one of my favorites from you, me
Thanks a bunch, me

One of my favorite things about V in Cyberpunk as well is that no matter what choice they make at the end of the game their story is a legend within Night City, obviously some of the choices lead to them adding more to it but the story is still known across many people throughout Night City and they influence people and events that will change Night City and certain residents of it forever, so either way V gets what they wanted.
Great point he is notable no matter what really lol
@@FranklyGaming well, there is arasaka and suicide ending where he doesnt endup a legend
@@mikoajtokar5846 even then, he still got reputation around town though. The Merc that came back from the dead, IIRC.
@@theyawner2170 no one really knew about that tho
@@theyawner2170 based on rogue's comments, v's reputation at the beginning is anything but good, it could easily be assumed that other mercs think v brings bad luck and everyone who works with him ends up dead.
On Cyberpunk: Viktor Vector said best:
“I used to know who’s who and what’s what. Then one day I just gave it all up. I’ll never be a legend in this city…been sleeping peacefully every night since”
Phenomenal vid my friend! I love games that leave you in an existential crisis❤
Great quote, and thanks so much for the support!
"And it was a sight to behold how a soul would choose his life. Sometimes pitiable, sometimes laughable, some times wonderful and strange"
[...]
"There came also the soul of Odysseus having yet to make a choice, and his lot happened to be the last of them all. Now the recollection of former toils had disenchanted him of ambition, and he went about for a considerable time in search of the life of a private man who had no cares; he had some difficulty in finding this, which was lying about and had been neglected by everybody else; and when he saw it, he said that he would have done the same had his lot been first instead of last, and that he was delighted to have it."
-Myth of Er, Plato's Republic
The suicide ending always breaks me down when its brought up. It was actually the first ending I ever landed on. I didnt even mean to but it felt like a representation of what was really going on in my head at the time. Hearing the anguish people felt over my actions still hurts even though none of them were real.
Funnily enough, that was the same ending I chose, just seemed wrong to endanger all the people I cared about, I can't remember if Johnny offered for us to go in as a one man army. But I remember just kind of thinking, why?
I stopped playing it after, but when this new big update comes out I think it'll be time for a new V
@@5pear5 Johnny does offer an option to go in solo. But you have to choose the right dialogue choices in the oil field, then choose the right option at the rooftop and then wait 5 minutes just watching the city before He gives the option.
Judy's reaction fuckin' HURTS to see.
Didn’t expect this comment to get that many like but I hope everyone is doing okay. 💜
thank god for using the Forest Kingdom as the track for NieR Automata.
it's the genuine track that radiates this feeling of something great that once was.
Ya I always put a lot of thought into the music, one of my favorites in the video
@@FranklyGaming my absolute favourite is the Desert Theme, man do I miss 9S tbh
it wouldnt be frankly if he didnt immediately start talking about cyberpunk, love to see it👍
I had to do it for the boys haha, thanks for the support!
castlevania proposed the most profound question of them all: "WHAT IS A MAN!?"
😂
BUT A MISERABLE PILE OF SECRETS
I was pleasantly surprised to see Planescape: Torment get some much needed attention. Well done!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching
Cyberpunk made me care so much about the characters that i just flat out refused to see the Suicide ending, purely because it flat out pains me seeong characters like Judy utterly miserable about it. I wanted what was best for my friends throughout cyberpunk and did what i could to achieve that. So in my ending, Judy and i ditched the city and left with the Aledecaldos. Johnny got to stay with Alt. Mostly happy ending for everyone else. Its truly a fantastic game
That was my favorite ending too for sure, such a great game, thanks for watching!
also for my real comment that isnt just memeing, I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, is one of the most tragic stories ever written, the fact that death is the best option is such a terrifying concept, and has single handedly made me super afraid of AI lol, the thought of experiencing the worst things the world can offer and being able to do nothing about it but accept your fate is such a gross situation, and for some reason, it reminds me a lot of something like dementia. with dementia you are literally stuck in a hell where you cant remember anything and all the things you built up to in life are lost, only to have a glimmer of hope at the end, of course with dementia you still have the option of death, but its the same concept, being trapped and being stripped of what made you human
Ya it’s one of the most horrifying stories ever told for sure, I think I like the original short story even more than the game too
To be fair, that's just how we see dementia from the outside. It isn't necessarily the same hell from the inside. Maybe people just enjoy the moments of joy and forget a lot of the other things, while affected, some of the suffering and annoyance may wash away with the forgetting.
