  • Un-monetized and respectfully taken from the great "Let It Be Beatles" podcast bit.ly/3DgW881
This channel is NOT Mark Lewisohn's personal UA-cam channel.
But since Mark Lewisohn is indeed the greatest world-renowned and world-recognised Beatles historian and expert - most notably since his 1988 best-seller "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions" - we thought the man deserved a beautiful reference interviews channel !...
... So this channel is like a homage to Mark Lewisohn and a reference channel for his master subject The Beatles, almost like a public service kind of channel if you like !... This channel will be like a free and "un-monetized" central platform aimed at any english speaking Beatles student around the planet, and it will patiently collect and centralize all interviews and significant radio/podcast/video appearances Mark Lewisohn has made anywhere in the world, usually scattered around dozens of different sites and platforms on the internet, onto one single central channel for reference without monetizing its videos, for this is a purely educational reference channel for the connoisseurs, without any commercial nor business goal of any sort.
Therefore this "Mark Lewisohn - A Beatles Historian" channel is indeed a good deed !
SO PLEASE NOTE THREE IMPORTANT THINGS :
    A) None of these videos will ever be monetized so we're not robbing anybody here,
    B) A nice & gracious link to the original beloved source/podcast will of course always appear right underneath the video with the original source full name, and
    C) An UNCENSORED version of this Mark Lewisohn channel, ie. with all the missing interviews that were either blocked or taken down by UA-cam, is and will always be available there bit.ly/3IpYjWf

Uncensored Mark Lewisohn, A Beatles Historian bit.ly/3IpYjWf
Mark Lewisohn has professionally studied the Beatles since the late '70s. Mark has worked for Paul McCartney himself from 1986 to 2001, for the Beatles' own company Apple Corps from 1991 to 1998, and has also collaborated with the surviving members for the enormous 1995 autobiographical "Anthology" project...
But beyond his extraordinary books and even beyond the Beatles themselves (!), listening to Mark Lewisohn talking about the Fab Four during those long conversations with various Beatles fans, Beatles experts and Beatles students from all around the world, is indeed a fascinating and informative experience in itself. It is a vibrant and breathtaking experience because it is like listening to a series of rich in-depth lectures on what life used to be like in the Western World after World War II, during the 1950s and obviously during the great legendary 1960s.
Hence the existence of this channel.
Mark Lewisohn's "ALL THOSE YEARS" Beatles historical biography that Beatles fans already casually call "THE THREALOGY BOOKS" :

Mark, I wish you'd do some speaking dates here in the States. I realize it's more of an effort but, man, it would be fun to hear you live.

Fascinating, I hope ML has raised enough money to start writing books 2 and 3. Id like to still be alive and capable to read them. I'd like ML to still be alive and well to write them!

It's not an issue of money, but time. He is only one individual and his unprecedented level of detailed research, across the globe, is what takes up the majority of time. Then of course the challenging issue of putting everything he's researched into a coherent story, as per Volume One 'Tune In'. It's an enormous amount of work that he cannot delegate and does not want to as the quality will suffer. He has said all these things himself in the past. I am an admirer of his unrelenting enthusiasm, passion and work ethic. He is writing perhaps the most interesting, captivating, often unbelievable story ever told. And THIS one is true!

@@alienskinmusic I agree. what my comment meant was a reference to a comment that ML himself said that he was touring to raise money so that he would have the time to be able to write the book.

Mark speaks eloquently [as always] and really quite sympatico, regarding John's gentle berating of Paul putting 'Maxwell' on 'Abbey Road' "when you didn't even believe in it yourself"(circa 43 mins), but overlooks what Mark knew quite well, that John's hypocrisy was well to the fore there, as he himself referred to 'Mean Mr Mustard' as "a bit of crap I wrote in India." John also overlooks that, due to their ability, those wonderful meshing voices, etc, there were several songs in their ouevre that are not 'of the highest calibre', one might say, but when made by that unique 4-in-1-ensemble, they were still great RECORDS (capitals due to lack of italic). 'Heartbreak Hotel' is not necessarily a great SONG [basic chords, lyrics from a suicide note] - but THAT vocal, THAT echo, THAT bass ... what a RECORD it is.
Whilst here, if one may be so bold, I spoof this session in my Rutles-esque parody of their 1970-1980 years, 'The Fabbles: The So-Low Years'. There are a couple of clips of me reading bits of it on my channel.

Around the 47:00 mark. The conversation about the meeting is that up till 1969 George's songs hadn't been very good and were few and far between. Where's the problem with that? It's clearly true. George's songs on Let It Be, Abbey Road and All Things Must Pass were overwhelmingly from 1969 onwards. He didn't have some vast treasure trove of great songs going back years. He was a late bloomer.

It’s funny paul gets crap fir saying something against George but John can say Paul’s songs suck and that is supposed to be cool? After Lennon out garbage like Goodnight , Bungalow Bill and rev #9 on the white album he is complaining about Obla Di ???? At least people LIKED Obla di

If you write songs to be liked, then you are writing for other people's taste, and sacrificing your art. John and George were far less prone to do that. Maxwell is a catchy song, but it's Yellow Submarine all over again....dummied down to sell. Just like O blah-Di O Blah-Dud. Brainless catchy stuff, it was beneath the Beatles, IMO.

Mark, next time you're hanging out mitt Paulie. ask him about his penchant for disguising himself to slip into the crowds of fans & hear what they were saying about him. i bet there are photos of Paul doing this unrecognized to this day. Have a Happy Happy

Some one tell Mark that he is not the first one to go on a lecture tour over an album. Scott Freiman and his deconstructing the Beatles albums.

John certainly was not the leader anymore by that time. What John said in that reunion, with a narcotized Paul, doesn't change that.

I like hearing these talks, but I wish Mark wouldn’t swear. I’m not a prude, I know we all curse from time to time, but I think it devalues him as a public speaker and his work deserves better than that.

I think it's almost required for a person who's going to accurately capture The Beatles' story.
