I’m 24 and originally from the UK. I gained my U.S. Citizenship last October. Got my cybersecurity (STEM) degree (4.0) last year, and began flight training in February of this year. It’s my dream to fly in the USAF (ANG), and I’m hoping to apply when I turn 25. Thanks for the help!
Really loved this. I am from India, just now discovered this channel and I am simply learning a lot. Unfortunately I couldn’t join my country’s Air Force as it was my dream. Now I am inclined towards civil aviation though i can’t afford CPL. Hoping for some miraculous opportunity to fly.
Thanks for these videos! I just found your channel on here the other day. In the process of renewing my CFI and CMEL, and have also applied to my local ANG squad. Hoping to the Skibirds. Keep it up!
When Josh talked about poor vision being corrected through surgery. Air Force website says vision requirements Air Force pilot : Corrective eye surgery may disqualify applicants for pilot. Does this apply to any military flight position? Or just Air Force.
i wish at least one of the branches beside the Army would allow you to become a pilot without a bachelors degree. i don't really like the idea of having to spend another 4 years in school just to MAYBE get a pilot slot. but what am i gonna do about it
@@FreePilotTraining one other thing. im just curious, do you think or is there any talk of this requirement changing in the near future? i'm guessing the answer is no but i'd still at least like to be able to hear it from someone currently in the Air Force. thanks 😂
That depends on the unit you’re applying to and the time that you apply. Fighter units are usually more competitive and it all depends on how many pilots the unit needs
I’m 31, 10 AF service combined, I’m a reservist enlisted now. I have my PPL, working on IFR then commercial. Do you know what the age restriction is currently or what have you seen for low G aircraft. Would love to fly the C17, just finishing up my bachelors. Thank you for any insight.
When I went through, I was in a similar situation. The age limit was 30, but that is easily waivered. I actually think the age requirement went up, but I’m not sure what it is now. BogiDope is probably your best resource
New Subscriber here, great content and I’m glad I found this channel. I’ve been an aviation lover since the age of 7. I am a CPL Pilot with a multi engine rating and CFI roughly at 350hrs. Currently I’m in the process of enlistment with the ANG here in my home state GA. I chose to be in the maintenance sector. I do not hold a Bachelor’s degree although I do have a good amount of college credits and my goal is to get my degree and eventually apply for a Pilot slot within the unit I’ll be working with(they fly c-130’s). Based on your experience, do you believe that once I’m fully qualified, by being an enlisted I’ll have a higher chance of getting hired by my unit? Also, I’m currently 31 and by the time I’m qualified I’ll be 33, would an age waiver be something that the unit would be hesitant to deal with? Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and safe skies!
Awesome Rayan. You are definitely a good choice for the guard. You are definitely going the right route. The guard loves hiring their pilots from within the unit. That will give you a much better chance. I was maintenance before I swapped over. Unless you are super committed, I would highly recommend seeing if you could get a loadmaster slot instead of maintenance. I loved my time in maintenance, but being a loadmaster will translate a lot better into being a C-130 pilot, and you will learn stuff that you will actually use again once you get selected. It’s certainly not a deal breaker if you can’t do that though. You will still have an excellent shot at a pilot slot from the maintenance side. Hopefully I’ll see you around the C-130 community very soon!
Do you have an email? I have a few questions about this subject but don’t really want to put my situation in a public UA-cam comment section. Love your videos!

I think all the branches take PRK and LASIK. Just don’t get anything else

Trust me, I hated that too

Do you need a bachelors degree for all of the different routes?
Yes. Your bachelors will be paid for with the Academy and with ROTC though
Do you think one needs there ppl for a competitive chance at getting a pilot slot?
