Hi, just wanted to send a big thank you too. I have my 2013 X5 35d (E70) and my car died on me while I was driving on the freeway, I pulled over and waited for several minutes or so, and started it again. It started up and was able to drive home safely. The next day we were driving and it died again, this time it wouldn't start up. Crack but can't stay on. Got it towed to the dealer and they quoted me that the DDE needed to be replaced, the fuel line, and wire harness, and the cost was 9 thousand five hundred dollars to get it fixed. Cut to the chase, I found an exact DDE and bought it from Canada with other parts that the dealer quoted me. Got the DDE cloned and replaced all necessary parts as required, all new parts are installed. As well as a new battery that the dealer replaced a year and a half ago. The scanner can't find my DDE, I even replaced both fuel relays from the back and the front! No luck with getting it started and staying on. What else can I do? Any advice? Thank you kindly in advance for your suggestions and thoughts.
Hello, just want to say a big thank you too, I was stuck with my corsa diesel not starting after working on the fuel rail, tried everything, mobile mechanic changed loads of sensors, I watched your video and tried it myself using my engine oil vac pump, worked great and saved me a fortune in getting it recovered to a garage 😊😊😊
Thank you so much for this video, thanks to you my car works again. If Ive not seen this video i would have bought alot of unnessecary parts. Thank you!!!
Saved us too, bought that same pumper and used it on injector 1 only. Pumping with about 30-50% vaccum on the gauge worked best. Then the engine started after about 8 seconds on the starter. Nothing, nothing, then suddenly it started and ran fine. No stuttering or anything.
Hello there, Just wanted to thank you for the diesel bleeding advice. I own a BMW 530d F11 which has been stood for more than 2 years. I intend to change the inline fuel filter and drain the 40litre of diesel from the tank that has been in the car for a considerable period of time. Very grateful for the advice, thanks again.
See if you can get a copy of ISTA and the right cable. It’s specific for F series Then run the process I show in the video hopefully it should work. Fingers crossed. Hopefully you won’t have any air in the rails.
You my nguy are genius ... Had --- on my fuel gauge, filled up 6Litres at a station then drove 20km then filled full up without Turning car off ... Then next moring wont start... I have tk get a taxi to store and will let you know ...😂🎉
Interesting, my 3.0d X3 is having issues starting, need to crank it 5 or 6 times before it finally starts, ista detected the fault start pressure rail. However when the car is sitting for a while uphill it starts first go... Maybe air in the system.
I'm doing the same thing.......followed your lead with ista. However, when I click prime I don't hear a pump going. Is it audible in operation. I've good hearing
Hi my friend i have the similar problem my engine not start after to 2 years stop and the rail pressure take max 100 bar when cranking the ecu show rail pressure sensor and control valve you think is also air in the system ?
Hi I’m having same problems I got fuel from fuel sender to high pressure pump but no fuel coming out from injectors pipe and there is no power to injectors pulse I don’t know if it’s airlock or electric problems
if you take off your fuel hose on the HPFP from the fuel sender . Inside the pipe fiiting on HPFP it is a check valve inside. take a screwdriver gently and work it back and forth an it should be free . connect everything again and it should fire up : )
Hi ,so i tried to remove one of return line cap and i broken it ,one side o black peace is missing ,i fitted it back anyway and now i cant start my car ,cranks only..
I didnt need a vac pump. I just loosen the pipes that go to the injectors and start the car for about 2 minutes without the intake on. Then put the intake back on and it started first time.
I think this could be the problem on my Mercedes Sprinter. I replaced the common rail with a brand new one because I got a code to do with the sensors so I just replaced the whole thing. So anyway after I replaced it the van would just not start not even on easy start. The vans been sat for 6 months. It's a Mercedes Sprinter 2014. I'm gonna try this tomorrow and hopefully it solves the problem. Could I not just loosen the injector pipes and crank the engine to remove the air from the system?
@@The_Oracle No problem. Thankyou. I'll first try by loosening the injector pipe while the ignition is on. If thar doesnt work I'll hook the vaccum onto the injector pipe. But I was thinking recently if there's air in the fuel rail and injector piped won't there be air in the injectors themselves?
@@The_Oracle She cranks but no start Ista d shows good pressure while cranking but no start. I was trying spray start didn't start either. The only fault in Ista d 4 glow plugs so I don't know what to do. Thank you for reply!
Hi, I'm basically in the same boat. however, when I did what you're doing, it seems like the fuel is going into my catch can much quicker than in the video. Basically it fills it up within 30 seconds, and its still coming out with bubbles. This is making it quite the mess, since I have to constantly cancel the operation in ISTA, empty my catch can, and repeat. Did you somehow reroute the fuel to go back into the system from the catch can? Is there anything that I'm missing?
It will to an extent. But if there too much air then it won’t work. Or you risk damaging the starter. I was talking to a mate in the AA and he says that if they run out of diesel you can get away with it In fact last week my wife nearly ran it dry then parked on a steep down hill. It didn’t start. I rolled it down hill and it started after 15 seconds. I gave her a warning.
Hi mate, i own a 2008 530d M57 engine.... took fuel injectors out and left it open for 1 weeks , it doesn't start now after putting everything back, where did you get your insta plus from ?
Hello, I have a BMW X5 which hasn't turned on for a long time. It had a code stored with the glow plug module. I replaced it with a new one along with the spark plugs and it starts but doesn't turn on. I checked the low and high pressure data on low. It has 30 psi and there is no pressure in the rail, I have already carried out the bleeding procedure to the system but no fuel comes out of the pipes and the inlet hose to the pump if there is fuel

