I can't get enough of these guys, so inspiring and inspirational. I'm talking about their music too.
The story behind the song. Some years back (1970's) I was a close friend and songwriting partner of the late, great Jerry Corbetta, (Sugarloaf/ Green Eyed Lady, etc.) who later on became a member of the Four Seasons. One day Jerry told me that Frankie asked if we could come up with a song using the title "Your Never to Old to Rock and Roll". I mentioned that the title had already been used and he said, and correctly, it didn't matter. Frankie wouldn't care, you can't copywrite a title. And rightfully so. So I worked on it and actually came up with an entire song. I recorded a copy and gave it to Jerry, who brought it to Frankie. I know the group spent a lot of time breaking the song in and here it is these many years later, now being aired on You Tube and being preformed in their live concerts. To this day I have never met Mr. Valli, never heard a word of acknowledgment or gratitude and have never received any credit for writing the song that he sings. And he actually lives about a mile away. Someone online wrote and told me that he had gone on public radio and TV, and was taking credit for writing the song. I hope that's not true. I can just tell you that the video here online is almost an exact copy of the demo I wrote and recorded and passed on to Jerry who passed on to Frankie. With the exception of a few words, the melody, lyrics and hook are exactly the same ! The song was registered some years back. Buffalo 7 Music - ASCAP . Sincerely, Bob Corso
