Ram don’t mess this up … all we want is a solid transmission … that’s all we want . I can live with the rest .

Yup, my sediments exactly. Hemi is tried and true and along with a ZF trans. Great combo and power train. I can deal with the rest also.

In different versions It’s been great and proven behind the 5.7, Ecodiesel, and now 6.4 in HD. I transport TTs & boats commercially with my engine & trans tuned 2014 Ecodiesel 724,000 miles. That said even 500 foot pounds is nothing like the hurt the Cummins will put on it.
Towed as much as 16,000 CVW over 6 percent grades. Changed fluid every 100k miles and filter every 200k. Only problem was a simple solenoid failure at 695,000. Problem was they needed to replace the whole board assembly for lack of proper terms which would be costly. The cost affective solution was a low mile salvage unit that I had swapped in that I bought for $1,260. (Not that this is always plug n play.)
I don’t know if the ZF can become a better trans or cost effective option as to the two transmission options they have now but I’ve been impressed with mine for the work and power level I’ve used.

      Nope. Maybe 2023. I've seen a 2022 POC for both an SO/68RFE and HO/Aisin.

Finally, a worthy transmission behind the Cummins. Ram has needed this for years. This new ZF8 speed also explains why Thomas Bus didn’t spec the Eaton Procision, opting instead to wait for this unit. I’ll wait for the 2019/20 Ram Heavy Duty!

Just a quick point of clarification: The Ram was simply ZF's test vehicle. They have not announced availability in OEMs yet.

I have seen this video before. But I enjoy the 8-speed behind my Ecodiesel. And also in my Dodge Durango. My wife has a 2018 Ram 2500 Crewcab 4wd with the 6.7L Cummins. It has the 3.42 ratio. I have been thinking about having the ratio changed to 4.10 to allow 35 inch tires. And better low speed throttle control. The 68RFE just is not low enough for 1st and 2nd gear. My daughter and son-in-law have a 2018 Ram 3500 Megacab 6.7L Cummins and 3.42 ratio. The Aisen 6-speed is NOT really any better. A bunch of people better wake up since Ford & GM offer a 10-speed. The Cummins has the superior engine brake with the VGT turbo. And a Pac-Brake can be added on top of that.
I will gladly buy the retrofit for my wife's truck. Just give us that option

I can see that the transfer case controls have a 4WD Auto button, which has never been a feature in any heavy duty Ram. Is a new transfer case coming with the transmission?

Nice. I wonder if they are considering performance applications e.g truck pulling. It will be interesting to see how this trans does in the mountains. The gaps between gears with the 6 speed are just a bit big for the Cummins with its low rpm