The most profound yet simple question asked in gaming:
Continue?
Have you had enough or do you want some more? Have you learned? Have you grown? Or are you going to fail again? Tell me now - you’re on the clock with eight seconds left. Will you rise up and beat this challenge or walk away leaving this game behind.
Now we getting really philosophical 😂
This, especially in games like Omori, Dwarf Fortress, or Undertale.
What i also like about Soma is it makes you thinks about copies and other versions of you. While this does still connect to the idea of "what is human", the idea the game has about copies is really interesting. The mc has to copy their sentience, so now theres two people out there with the same memories, thoughts, ideas, but over time they would change. If you were to meet a copy of yourself, how similar would you actually be? And what would it mean if there was an original? Does being "the original" actually make you more, you? Or perhaps would the copy be more? Or would either version be considered lesser than before the copy?
i love soma, lives in my mind rent free
Absolutely. I still quote the shutdown sequence on any Ethics of Cloning argument I have (mind cloning, not merely genwtic cloning)
Or if there could be a perfect copy, is there really consciousness? It goes back to the old belief in a soul. If our soul is unique, no copy would have our soul. So whether soulless or with a new soul, we are not our copies and when we die, we could only truly be brought back if our soul is given a new body. But... if we have no soul... then all we are are versions in essence it could be argued. In which case, this version only gets one existence. And even if you don't know it, this version you live of you now ends once you die. Even if you are brought back and the next versions THINKS in every way they are you, your existence is forever gone. Only the simulation and memories of you might remain and a new husk to house them. Which in some ways is more scary. To think that an imposter of you could be created and it will be deceived to such an extent that "you" will believe you are still alive but never know for sure whether you actually died when transfered from one version to the next.
There is a very interesting theory on Spec Ops the line. You see when I played the game, by the end of the story everything made sense except one line. The game kind of takes a flashback approach at the start. However, when you reach the flashback point .. ..after sometime in the story.... there's a line which is along the lines of "Wait we have experienced this before". You see why would the character say this? The flashback was for us and not the characters. Unless it was no flashback at all. After this act..... All the cuts in cinematics are in black where previously it was in white . This leads to a theory that the helicopter crash killed them. The entire game is basically the dying dreams of a man ...... Seeking to end the mission in his dream atleast. This is further proven by how those vague hallucinations and visions are dream like throughout the game becoming more prominent by the end and the multiple endings that the game has.
To me this is 100% the truth especially considering one of the devs came out and said the fade to white is hallucinations and the game starts with a fade to white
That part was a last minute addition since the suits wanted to have a turret chase sequence at the start of the game. The lead writer was against it and put that line in the game because he was pissed.
@@legonidasCZSo he was pissed and added a line that kind of made an entire new plot theory possible?
@@anweshamandal6338 I would have to reread the book, but the way I remember it was that it was his to defy his bosses. The hell theory is just people reading too much into it.
Soma reminds me of I have no mouth and I must scream...the type of horror that's so eternal and incomprehensible that you don't even want to think about it. Like being at a job you hate but you can't leave.
god, the ending of the cp77 chapter of the vid, with kerry's song, made me tear up bro. cp77 hit so hard for me and nailed home a lot of things, it's one of few games where I felt like I was the character. Both suffering from similar things. Wanting to go in a blaze of glory but later finding out friends and family are ten times better
It really is a powerful message, and thanks so much for supporting what I do!
@@FranklyGaming no problem dude, I loved the video
Bruh, that Outer Wilds nihilism speech really got me. Nothing in the grand scheme of things really matters and thats why it actually does on a smaller scale ...
My man, you know how to make people start thinking O.o
Appreciate that man! Glad you enjoyed
I think my current V is the most "me" character. Stealth, reflexes when caught - Sandervistan - just a throwing knife and a silenced pistol. Doesn't let Claire become just another killer. Makes Josh rethink about his choices and reasons behind them. That kind of V. And in the end, she will not go out in a blaze of glory. And she'll definitely not take the coward's way out. She'll live her last days in peace, putting things right and attempting to find a way to halt her condition.
You could easily do a second version of this video with some titles you missed: Metal Gear Solid 2 Son's of Liberty about manipulation of information and control over who knows what, Fallout New Vega's "What should we leave in the rubble of the old world?" a question present constantly with Mr's House core identity, Prey about the nature of empathy and so on.
Dangers of dependending on technology and value of challenges in "Trails in the sky 2". Minor spoilers!
