Thanks for showing me another connection between me and our Pennsylvania project architects. We have branchlines around here in similar condition to the New Freedom to Shrewsbury section, but we use a larger gauge for our Manchester to Cardiff via Shrewsbury and connecting routes.
I’m shocked that you guys didn’t go on the ground at that speed. Great video, by the way! PS...goes to show folks, no matter the track appearance, if the tracks are there, expect a train!
Model Railroader Magazine had a article on the Stewartstown back in October of 1966. Photos of the original 4-4-0 and 2-6-0 locos plus a small rail bus for passenger service. Also photos of he 2 small Plymouth industrial engines that were used in later years.
There's also a Shrewsbury in Massachusetts and stewartstown in New Hampshire thank you for clarifying where this is, I hate when they post a video and don't tell you what state it's in
Stewartstown is in Pennsylvania. And the railroad runs between New Freedom and Stewartstown. Doesn't go to Shrewsbury. It is due west of Stewartstown. You can view the entire route on Google Maps.
Looks like it ended prematurely and could've gone farther. All that hand waving was to indicate increase speed? More like a thumbs up would've been more appropriate. That gesture given seems more likely to indicate advance. Somewhat scenic route and an old, abandoned track is better than none.
Looks like they're accepting tie donations... Is the whole line excepted track? If so, how can they run passenger trains? I guess if its not connected to the national rail network the FRA rules don't apply... not sure.
@@donnawoodman6249 Hand signals. Alot of them are used on railways to direct movements. Nowadays 2 way radios are used but still supplemented with hand signals.
Cameron Train yeah, they do indeed have problems with the houses close to the tracks. Some people had even started to encroach their right of way because they figured the railroad was abandoned, which it is not. They are sort of fighting with some people to maintain their right of way even though the tracks were there long before the houses, or owners for that matter.
That is a bit of an issue. They should maintain the right of way regardless of what the homeowners think, because it is still the Stevenstown Railroad, and the homeowners don't own the property.
Last fall we rode the new steam train out of New Freedom. I cant wait to do it again. Its just a long drive from where I live.
hoi Brian, this is sompting for you.lol.for me to. greetz:Peerke.

Wow nice love being lost in time
Keep up the good work
Your fan sandra.🚂
SO cool... I imagined I was riding my bike on a rail trail and closed my eyes. When I opened them I was transported back in time and onto a train...
Man I would love to ride on this line!!! I want to feel like a kid again!!!
Grüße nach Pennsylvania/ USA!

Great to see some video of this line. Can't wait for the full line is open for excursions!
I like the ride but it would be nice to see what we were riding on!! 😋
Went on a speeder Excursion about 5 years ago on this line. They hook up about 6 speeders together. Got to do it again sometime.
reminds me of penn central right away from Danville,IL to Cairo,IL. lol

Excellent speeder run , lots of fun
What was the arm waving all about? Looked like clearing cobwebs out of the way.
That's the conductor. He's conducting! ( ಠ ͜ʖಠ)
Ya that drove me nuts lol
That hand in the way makes this video unwatchable...
Probably was.lol
Shrewsbury is in Pennsylvania, off I-83 west of Baltimore
There is also a Shrewsbury in the UK. I was actually thinking of that one...
There's also a Shrewsbury in Massachusetts and stewartstown in New Hampshire thank you for clarifying where this is, I hate when they post a video and don't tell you what state it's in
Wow, those tracks look like they haven't been used in over 100 years.
The tracks off to the left have new ballast... These ones are a little more on the neglected level.
As old as the tracks looked, train was moving at a decent clip, I'd say around 35 to 40 MPH.
Excelente excelente las vías en regular estado pero a la prudente velocidad fue un muy buen paseo gracias
Where's Stewartstown and Shrewsbury? Sad that you don't include such info in the title!

Cool video 👍
Absolutely Beauteous!
When was last time a train went down these tracks ?
Very good video
Great works guys!

So cool. I know where this is
What is the hand movement for? What equipment are you using. It sounds like electric but there's no overhead wire.
Hand movement was from the conductor. It was a chain of track maintenance vehicles coupled together. It was not electric, it is gas powered.
Not even 1 group of teenagers hanging out on the rails & drinking beer & smoking weed ? What's the world coming to ?... 😎
y rail department not maintenance this track
Very satisfying sound,
Essa eu nao entendi um video que nao mostra a maquina
Tell the cameraman to HOLD THE CAMERA STEADY next time!!! Otherwise I love this sort of view and rail riding. Thank you
Love from india 🇮🇳🇮🇳

Love it

Nice looking train, I guess...
The line looks like something out of a horror movie
Shot on my birthday!! 😏
Happy Birthday to you. Sorry I am late.
What state is this? Nice roadbed! Pretty scary in a couple of places.
Pennsylvania.
🌹Very Nice🌹👍
ich liebe diese Eisenbahn. It could be in Germany as well
Sum scary tracks
Looks a little out of guage at 0:59
Looks like the creations of UK cartoonist Rowland Emmett!
когда заезжал в лес, я боялся как бы не выскочил мужик с топором
OOOPs...My arm got in the way a few times there...
Stewartstown Conductor What were you doing with waving your arm every few seconds? I would really like to know.
@@donnawoodman6249 Hand signals. Alot of them are used on railways to direct movements. Nowadays 2 way radios are used but still supplemented with hand signals.
good for 25......
Somebody Anybody please Oil them
Tracks Geez..jb
It would have been a better video to watch if you didn't have someone wave there hand in front of the camera all the time.
That's the conductor
The quality of the railroad itself is awful! Aren't there safety problems with this railroad?
Cameron Train the railroad is in the process of renewing their track to class 1 status.
That is good. The only problem I see in it is how close the railroad is to private residences. I would LOVE to live by this railroad, though.