Hi I was putting diesel in my bmw today and suddenly diesel started coming out any idea why that happened ☹️☹️☹️
In the same boat, can the pump be active by turning on and off the ignition? Many thanks
No. Not for long enough.

Did u have to remove intake manifold to connect the vacuum pump to the injector hard lines? Can it be done without? Thank you
Yes had to remove. I am afraid.
Bmw x6 diesel ,3.0d at 2009 model and newly replace the high pressure pump and how to program the starting pressure to the control module?
No idea.
Thanks i have the same problem. Was thinking one does not have to do all six individually but rather the highest point where the air would accumulate?
Nah. You have to do them all.
I'm doing the same thing.......followed your lead with ista.

Yes you should hear it very slightly from the tank area of the car.
Hi i have an inssue with my x5 it had a injector replacment we changed 1 of 6 and it dont want to start any advice ?
Did you code in the new injector.

Not on modern systems. You can do this on tractors and simple diesels. I think you will need to draw a vacuum.
@@The_Oracle ok, I have a vaccum pump if I hook it up to the injector pipe will that do the job?
You could try to injector pipe. You may need the fuel pump activated to draw vacuum though.

If so injectors can clear into the cylinder.
Hi thanks what software did you use on your computer ?
ISTA+. Lots of UA-cam videos out there of how to put it on a PC.

No I didn’t. There would be no where for the fuel to go if re routed. I had to bleed for some time. This was not shown in the video.
@@The_Oracle Did you run the low pressure pump multiple times for the same line, or did you just run it once and then just rely on the vacuum?
2-3 times.
@@The_Oracle Got it. Also really appreciate the quick response haha
Good luck.
could the same problem happen if someone were to run out of fuel?
Possible. The system should not be this bad though from just running out of fuel. You could run the new fuel filter sequence on the diagnostics first.
Does the intake manifold have to be removed on the N47 520d LCI?
I would expect so.
No need to remove the manifold to get injectors
Dosnt this systems bleed them self when cranking?

Do I keep the battery connected when doing this?
Yes.

www.downloadworkshopmanuals.com/index.php/8-workshop-manuals/1237-bmw-ista-download
I think you can get them for free. But I paid a tenner and It came as a packaged download with a virtual machine.
Would be interested to see how to check the fuel pressure without a pc and without removing all the manifold pipework. Do you think its possible?
You can use a simple diagnostics device available on eBay.