The ancient race depended on technology (1 supercomputer) to fullfill every wish. Being given everything, people started to degradate, due to loss of meaning of life. And when a part of humans wanted to be free from that type of lifestyle, by turning off the supercomputer, the machine did not allow it. Afterward humans succeeded and imprisoned the supercomputer, but it threw them back at a very primitive level, needing to start civilisation from almost scratches. Also I love how after people in "modern times" loose access to advanced technology, an old woman pounders that reliance on the technology has made people weak in absence of it.
Still need to get around to playing trails the world does sound cool
@@FranklyGaming To be honest, I put down for a year a certain game in the series ("Trails in the zero", 4th in play order), because the writing was so great that it overwhelmed me. I got so excited, that I needed a breather afterward. What you might not like are that there is basically no dialogue options. Instead you get VERY fleshed out world with great writing.

“Can you imagine the worst life possible? One filled with anger, abuse, torture and damn-“
*Clash of Clans ad pops up*
😂😂😂
This video is amazing! The topics discussed in these games are truly well thought out, they work well, I especially love outer wilds, optimistic nihilism, the thought that in the face of death, light can be found.
(I’m going to bed now so I’ll watch the rest of the video when I wake up, amazing so far!)
Okay, I’m back. I loved the way it ended up panning out, I’d honestly say that many of the questions pondered in these games, all encompassed something to do with friendship. Being with others, cultivating relationships, love, teamwork, a bond that can stand the end of the universe, a determination of the future, a guiding force, love even through pain, all these things are most ponderous of the human mind, and so profound to discuss. Amazing job, I love how this was all put together.
Thanks so much for the support! Glad to see you guys are enjoying it loved making this video
Kotor 2 is the first game that had me ask myself these philosophical questions. Kreia's lecturing after giving that beggar credits has always stuck with me, that despite attempting to help you simply condemn him to greater suffering and that maybe what you're doing is depriving him of the opportunity to grow and stealing it for yourself. Other questions too of course but that's the one I remember most.
Loved this.
As for other profound sayings & concepts I've encountered in games,
from GoW Ragnarok "The nature of a thing's more important than the form of a thing"
& from Elden Ring the concept of "Destined Death"
Thanks for the support! And those are some good ones too especially destined death, there is so many awesome things in games out there to think about might make more videos like this
For me one of the most impactful moments in gaming, was the reunion DLC in fallout new vegas and the payphone scene in disco elysium.
Outer Wilds is such a powerful game. Finding out about the Sun Station and thinking "I'll stop what they did and save the solar system!" and then finding out the Sun Station actually failed and that the sun reached its natural death blew me away. One of the greatest games ever made.
Fuck Dark Bramble tho
Ya the message and moments in outer wilds really are something great, loved doing that section of this video
Personally I think the storyline behind Final Fantasy 14 is the best answer to the 'Our Eternal Suffering' question. It's also optimistic nihilism perfectly represented. So much deep meaning in some games. I loved your take on Cyberpunk 2077 and Deus Ex as these are some of my favourite games for their complex meanings.
Final fantasy would be a great one to dive into, and thanks so much for watching!
I never played ff14 do you recommend it ?
@@FireHill20 If you have the time to invest it has a fantastic and very meaningful main storyline.
@@Zoey-- but do I have to play anything else or just that ?
@@FireHill20 I've never played another final fantasy game so you should be fine.
LOVE it! I see why you are so proud of it. Hope this video will blow up, so you make more of these. Maybe even community edition.
Really appreciate it man, loved making this video for sure will think of some more similar ideas
Love the vid! It helps me think about things in life and reflect on it dearly!
It also reminds me of two of my favorite games recently played: Signalis & Omori.
One focuses on the inevitability of a tragedy happening, and what would you do when it comes down to it, does it matter?
The other focuses on trauma and how someone naive and innocent can suppresses from it.
Thanks so much for the support! And I’ll have to look them both up haven’t heard of them
I love the themes of Night City’s lust in the romance options.
How every romance will want to bang you, but Panam, the one NOT from NC, the only way V has to get out, will deny your advances.
Ya the romances in cyberpunk are done really well, most games are just like “sure I’ll fuck” haha
Panam does get with you though, and she didn’t deny anything.
She was more into you than you to her.
@@acewmd. in the first mission with her, after you hunt down the guy with Widow Maker, Nash, you go to the Sunshine Motel, where she goes to get a room, V suggests they get one room, she books one room, pointedly with two beds, when further pressed about it she says she knew what you wanted, and to leave it.
