Horicon is amazing! I can't wait to go back next year and spend more time there. You're fortunate to have such a neat spot so close to you. Thanks for the great video!

Really enjoy the quality of your shots and vids. Do you use the same camera for both?

Thank you! For the bird shots we almost always use the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-80, and then I use a Nikon D5300 for the vlog shots with a Rode external mic. Anything of the birds (unless we get super close) that is photo or video is with the Panasonic cams.

It's very rewarding to see rails because they can be so elusive. Best of luck!

Good boardwalks can be hard to come by! A lot of the ones in south Louisiana are super short.

Thanks guys. Always a joy to watch. I bird primally in Rhode Island where things are fairly quite now as we wait for the seabird migration to begin.

For the bird footage it's almost always the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-80. For the vlog-style shots I've been using the Nikon D5300 with a Rode external mic.

Does the Eastern Wood Peewee sound like Peewee Herman when he laughs?

Could be happening in the forest when nobody is around to here it. Can't say for sure.

Wow what a day! I went out there a few weeks ago, but it was still hot out so most things were hiding during our time there.

Yeah, mornings are normally the best, especially on super hot days.

Loved seeing the Whooping cranes! They should be headed down here next month or so. Do you have plans to return to Texas any time soon?

I (Derek) shot a couple videos in South Texas that I still have to edit. I may be doing some more stuff there soon.

That looked like a fun birding trip! Horicon Marsh is one of the places I really want to go, but over 1,500 miles away from me.

WTH why would someone hunt a whooping crane?

Good morning 🌅 from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. In Japan, there are the Red-crowned Cranes, also called the Manchurian Crane, is a large East Asian crane among the rarest cranes in the world. In some parts of its range, it is known as a symbol of luck, longevity, and fidelity.

As always you guys do such a great job , what is the best time of the year to go to the Horicon Marsh .
And another Bird I would love to see I don't know if they have it there at the Horicon Marsh how about a Black Rail .😅

    • @BadgerlandBirding
      @BadgerlandBirding  Рік тому

It depends what specific species you’re looking for. May is great for rarities and species stopping over. Summer is really good to because all the breeding marsh species will be there. Black Rail would be a massive rarity there but some people hypothesize with the sheer size of the marsh that some could be there
