I was slightly worried, but glad this video is clearing the air. I have a Win10 Laptop with GTX1050 and I really had no reason to upgrade for a while yet except for if CS:2 needed it. Glad to see I’ll probably be able to keep my laptop for another year or two before I build a good pc.
The good thing is cs2 actually uses your gpu as much as your cpu now Not just massive cpu and very little gpu In conclusion: although the performance might be a little worse. (Or better if yout cpu is really bad) At least it will be very stable
I have an Acer Nitro 5 with 1050 Ti and i7-8750H, I hope I can get at least 160-170 fps, even on low/medium settings. Who knows, maybe high will work as well
I wouldn't go as low as a laptop from 2012 but in my experience if you have an gtx1060 or better and a fitting CPU you are fine. I play with an RX570 8GB and Ryzen 1600x on low settings (Very High textures, 2x MSAA, FSR off) and often max out the 144 fps limit of my monitor BUT just throw a smoke and it goes down to 70-90 FPS. Walking through water with your head down can even get me down to 50 so i think there is some optimization to do. Important to note: Source 2 feels much smoother on low FPS, above 70-80 FPS is fine imo. Also: While FPS can vary strongly depending on water and smoke effects, the engine seems to be able to maintain a baseline fps which it doesn't undercut independent of the amount of effects.
@@Smuxfy well it is source 2 and this was when optimisation updates weren’t out and I’ve heard there has been a 30% fps increase after some updates edit: I did this same test earlier and on all settings all cards got above 45 fps and also on high the RTX cards got above 100 fps

I find your conclusion that cs2 is well optimised but because it is running on an old pc with such frames difficult, especially those jumps from 40 to 90 tells me that it is very poorly optimised in terms of performance. Csgo is a game that runs on the source 1 engine and these games need a strong cpu, with a strong cpu you get more frames out of the games than with a good gpu. With cs2 it's different, it needs less CPU power but a good graphics card. And also in current state I find cs2 has a very poor performance while I have stable 400 frames on cs2 with an amd ryzen 5800x and gtx 1080OC. Runs cs2 somewhere between 140 and 600 fps. The problem that all influencers say it's well optimised and run around in offline lobbies doesn't reflect the performance value you get online. Sorry but I don't agree with you at all especially since in my opinion you didn't look into the tests enough and obviously only played against bots to testing it. And I’m sure I have not the badass pc like a lot ppl who run csgo with such 140-200 frames. But I know a lot of optimising pcs and get the best results in a game. A reason why I set it up my pc for csgo and it runs stable these frames it’s not u buy pc turn on pc and get good frames, it’s more. And everything I tried gives me not a different performance in cs2 cuz of my gpu, and my gpu is normally not a bad thing but this is the reason why I say cs2 is bad optimised, if I can reach frames like 600 or higher but it drops to bad situations on the 140 let me know a lot of the performance. They need do a lot of performance fixes in this case. To make frames stable.