During Riders on the Storm, after the skezzed up Saul leaves the room with a “haboob”, V can suggest Panam “get a little more comfortable”, which she will again deny.
Admittedly, at the time I posted this comment, I had yet to choose the lustful dialogue in Queen of the Highway, and assumed that right before anything could happen between them Militech would attack, which would’ve been a great way to symbolize Night City’s curse coming between Panam & V.
@@Firefight_ I didn’t even try to romance her and it forced me into a sex scene in the tank, she was way more into you than you to her. She just didn’t like your guy because he instantly came on too strong and stayed that way.
@@acewmd. haha what the heck?
Do you honestly think it was forced on you?
I’ve played panams story through so many times I can say with 100% confidence that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
In the future, don’t pick any dialogue options with a 👄 symbol on them. That means coitus.
And if you were forced into a sex scene, I’d say you downloaded the wrong Cyberpunk.
Or perhaps you like to pretend you were forced because you like to feel victimized, in which case, you have deeper problems.
Glad Soma made the list. That’s the first question that came to my mind.
Definitely had to include that on the list, want to do more videos like this too on specific games or ideas was fun to make
@@FranklyGaming maybe try with the talos principle?, it made me think a lot back in the day
Your philosophical explorations are what drew me to your channel, and, as always you never fail to impress. This was an amazing video; I'd love to see more from you like this!
Really appreciate it and thanks for the feedback! I want to do more too will probably do some dives into individual games in the future
Great video! And i just thought something about the twist of Papers Please with Jorgi. Throughout the game we have denied Jorgi with every forged passport he gave us, but every time he comes again he gives us a new, forged of course, passport but with less and less errors, so probably we as a player have taught Jorgi indirectly to make the perfect falsification because he has learnt from his mistakes. Ironic how Jorgi would one day help us to make forged documents for our own family. (idk if this is a wrong interpretation or too obvious, but find that interesting)
Exactly it’s kinda poetic in a way lol, and thanks for watching!
The question that Soma poses is one that humanity will have to figure out pretty soon here.
Whenever I see a science fiction story that says "uploaded their consciousness" to something, I automatically do not see that as the same person, but a whole new being that simply has the same memories and personality installed. Humans are strange, especially our brains. We have a memory, but we don't actually store memories in a bank like a hard drive in a computer. So how could we ever hope to TRANSFER our consciousness when we still don't have psychology or even medicine down to a completed science yet - it's all practice.
I love hearing this dude talk about cyberpunk. i hope he can dive deep on the phantom liberty DLC. just wanna hear more about cyberpunk and have this guy talk more about it.
Will definitely be diving more into phantom liberty once it is out, the dream is I could get an early code lol
@@FranklyGaming your other video's about cyberpunk like the iceberg learnt me up on some things i didn't know before. i wish you the best on getting an early code brother.
One of the most profound lines I’ve heard in a video game is a recent quote from Star Wars Jedi Survivor. I’ll look for it and reports back
So glad i subscribed after seeing the Cyberpunk analysis video a while back, im gonna get cozy and chill out watching this :P
Thanks so much for supporting what I do means a lot!
Dude, this is a great list. I love that you add in games that don't have huge followings. I was pleasantly surprised to see I Have No Mouth alongside these other more popular titles. Also, anyone who plays CRPGs is cool in my book. Good job.
Really appreciate it! Thanks for watching
This video will make people lives betters! So preach the harsh truths!
Idk if im late to the party but my favorite game is Bloodborne. To me it has so many different perspectives on philosophy questions that I think most people that take a moment to break it down will have their own outlook on what the game is trying to say. Which is nice considering the game is based on dreams so it makes sense thematically.
I would add the souls games to this list. They asks questions like is it worth to keep on going no matter the cost, it is a game about overcoming obstacles and it explores that through gameplay and story.
this has got to be one of the best videos I have ever seen, I tend to get unfocused while watching longer videos but this one kept me interested the whole time, thank you
that means a lot thank you so much!
I think the greatest question in gaming is :"If I were a worm would you still love me?"
Awesome video. I swear some of the best moments in modern games are like with kerry on the boat, no words, just music, the horizon and a vibe. They just just make you think. Vibe checks in games are so undderated.
Totally agree, and thanks for watching!
What I love about cyberpunk is it's not one sided saying "chasing your dreams is bad or good" it says it can be or not depending who you are. And that new cured V ending is a great addon to give us the option like we would in real life to choose the simpler smaller but happy life. For myself i deeply related to that
I'm so grateful I found your channel. The minecraft iceberg brought me here and your content serves as the perfect listening pieces for me on my night shift. It gets me thinking.
