It means maintaining a framework through which they can improve rather than breaking it down to the studs and starting from scratch. There is no guarantee either way, but at least with Brown we won't have to wait 2 seasons to see if it is working or not. It means you hold things constant that work and improve on the things that do not rather than building the thing from the ground up again. We couldn't properly evaluate Fields until year 3 because there was always uncertainty about whether the issue was Fields or the coaches. Now we know it was the coaches. Bring in a whole new coaching regime and we will be in the same boat. Sticking with Brown means less moving parts, which equals more efficient analysis of Caleb and his progress without any counfounding variables (i.e., new coaching). Brown and Caleb clearly have the rapport already. Let's skip that long ass step if we can.

I don't think that Johnson would want to coach in a division that's very familiar with his offensive schemes. Personally, I think Johnson ends up in Jacksonville. They have just as much offensive talent as the Bears plus an added benefit, they play in the AFC.

Ben Johnson to me is overrated. He reminds me a of a young Nagy. Loves calling these overly fancy plays that only work because Detroit has a little talent this year (Miss you Monty). His play calling in the last half of our game was pretty rocky. I think he may be one of those guys that is a good/great OC, maybe not HC material.
Poles should do an anonymous roster voting and see who the players would like the HC to be. Just for the insight. If "Thomas" wins out he should 100% be the HC next year. If he wins 3 out of 5 and beats the Packers maybe. If he loses the last 5 games then he 100% should not be the HC next year. If the offense plays well but the defense doesn't and they lose most of the remaining games then try and keep Thomas as the OC and bring in a defense coach as the HC. I like "Lovie Smith" for this situation. He's the best coach we've ever had since Ditka. This would be the best roster he's ever coached. It's a little early to decide on a coordinator for HC at the moment. We need to see how the season ends. I don't like how "Brian Flores" was reportedly speaking to players while he coached Miami. I'd like to see how "Marcus Freeman" and Notre Dame finish this season. He turned that team around for real. If Notre Dame goes to the National Championship he should seriously be considered. For me the #1 HC available is "Jon Gruden." Superbowl Champ and a winning HC. We know he casually used misogynistic and homophobic language to disparage people in emails several years ago. Bill Belichek is not going to take his orders from a light weight like Ryan Poles, who has a combined win/loss record over the last three seasons of 14 and 33. So unless he has full control of personal, you can scratch him off the list.

Absolutely out on defensive minded coaches. Idc about the leader of men stuff... winning builds culture. If you get Ben Johnson the only staff that dramatically affects the team is DC. And I think that is far easier than OC and less likely to bounce after one good year. Go all in on Ben Johnson. And if he fails go after the next offensive minded playing calling coach. Until you get it right. Absolutely tired of watching great defenses try to carry horrid offenses and still never win a play off game.

Ben Johnson to me is overrated. He reminds me a of a young Nagy. Loves calling these overly fancy plays that only work because Detroit has a little talent this year (Miss you Monty). His play calling in the last half of our game was pretty rocky. I think he may be one of those guys that is a good/great OC, maybe not HC material.
Need fear in the building. The kind players will respect even if they don't like him.

Poles should do an anonymous roster voting and see who the players would like the HC to be. Just for the insight.
If "Thomas" wins out he should 100% be the HC next year. If he wins 3 out of 5 and beats the Packers maybe. If he loses the last 5 games then he 100% should not be the HC next year. If the offense plays well but the defense doesn't and they lose most of the remaining games then try and keep Thomas as the OC and bring in a defense coach as the HC. I like "Lovie Smith" for this situation. He's the best coach we've ever had since Ditka. This would be the best roster he's ever coached.
It's a little early to decide on a coordinator for HC at the moment. We need to see how the season ends. I don't like how "Brian Flores" was reportedly speaking to players while he coached Miami. I'd like to see how "Marcus Freeman" and Notre Dame finish this season. He turned that team around for real. If Notre Dame goes to the National Championship he should seriously be considered.
For me the #1 HC available is "Jon Gruden." Superbowl Champ and a winning HC. We know he casually used misogynistic and homophobic language to disparage people in emails several years ago. I don't believe he's a racist even though he made fun of a black man's lip size. Not thinking that affects how players respond to being coached by him. At the same time I do think the McCaskey's wouldn't hire him because of all of it. Gruden and Belichick are 15 million a year coaches. I think the most the McCaskey's have ever paid a coach is 4.5 million a year .. Eberflus. They always hire cheap 1st time NFL HC's. Most likely they'll do it again.😐
Ben Johnson is not Dan Campbell. And he would likely want a HC outside of the Lions division. There will be no shortage of suiters. 3:56 3:57
