- Join me on a recent day of fly-fishing the Upper Clackamas River in Oregon! It was my first time fly-fishing this river. I didn't know what to expect, and was pretty happy with the results! I found some good water that fished well. And I found some areas that will definitely need some future exploring! Shoot me any questions you might have. Enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
Here's a link to my recent Metolius River Fly-Fishing Video!
• Fly Fishing the BEAUTI...
Filmed on August 23rd, 2020 using a GoPro 8 in HD 1080p.
My go-to dry flies all day were chubby chernobyls, stimulators, and tan caddis flies.
Both "Catch & Release" & "Leave No Trace" observed at all times.

The Upper Clackamas River turned out to be a great place to fly-fish for feisty wild trout! Who's been there?
I grew up in Estacada. The fishing was much better in the 80’s and early 90’s. Taught many to fish at Harriet. Below Carter Bridge was a honey hole. Near Ollie has some good spots. Great video.
The upper Clack is an excellent day trip fly stream from Gresham. High under rated fishery. Great family accessible area.
@@mattfitzpatrick83 Just back from the upper Clack prospecting a few possible spots. Alas, too many areas with garbage and human waste now, which apart from the gross factor also speaks of a lot of pressure on the water, so I guess the deal is to get as far from the road as possible. Care to share any spots?
Or completely ignore the interest from viewers if you prefer.
Im a local how can I get to the upper Clackamas? I really want to find a small creek to fish and practice my stealthy fly fishing tactics.
Your videos are definitely getting better! 👍
Much appreciated!
Some beautiful wild fish right there..... it’s a magical place great vid ........
Definitely had fun there. I think with some more exploring, some larger trout could be found. Thx for watching! 👋
Had to watch it twice! Another great fly fishing video!
Much appreciated buddy!
I really enjoyed this one. I haven't fished the upper Clackamas but looks like some great water.
Many thanks! My first time there. It's been recommended to me for several years. It seems to get overlooked. Lot's variety to explore up there.
Nice one. I love the rocks spot next the road.
Thx, yeah those cliffs were stunning. That area is right on the southern line of that Riverside Fire right now. Ugh......
@@dynamicphotography_ that's too bad. I really like that area. I use to ride there my bike..
I have subscribed to your channel !! Great work 😀
Thanks a bunch! I returned the sub.
So sad that this area is still off-limits as far as I know, unless perhaps one can use Skyline Road to get to some of it. I don't know, but with the river trout season approaching its end and little to show for it, it would be great to get back in there again.
Yeah, it's still closed from all directions. There was some conflicting info online. I took the time to drive up there, and it's gated off via 3 separate access points. I wish I could have hit it this season. Next year!!!
cool
🤓👋
Does “upper” refer to the part of the river close to where it feeds into the Willamette?
Great video as always man hope to run into you out there one day maybe we can do a Collab video
Right on! A Collab would be cool. Never done one with fly fishing.
I just returned the Sub also. I'll check out some of your videos. 👊
how far up the clakamas?
I need to be careful about hotspotting the area. But it's pretty far upstream. Let's just say above the popular areas. Thanks for watching!
Heading to Big Bottom later. What's the mask at the beginning?
I absolutely love your content, but I worry about labeling rivers and locations when so close to Portland. Places get discovered and overrun quickly. Small streams can't handle the pressure.
Feedback noted. I appreciate where you're coming from on the issue. I have already been making some adjustments moving forward. Especially on the smaller tributary water. Next video undisclosed.
Great video! I spend a lot of my time in this area late spring and summer. So much fun with a 2 wt. A lot of the surrounding tributaries fish very well too. I actually drove out there 3 days ago, the road is barricaded right after the reservoir, from the fires; and won't be opening up until Fall, is what I was told. May have to access the back way from Breitenbush. I am always up for an adventure. Hit me up sometime!
Hey bro. Thanks for stopping by. That sucks about the road closure. I really want to get back up in the area this summer. I'll be looking at the Breitenbush route, that's the way I go anyway. And yes, I want to unlock all the various tribs. I got your e-mail. I'll be replying in the next couple days. 🙌 Also, I checked out your 80's Synth track. Mind blown! I absolutely LOVE it.