Means a ton thank you for all the support ❤️
Great list. Arcanum asks some profound questions, particularly the from Loghaire and Kerghan.
I like this video format, because I don't have to watch parts that don't really interrest me and still not miss out on much. Good work.
Appreciate that!
Frank finally covers a Square Enix game. Nier Automata is GOAT. I hope you actually played it too. ;-)
I did! Only around 10 hours tho need to finish it up as well
@@FranklyGaming wait you didn't even get to route C then?!
I thought your take away from Automata was really off the mark from what the game actually presents to us, and if you didn't play route C, then that makes sense why.
God being dead and machines having emotions aren't really a focus point of automata.
When you said we learn machines have emotions in route B, I knew that was off because we see that clearly as early as meeting pascal, or even chasing the desert bot to adams crater.
And you also said we learn humanity is extinct in route A. Which is just incorrect, we learn that in route B as 9S.
So you mixed up some info there. It's the reverse order really.
The majority of automatas core ideas and philosophies is in route C. It's the main part that makes automata such a universally renowned game.
Playing route C completely changes the context and feeling of the game, and things become far more despairing, depressing and sad.
So I can see why your take away is what it was, if you didn't play route C. But either way I cannot encourage you enough to play route C. It's what makes Automata, Automata.
For a writer like me this is the best video ever that describes the stories perfectly without spoiling what happens, this is the best writing analysis I ever seen - just Perfect
Thanks so much!
Video games can work without a message but I think that video games have a HUGE potential when they use control and immersion as the extension of its message like Cyberpunk 2077, Soma and others, video games is an art when they aren't afraid to ask questions and give deep beyond just gameplay
This is fantastic. If you hadn't included Planescape:Torment, there would've been trouble. But several of the other games I never played and probably never will, and it was great to get this insight into them, especially since the idea of a central question in a story is something I've been investigating myself, lately.
Thanks for watching!
Bro this was actually REALLY GOOD! In order I enjoyed the Cyberpunk, Spec Ops the Line, and Niar Automata sections! Spec Ops the Line is one I have not played but had watched a friend play before.....wow the nostalgia + moral questions and story from that one have blown my mind!
Glad you enjoyed it! Good seeing you on the discord too lol
destiny 2 - "how's your sister?"
😂
one of the most profound question for me is from the games "Lobotomy corporation" and it's sequel "library of ruina"
"how can you surpass a trauma, rebuild yourself, and forgive those who have done terrible things to you?"
but there are many many more questions and incredibly profound moment in this game serie. it show how far a dystopia can go and evolve in multiples flavor, what make you human, how absurdly we can belive into something, what is love, how a bad day can turn you into a monster, the consequences of war, ext.
really the project moon games are incredibles.
The question that soma displays is also a major question asked in the devil ending of cyberpunk, where v cooperates with arasaka. And the whole biochip overriding ur brain with another conscious also hits that note very much
That Deus EX segment wouldve been a phenomenal transition to a Nord VPN sponsor
Missed oppurtunities 😂
4:31 you scared the shit outta me, I wasnt expecting our protagonist to look so similar
Thiks iş really high quality. You deserve much more
Really appreciate that! Thanks for helping the channel grow
Feels nice to slowly feel forgotten and alone 😊
This is one of the most entertaining videos I’ve watched in a bit, I really love your deep dives and analysis dude, keep it up!
Thanks so much for the support! Really helps the channel
The rare CP2077 ending is the one i got the first time. It broke me, but at the same time, i was in awe of the work the devs put into it.
It was perfect. PERFECT. Down to the last minute detail.
Thanks for watching!
Cyberpunk 2077 changed how I viewed my life.
I've always been so, so terrified of being forgotten. Of just being another face in the crowd, lost to history. I had so much self loathing because I wanted to be more, but could never actually achieve that.
But the quiet life...appealed ot me. There's no glory in it, no fame, but it's fulfilling. There's a humble beauty in just living your life, surrounded by the people you love, doing what you love, irreverent of what anyone else thinks. It resonated with me, and I don't know if it will ever leave me.
I hunbly suggest the following games for your consideration:
Zero Escape Trilogy - as a series dealing with mental time travel where you experience different timelines without forgetting them, you may feel growing desensitized to the deaths of other characters. Then the game flat out tells you it was doing that to you on purpose to prepare for what must be done. The toying with determinism and non-mental time travel in the third game in particular also may give you many a sleepless night.
