    I've owned my I-pace for a couple months now. I NEVER thought I'd love this car as much as I do, it handles and drives better then I ever imagined; so much fun to drive and a truly amazing vehicle. The only reason it's not an authentic English car is on account of it not leaking oil.....but they're working on that! Can't say enough great things about this car, buy one, drive it for a week and you'll never want to go back to internal combustion

    I like how Sergio Jimenez talks about the sounds they are used to having a race car, then going to the e race cars. I can understand that part of automotive and motorcycle races for me is the sounds of the engines and the going through the gears.
    Electric cars are cool but not a cool as V8 going through a tunnel or under a bridge.
    And its nice to have a video when the host-presenter knows his stuff and lets the guests talk.

    5:05 No, the local residents will still be disrupted because of the logistics of closing streets, resurfacing, taxpayer money being spent on it, etc. I think hypothetically speaking, were the cars combustion-engined, noise would be the least of their worries, nor the pollution from the race. The true disruption comes from having roads closed near where you live and/or commute. EV races still cause these disruptions.

      @@FrntRow The i-pace is made in Austria as Jonny said , not the UK , around 90% of charging is done at home or at a destination charger at work , so the supercharger network is not the big deal its made out to be at the moment but it is gradually getting more popular. If it was trash the Jag would not of won dozens of awards from motoring experts including German car of the year , which is unprecedented also European & World car of the year !

    • @FrntRow
      @FrntRow 5 років тому

      Okay so they are made in Austria, I'd still expect to see some driven by Staff if they were any good.
      As of the data from April 2018 to Sep 2019 they have sold 15,653 iPace in Europe. Total. US is around 2k more.
      From Jan 2019 to Sep 2019 Tesla sold 63,362 Model 3's in the EU.
      In the US in 2018 alone they sold 139,782 Model 3's.
      2019 looks to be closer to 200k. This is not counting Model S. Or Model X's.
      So in a shorter time period Tesla sold over 4 times as many cars in Europe and 698 times the amount in the US (in a shorter period)
      So 18,000 iPace sold Globally since launch.
      220,000 Model 3's sold globally in 1 year.
      Regardless of where its made, the iPace is still obviously trash 😂

      @@FrntRow They are restricted to 20,000 car year production, they are selling what they can make it seems, the other cars probably went to other countries and fulfilling Waymo order for 20,000 of them. They are also unlikely to continue to invest in manufacturing expansion in Austria, as they look to get electric manufacturing up and running in the UK, an presumably the company own manufacturing facilities overseas and take manufacturing back in house.

    Compliance race car. Hate the Formula E parroting road tires.
    Hope they'll make a more weight reduced version with fancy inverters and motors. To FE motors, for instance. Not a lot of power combined, but easy to push all race.
    I like that they started doing it, not the way they went about it.
    With a bit of effort, a BEV touring car can hang with BTCC and the like. Just not for very long races just yet. But even Rally Cross performance is absolutely doable with race specific equipment. Smaller lighter battery, more tuned chassis, panels replaced for fibreglass.

      There's no need to shout!
      The second "the" is superfluous.
      Whatever not whichever.
      Your opinion is as worthless as anyone else...
      Mostly though, if the car manufacturers don't produce what people want to buy...

    Is that the brakes I hear when Jonny is driving? That sounds horrific.
    I think they should dial up the regen to the max. There’s no reason not to. You are either wanting to accelerate, hold speed, or decelerate. No other choice.

    Shame the cars are built in Austria.. Be better if they built them in the UK? If I was thinking of buying one ( and had the money ) I would not because they are Austrian built. The Tesla Model X be a better choice any way.

      So you don' buy a car that is build in Europe but prefer a higher priced american car. Can't follow that reasoning. And for me the I-pace looks better than the model X.

    • @youferrer
      @youferrer 5 років тому +1

      @@mgammeren Agreed. I drove both and bought the I-Pace. The X is a better option if you have 3+ kids. I don't so it didn't work for me.

    A SUV should never be called a "Mustang" because it's not a sportscar. It's at most a "Galax-E"...
