Defense Mine: Death Valley / Panamint Valley

- We follow the Off-R-Rockers 4x4 group up to, and inside the historic Defense Mine not far from Death Valley. The road up to the mine is short but there are a few difficult rocky and washed-out spots that require a well equipped off-road vehicle. In this short video there are 3 Jeep Wranglers and a Toyota 4Runner, all very well equipped.
According to the USGS the Defense Mine produced primarily Lead but the ore also contained Gold, Copper, Silver and Zinc and was active going as far back as 1885.
To get to the Defense Mine take Panamint Valley Road to Minietta Road and go west. Follow Minietta Rd to route P0514 and follow that trail up to the mine.
You can find the Defense Mine on Google Maps here:

Wow, this trail look technical/difficult. You guys did a great job 👍
I kind of liked this with no background music. Let’s you hear all the noises from the vehicles motor, transmission, tires, suspension, hitting rocks etc
RobDTom I approve. If somebody needs music they can turn up the radio or put on Spotify
@@EvanMoon Exactly!
I like hearing the tires on the rocks
Thank you for not putting music on this
Such a good looking 4unner, I don’t think there’s a single dent on it
A tow from the pavement in Death Valley is 2-3000 you break down up there forget about it !
Well done video thanks!
At the top there was quite the established community with bars and usual town stuff. If you look out to the N/E you can see across the valley to a ridge where the old stage line ran in that area.
its called Lookout City
sweet
Good stuff guys pretty good trail few Jeep waves 😂😂 as always be safe
A friend drove his F350 king cab truck up to the Defense Mine. Needless to say he did not do the extra credit stuff. Another friend only got half way with his trail rated Jeep cherokee.
yes my friend took his up there also but not all the way to the mine itself its was nice to sit on leather seats
I'm assuming all of these guys have front and rear lockers.
We took the road to the Defense Mines last year, the roads in your video are not the roads to the mines. Are you glorifying your video, be straight up please.
This is what the big boys call "the hard way" to get to the mine area.