Iconoclasts - as the name.implies, it's about breaking conventions. At its core, it's a story about a girl rebelling against being forbidden to go into what is seen as a male-only profession (after her late father) so hard, she accidentally topples the theocracy of her country, and then learns how it came to be. It is an interesting study of dogmatism (the deuteragonist, meanwhile, is opposing her own country's traditionalism regarding having babies) that peels back how idealists and revolutionaries can become the monsters they opposed once.
Doom Eternal - behind all the shooting and the gore, the final game in the series also focuses on the lore of how the angel equivalent that are supposed to oppose the Hordes of Hell actually oppose the Doomslayer fighting them. It culminates in a fun variation of "Heaven and Hell can only work as described if Satan is God's employee" by eventually revealing that here, the Satan equivalent is God that grew tired of his creations.
Loop Hero - the bad guy won, the universe is erased into nothingness. Except for this one guy who remembers being a hero, and he remembers walking down a road, and as long as he remembers, the road exists. Then he starts remembering other stuff too. Forests, towns, monsters, and if he fights them, he gets stronger, and he defeats the evil lich that erased the world... And learns he did it on someone's orders. Along the way, it does all sorts of neat plot trickery with "as long as I remember it, then it exists" and unleashes a few sources of existential dread unto the player.
I’ve heard other people suggest zero escape! Definitely a lot of things I’ll need to check out in the future for sure, thanks for watching!
As someone who has both played the game and now watched your Tyranny video, I think a lot pf themes from Tyranny should be on here as well.
I would also throw in Silent Hill 2 - what would you do for your loved ones? Could you kill them? What if they wanted you to? What if they were terminally ill, would you stay by their side or end their suffering? What would your motive be for these actions? Could you move on with your life bearing the guilt of your actions? What would it take for you to forgive yourself?
Not the most profound question at its face because if we're being idealistic we would answer with "we would do everything we can to help them". But the more we age, the longer we live, the deeper our understanding of ourselves grows, yet at the same time, things just become more complicated. The more we know ourselves, the more themes like these resonate with us because the more we start to question whether we could truly act in the "ideal" way that we envision ourselves to. Because the more we understand that our thoughts, our philosophies and ideologies are dynamic, and how they can change so quickly.
All of a sudden, a seemingly simple question becomes far more complicated.
Great video glad you see the bigger picture in some games, a lot of this goes over some of our heads
Thanks for supporting!
When you discussed nihilism and "Outer Wilds" I kept thinking of how it applied to "Everything Everywhere All At Once." :)
My favorite movie ever! Because of that exact message
Ffxiv endwalker “was this life a gift or a burden?”
Definitely want to cover some more things in future videos too this could be a good one
"A man choses, a slave obeys." I still can't remove Andrew Ryan's voice from my head after playing that game. That line feels so personal to me because when i was younger I somehow develop a mentality to just do what is asked of me and not ask question. Thankfully, I have the opportunity to play Bioshock when I'm older and when I heard that line, I began contemplating my mentality. So, since then I've been slowly learning to see things not on just the surface level and questioning things in more detail. So yeah, started to slowly learning how to make choices ever since I heard that line.
Part 2 when ? I’d like to see you talk about Returnal it definitely has some meaning behind its story.
Will make some more videos like this on specific games have to think about which ones I want to talk about, think returnal would be great
you should play "To The Moon" by Free Bird, It was one of best story driven game I have ever played. And it asks some interesting questions about life.
1 hour of philosophies that only gamers ever get to see. Damn, talk about a first impression!
Thanks for watching!
Bioshock definitely presents some good material for stuff like this, “A man chooses, a slave obeys” - Andrew Ryan
A question I would like to see tackled in a game would be, ''Is Theistic Absurdism a viable philosophy to use in one's life''?
Okay dude, let me check
Cyberpunk? Yep!
Outer world? Here!
Prey? Not mentioned! WHAT?!?!?
Wtf, dude?) don’t let me down next time, list isn’t full, be attentive next time 😏😉
LOL me and not mentioned prey in a video should be criminal 😂, I almost added it but was to similar to some I already had honestly
Judy‘s reaction to the suicide ending fucked w my head
Planescape: Torment is a masterpiece and Chris Avellone is a genius writer. The best in gaming if you ask me.
