- In this series, I will take you to the swamps and forests of Hilton Head Island, to search for some of it's incredible wildlife. This episode is dedicated to some of the awesome reptiles I found while exploring the island's natural places.

1:05 been there many times. Looks like a great day of herping. Nice finds!
Nice haha. It was definitely an awesome day, thanks a ton!
Do you have any recommendations on Hilton head Island aside from the Sea Pines Forest preserve? I’m only on the island for a couple more days and I would like to at least get more than just garter snakes before I head out. I would love some Nerodia , cottonmouths, or really any other snakes aside from garters!
Question did you miss the banded water snake bc of fear of getting bitten or did it just get away. I love handling snakes but have never taken a bite therefore I tend to be still really cautious. My daughter(8) is now picking up my interest in snakes and I wanna really show her the proper ways of approaching and handling wild snakes. I did a short version with a rat snake awhile back by moving it then showing her how to make them aggressive letting it strike my shoe. I assume once you do take your first bite the caution kimd of goes to the wind once you actually realize there is nothing to it
Is this true?
It was just really fast, but for sure after the first bite it isn't scary anymore. It doesn't even really hurt, it's just the initial fear that gets you.
what did you do there, play golf?
Haha no, I explored the whole time!
The Wild Report how long did u stay there?
Four days.
I live here
No way, do you see a lot of snakes?
Don’t get close to the water there are gators. You aren’t in Kansas
Good advice. They aren't usually too aggressive though.
