You are supposed to denounce your Indian passport when you were issued the US passport. It is also written on a page in your Indian passport. You can apply for OCI if you still plan on travelling and maintaining Indian ties.

I'm pretty sure India can have more visa free agreements but its government chooses to make money from evisas. I see no reason why e.g. Russia or Belarus (two nations I'm a citizen of) won't agree to implement visa free travel with India on reciprocal basis. Belarus has such an agreement with China which is a very large nation. Arrogant European and North American nations may have additional requirements for Indians but India still can double or triple its visa free access to nations with a similar development level.
I would add one thing about the cost. Even if you renew Indian passport from USA, it costs 130 USD. I renewed my India passport in 2018 in US, and I paid 130 USD for ordinary service. Tatkal was around 250 USD i remember.
The difference between the Indian and American passport is that if you leave them to themselves, the American one will start endless speeches about "the land of the free and the home of the brave" and the Indian one will start singing and dancing.

I have scored 94% science (PCM) subjects in 12th board. I am prepairing for IIT Jam for MSC colleges in india. I have a question is that does it need a super genious person or brilliant child to become a professor in USA or to Doctrate in any good foreign country. I am a good student but i can't say i am brilliant child who study less and score more. I do hard work and good scrore. So this is question in my mind can an average or good student getting ( 85 to 95%) in 12th can dream of becoming a Professor because some time whe you dream of above your weight it can make life sufferable . You didn't get anything in your hand .

By having an Indian and another country passport at the same time, you've violated Indian citizenship act 1955. Which prohibits having a dual citizenship while holding an Indian passport with another citizenship at the same time.
Also ask your American govt to include a page every time you face a racial incident /discrimination in the states and mark those with a pencil on a page as tally marks (4 lines and a stroke) and then we will gauge the strength of both the passports on those tally marks

I think passport powers are based on diplomatic relations and how powerful a country is but I may be wrong