Would love to see a game that can live up to it or a full next gen remake with the same story and places etc
@@FranklyGaming I really enjoyed Torment: Tides of Numenera. It's a spiritual successor set in a different universe but Chris and a few other original devs/writers worked on it as well. It's not as good but it comes near and I do recommend it.
@@Revanchist been thinking about trying this
Knights of the Old Republic II is also written by Chris Avellone.
Never break down so hard and having hard time to enjoy playing games for years since i finished nier automata, its the peak gaming as storytelling medium experience, thank god recently i found yakuza series and finally play at least 30 minute a day
Horizon ZD's question of whether to leave the next generation with all the knowledge we've accrued over time-countless tomes and relics and records of events both victorious and atrocious, or to destroy it in the hopes they don't learn from our worst examples of conflict, problem solving and inherently dangerous innovation only to (potentially) repeat it is the one that both sticks with me and genuinely conflicts me. Absolutely profound if not new, but awesome to see it represented in rather palatable dystopia
1. You know what i like about cyberpunk? V is the only legend that got out in the night city "alive" though we knew he/she is sick but who knows he/she might be alive behind whats happenin in his/her life. He/She choose both, He/she live in blaze and glory and at the end suddenly settling down for a quite life :>
2. What can change a nature of man? For me anything can change a nature of a man, no matter how evil or good you are you change anyway for a greater good or for worst its depends on what you encounter during your travels its not about the destination its the people you meet along the way and it will always change your nature and you alone will only know the answer, each riddle have different answers since the protagonist have different nature on each play.
3. What does it means to be alive? being aware of your so rounding, just being you, and doing things is simply enough that you are living once you meet the last human being alive you will realize(or maybe not) what it means to be alive human or not because once your the only one that is left and aware, you realize that your "Alive." now you know the answer. Not everything is alive i don't know how to answer but the only thing i say is if you saw a living being but they are not aware or something then they are just simply "Living" and not being "Alive."
4. Its not meaningless The answer is you should accept that things will always end and that is something not meaningless. Trying, doing things that hoping it will not end over and over again in a loop THAT is something that are really meaningless. If you know it will never change no matter how much you tried then simply accepting it is something else. Life will always end one way or another but end up the same and the only thing you can do is appreciate everything that it is and what your doing before it ends and once again its something not meaningless its always mean something, atleast you tried.
5. freedom is quite an illusion, when you thought your free at the end you will be bound by another new rule without knowing your the one who made that new rules. for example if you break a law and gained freedom still then another new law will be set but its not a bad thing, Not all people wanted freedom, people wanted to be control to avoid, to create things that simply enough to not make it complicated, overwhelming or create of new complex thing that are more confusing just like what the society we live right now. Because if you want freedom then simply you just want to set your own rules on others or maybe you wanted something that lead you to your own destruction instead.
6. Greater good is what you perceive, some others commit good and bad for what? for the greater good, life is not always fair but if what your doing is for the greater good? Then its up to you or people on how they see it either it will help your or not at the end.
7. No mouth but i must scream is something else to me way back before. just because the world is suffering it means you suffer also, were the one who created our own prison and its up to us on what would we do while in it and what affect would it bring that it could change, choosing whats worth to suffer for.
8. Our mind is our own prison, every person have our own darkness and its up to us how to drive it back, back in control of our ownself knowing our self even in very harsh situation and were in control it will never drive us mad. understanding that we have good and bad in us will keep us together.
9 God is dead its up to your belief either its died or not, believing into something its the only thing that made us to push forward, drive us to continue even though were having a hard time, feeling lost if there is something that we always cling to, it will always push ourselves to the fullest knowing that there is something we believe, something we want to reach that we know at the end is worth fighting for, Because once we lost what we believing for or what we cling is something meaningless, something no purpose, and lead us that we are lost and don't know what to do drive us to stop and let it all lost. In neir simply they have to find something to cling on enable to continue what fighting for. Humanity are instinct but the new one who start living in that world that once belong to human now belong to someone else are another reason or new purpose to cling on to believe that all are not lost after all it means there is something new that are starting to rise.
That is all the answer for me, all of this answer are my own opinion so there is no right or wrong :> so don't hate me And this is so fun to watch and listen and feels like a wisdom words to me :>
Love the insight and opinions you have on each love discussions like this, thanks for watching!
Fantastic taste in games.
Definitely added a few to the wishlist after this.
Thanks for the support!
