infection, Carnal Diafragma, and Inhume for the interviews!
"Ripping the Cancer" performed by me.
I heard somewhere that Jeff Walker was reading his sister's medical books in order to write more gory and disgusting lyrics. Great stuff!
never thought i would see someone make a video about the mighty GoreGrind & know what he's talking about
GoreGrind is Love,, GoreGrind is Life
+JinX Thanks! It's such an obscure and overshadowed genre that it needs light >:D
100%
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! yeah! Would be cool to see something else related to such extreme genres like goregrind, or even gorenoise which is my fav)
Bollox he hasn't got a clue about carc
carcass
Why so serious ?
yo this dudes a fuckin nerd... knows his shit.. metal nerds unite... subbed.. \m/
The only thing that bothered me about this is saying putrefaction and impetigo wrong, otherwise very good.
Yeah that bothered me too
how do say it
With a hard ū sound.

Ever heard of Disgorge? They are from Queretaro(Mexico) and are considered legends here in Mexico and yes they are goregrind/Brutal Death and they are the perfect example that goregrind isn't only carcass
Love 'em
hell yes awesome bands
If you like them you'll love Viscera Infest, they openly style themselves as a Disgorge tribute
@@funktimusrhyme Viscera Infest is probably the sickest band ever
I LOVEE THEMMM! they’re from my city and I am so proud to be from the same state as them.
Carcass are from my city.
No way. Where are you from.
Tage T.V. Liverpool, U.K.
hail satan ist
Viva Liverpool and carcAss!
The trail of dead leads to your back yard...cool bro.
Even though they definitely have changed threw time, The first 2 Cattle Decapitation records (Human Jerky & Homovore) are really good Goregrind albums, especially Homovore.
To me they're more deathgrind and then became technical deathgrind
Didn't know Crispin Glover was a metalhead
You've never seen River's Edge?
haemorrage is amazing quality
some of my favourite goregrind bands are
1)Blasted Pancreas
2)Lymphatic Phlegm
3)Last Days Of Humanity
:)
Don't forget Rompeprop!
@@bustermcnutt2452 they are pornogrind actually
@@The_Undead_Werewolf Of course! But the stylistic differences between goregrind and pornogrind are minor, save that porno is more humorous with a "raunchier" groove.
love your avatar, $B are awesome
@@Gorflank What is $B?
Just found this channel and its awesome!
If you like Haemorrhage and LDOH, you might like Lymphatic Phlegm as well!!
10/10 will watch again
Also there is a very cool and unique sounding goregrind band Lymphatic Phlegm that has some kind of black metal and industrial sound mixed with goregrind vocals and rhythm. Definately worth checking out! :)
There was this band from Japan called CUM (Catasexual Urge Motivation). Check out their first (and only?) cd. Thanx for this, sir.
They (one guy) has a few CDs and a lot of splits. Check out Reek of the Unzen Gas Fumes too. ua-cam.com/video/N_wMyrDpMIs/v-deo.html&feature=share
love your in depth analysis on genres
my favorite grindcore album is Agorophobic Nosebleed-Frozen Corpses Stuffed With Dope
+james rittenhouse It's a gnarly album. Have you heard their split with ANS? My favorite grindcore album is Terrorizer's "World Downfall."
I must certainly check out your recommendation, and I have actually heard no other AN material
+james rittenhouse Discordance Axis, Nasum, and Pig Destroyer are also unbelievable. Heh! >:D
and Insect Warfare. Don't forget Insect Warfare !
btw, what do you think of the last Agoraphobic Nosebleed's EP, "Arc" ?
Or the new Nails :D damn great. Different than the speed/punk I've been used to. Wouldn't mind them making more albums like that. Almost sounds like Brainoil.
Dude.... you should seriously teach college courses on the underground sounds, you really dissect the tributaries of death. I respect it big time and from one music nerd to another, it would be fun to converse about music 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
What about Exhumed?
they're more death metal but i can 100% see why you'd see the mas goregrind lol
Well, first 2 LPs are quite grindy.
I guess, but the rest of their discography is mostly death metal, killer band tho
what about expurgo?
Love Exhumed! They cross over between goregrind, deathgrind, thrash, with some melodic influences. They're hard to pin down to one micro-genre.
The whole "Why listen to Sleep if you can listen to Black Sabbath" analogy was great
dude! been enjoying a number of your vids tonight.... excellent quality. but your unexpected music video at the end of this one is frikkin incredible haha! you rule
I’ve seen this video before but I’m dropping by again to say thank you for making this video. Goregrind deserves more credit than it gets
I've recently bought the first 3 Carcass albums on cd. I'm aware that may suck as the format I listen to them on but it's my main one. I'd like to get the pathologists report editions too. I've been trying to get goregrind into my collection of metal and this video gave a lot of great suggestions

First 3 Napalm albums
Napalm or napalm death in shorthand....never lked napalm death somehow so yes im that lost
I like these videos on the evolution of metal genres, and the bands that emerged within the genre
11:52 - this scene is reminiscent of Ministry's 'Stigmata' video. Nice track too, lyrics were simultaneously humorous and brutal. Very detailed descriptions of these various subgenres, interesting notes on LDOH; never noticed their riff kinships through their wash of incoherent sludge (not knocking them, I worship them for that same reason) and because you've pointed them out I now recognize these aspects. Keep up the great content, hope you've been well throughout the pandemic
Honestly my favorite channel
you did great job mate :) I'm happy to hear about czech republic goregrind scene (I'm czech) - yes it is quite big here, but we have only 10 mil people (so the number of fans that like listen to gore is pretty low). But you got there one mistake when you talk about The County Medical Examiners - it's actually not made of doctors but the main person behind this band is Matt Widener - he has band like Liberteer, Citizen,, Cretin etc... he did awesome job making TCME albums - one of the best follower of early carcass. Anyway I found your channel and is awesome - I don't like to bitch, but I wanted to mention this fact about TCME :)
I've lacked on grind for a while, great video
General Surgery - Necrology is a awesome album, short but sweet.
Agree 100%, I always thought Sleep extrapolated the few spacey moments of M.O.R & Vol.4 Sabbath should have explored further.......I don't listen to that much grind, Symphonies of Sickness pretty much scratches that itch.
As a long time goregrind fan, you know your shit man... Respect!
great vid dude! Very informative. You should make a New York vs Florida death metal comparison in the future.
spartan224 Sweden wins every time.
Love how you mentioned Sleep !!!!
Can you make a video everything doom/stoner/sludge related , pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaseeeee?
Will you do another video on other grind genres like Pornogrind, Noisegrind etc
wow county medical examiners are siiiicckk thank u for putting me on
You forgot to mention MACABRE,thei album (dahmer),oh I don't even know how to classify it,it is obviously goregrind but some songs are almost pop punk, some are just plain stupid (in a good way),and some are death metal...I'd love to hear your opinion about it.great channel, cheers from Italy \m/
Macabre is murder metal
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS MACABRE
Sinister Slaughter is the very obvious superior album tbh, not sure where you're going with the pop punk but otherwise 👍👍
Fuck yeah Macabre!
@@ethanb6042 yes yes yes
Great video, thanks! Very informative.
cool video. I wish I watched it earlier. it reminded me of a couple albums I haven't listened to for ages . greets from Thailand.
im all about that groovy goregrind
Wanna share some good groovy albums?
@@savusukeltaja uhm i cant really remember many from the top of my head but i recommend boneyard, killhimdead, neanderthal goregrind( or type in "groovy goregrind") Also i recommend checking out slam bands like human rejection and whoretopsy. Suuper groovy, slammy and fun. Archagathus and haggus are also pretty groovy
hearing him say PUT-rah-faction..im-pah-TEA-go ... makes me feel like setting my ears on fire
Dude thank you! This guy's pronunciations fucking killed me
He sounds like he's from Pittsburgh. A lot of Pennsylvanians have that accent.
Puttruhfaction
When you take a dump in the second hole on a golf course
Pu tre fac tion say it with me
I love how knowledgeable you are about metal. Where does Ghoul fit into this situation?
Thank you for this video, now I know how goregrind sounds like and im getting interested in the genre
nice video!
little criticism: inhume is from the netherlands, not from poland
@Geert Lucassen i love your band faeces eruption stay brutal 🤟🏻
@@mr.kanisterr1237 thanks! :)
Also, thank you. That was a very indepth lesson.
carcass so ahead of their time, very technical and genius
Very informative. Very well researched! One question. are you the voice of the teenager in the Simpsons?
nice video man! goregrind is my favorite genre, so this is awesome! also, where did you get your shirt?
Angryyoungandpoor.com
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! Thanks man, cheers.
The new ‘Full Dynamic Range’ release of Reek fixes a lot of the issues with the original printing. Definitely listenable now!
FDR remasters are amazing.
Xysma is beautiful. Thanks so much.