No Legacy of Kain? Literally one of the best franchises of all time with the deepest questions few can actually answer? Here's one from that world: "Given the choice whether to rule a corrupt and failing Empire or to challenge the fates through another throw, a better throw against one's desteny what was a king to do? But does one trully have a choice? One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate and thus defy the tyrannous stars". There are two questions there, in fact.
About AI: They're trained on creative works that humans have already created. If ChatGPT or Midjourney or whatever did not have a whole sea of online conversations and art from real humans, it would not be working as effectively as it currently. Its 'creativity' is derived, not something it intrinsically possesses
I’d argue human thought it similar though, it’s a very interesting debate but as an “artist” myself, 100% think machines can do anything I can, including creating beautiful music and scenes that inspire, maybe I’ll talk about it on stream some time
@@FranklyGaming If you gave a baby a crayon without saying anything, it would attempt to draw a crude drawing of its surroundings or an image from a bedtime story you read to it at some point. The pictures would be illegible but you'll still be able to make out what it was trying to draw, Today's AI as advanced as t is, cannot produce anything competent with such minimal input and also requires a prompt to even begin the process. I also believe we will one day close that gap as well
@@sindurwavesismaturf I guess I would argue even the great human artists are the same, its nothing more than math and algorithms in the brains of neurons firing that take in outside sensory information and translate it into "art". Can that be spawned from machines? We will have to find out but my guess is yes, and what they are doing now in my opinion is essentially already what humans are doing without even knowing it.
My man!! This video was simply amazing! Pat yourself on the back, cause I cant do it myself!!!
Really appreciate that thanks for watching!
Nah, Don't Fear the Reaper, Baby. Despite the bad shit, despite everything, I fucking love Night City, and I chose to be the God Damn Legend of Night City!
Your just one mention of nier automata made me search up the game and research about the plot. God bless you I really needed a change of game
idk about cyberpunk, for me it's the other way around, it's about fighting for your future to the end despite all the hardships or even inevitable death, take everything from life and be the person who tried and did everything to achieve your goals
I have not mouth and I must scream? I thought I was the only one who remebered this gem
hey man, i'm a french dude and i NEVER comment youtube videos, i just watch and vibe
your vid is incredible man i never played those games but that was a real adventure to follow for each one of them, thanks for that
Anytime man! Appreciate the support on the channel
Bro really went from what is glory to what is god
Thanks for watching hahah
Most pleasant notification that i got for last half of hour 🤌🏻
Appreciate the support ❤️
Great video, and great choices! Planescape is my fave because it’s such a thought provoking question but the game never offers a true answer and even suggests the question might never have mattered at all.
I did miss, “ Hold! What you are doing to us is wrong! Why do you do this thing?"
Thanks for watching I appreciate it! And ya got into planescape recently after finally getting into CRPGs, I’ve been missing out
@@FranklyGaming Planescape had unusually good writing tho. I’m convinced it was written by a gaggle of philosophy grad students. If you haven’t already played it, while distinct in theme and narrative, Disco Elysium offers similarly spectacular writing and thought provocation. Be prepared for a dialogue heavy experience where easily half the dialogue happens within your own psyche.
blistering love is such a beautiful song, gives me chills all the time (the synthwave-love song version from the cinema mission, one that plays in the video, not the metal version). Btw if u want a similar song listen to "she's a glitch" by mega drive.
50:00 best part about this is humans don't have to be pushed to the max to turn into monsters, to kill and to torture. people do that for pleasure, for the "good" basically everyday
This video really provoked thought for me. Though I would sacrifice my life without hesitation to save another family, i would sacrifice another family without hesitation to save my own. It's very grey area. Nier is my favorite game of all time.
'To defeat a monster, one must become a monster themselves. "
Edit: I never erased my save. This video made me realize it's time to and help my people.
Thanks so much for supporting the video I’m glad you liked it! Time to erase that save haha
@@FranklyGaming Nier is the only game I've ever got ALL the achievements for. For all mankind! Lol
Soundtrack, commentary - 👌 really good piece, FranklyGaming.
I am a thoughtful man and I do my best to be what you discuss inn the first 2 minutes. Yet, you made me think. For that, thank you.

Bro make more i love these deep dive kind of videos
Appreciate it! And I for sure plan on making more

Saving this video for whenever I'll play all these games
The Metro series of games and books has made me ask some of the most philosophical questions of my life. I highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys much deeper meanings to stories.
lack of the legion quote from mass effect makes me sad
Almost included this or seran speech I think I’m going to do individual questions in future videos too like this, I put soma in place for now, and thanks for watching!