What's the name of the background music at 6:01
I really liked your Ripping the cancer song ahhaa
Miasmatic Necrosis’s Apex Profane and Pharmacists first full length are the two best goregrind albums imo.
On the one hand Miasmatic has really great sounding production. On the other hand, the Pharmacist record is the gnarliest, most brutal production you’ll hear.
Pharmacist rule
I fangirled when you mentioned Sleep
I'd love to see more reviews, some obituary and amon amarth would be neat
Killbot&GorGorAttack! what's your favorite LDOH album?
So can anyone tell me where a band like Artery Eruption or like Sikfuk fall on this comparison to other grinds?
Hey speaking of extreme brutal death metal genres like goregrind what are your opinions on Slamming Brutal Death Metal?
If anyone has some goregrind recommendations I would gladly appreciate it. :)
Regurgitate ftw
Pharmacist is a fantastic band too. Goregrind is fun as hell
Not really a fan of goregrind, but I have listened too a few bands and did find it moderately enjoyable and I now appreciate it for what it is. :)
Pharmacist from japan is the best carcass worship band hands down.
11:14 finally, a good guitar tone
Unholy channel !!! I love this you are very well articulate
Inhume is from Holland my friend, great video though!
What about disgorge (mex)
How'd you get that pic of the County Medical Examiners? I couldn't find that anywhere.
Are you a fan of Powerviolence? I love it, I just got into it recently
What's your opinion about Deathcore/Metalcore?
I'm more into old school death metal bands, but I have to admit there are a few Deathcore bands I love and plenty of metalcore bands too
I'm not into it, more of a death metal guy, but I don't like the bandwagon hating that it has now. There's still good bands like Carnifex.
I loved the song at the end.
where do you buy you're album's!!! i want to start collecting but theres no cd shops around me
These days I mostly go to Discogs and eBay because the sellers are reliable on Discogs and ebay is sometimes competetive with prices.
Do a video about Deathgrind.
Hope you’re doing okay man! Miss your videos
Damn good video homie.
Mortician has a kind of goregrind feel to them because of their low tuning, but they have horror movie and goregrind themes, mortician (in my opinion) is a goregrind band with brutal death metal influence and they are an influence to slam and goregrind bands. Plenty of distorted bass, the vocalists has some of the lowest natural gutteral vocals of all time, overall, New York Brutallity
Not sure if anyone mentioned it: Inhume are from the Netherlands. ;-)
we need more vids!
I fuckin' love goregrind! There's a groove to it you just don't hear anywhere else...
very curious what you think about O.L.D. (old lady drivers)
Gorerotted needs to be mentioned
What's your opinion on Alien Fucker?
Sounds like something Jay would be into, ua-cam.com/video/fYKLuSKW4ao/v-deo.html
Not sure about the vocals, but sounds like a fun band! Definitely original. Those artworks, haha!
Fuck yeah.
Alein Fucker yeah
So does anyone understand the lyrics when you hear them? Or is it impossible to know what they're singing without looking up the lyrics?
5:13
they use a lot of bee movie samples...?
Ya like jazz?
(intense earape version) YA LIKE JAZZ :D
B-movie as in low budget
*YA LIKE JAZZ?!*
the first two albums are awesome! thats it for me.
it's crazy how you can talk about all these sick bands but still make it sound like you're reading a Twilight book review
county medical examiners is one of my favorite carcass worship bands. and I always pronounced Putrefaction like pew-treh-faction
Carcass did what most late 80s bands did they played what they could with the abilities they had. As their musical skills evolved so did their sound.
I got Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment on vinyl in the post a few days ago... It's awesome 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Emetic Cult by my beloved Haemorrhage differs from any other goregrind with its unique thrash/grind style. It has SO much thrash influence, while being felt a bit slower than those thradh albums that influenced it.
My favourite grindcore band Carcass!I was on concert Budapest Black Hole 1990.july 22.!My was birthday 18! 🤘
And after necroticism, Carcass Went on to create melodeath. Heartwork is a great album
I really expected to hear Hemdale brought up. They were around back then and brutal as fuck!!!
Last Days Of Humanity i love that shit Ps your a Legend!
I'm surprised no one said he looks like Geddy Lee yet.
still rewatch this video to get back into goregrind haha
dude where are you based out of? I'd love to drink a couple beers and talk metal with you.
North Carolina
Well hell yeah, where at? My bassist lives in Elon, near Greensboro
Dude, i love last days of humanity! :D
GSR really hits the spot
