- Welcome to the first episode of Touhou Explained! Here, I summarize and give my thoughts on the plot and characters of various pieces of Touhou media! For the first episode, I decided there is no better place to start than the game everyone knows and loves, Touhou Koumakyou: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Enjoy!

"CIrno is a meme and I refuse to take her seriously" -- I mean, the only way your icon could be better is if she had shutter shades.
Need to add Something:
-Both Remilia and Flandre aren't really theatened by sunlight. While Remilia is Just being weakened by the Sun(on Th6 Reimu's Ending, you can See chocking Remilia while she Gets Exposed nothing dramatic happened to her), Flandre in a Manga just has No chill and went outside at a day where the Sun shines and destroys a Meteorite. Therefore Sunlight only nerfs Remilia.
-Despite the Info, Cirno actually turns Out to be the smartest Fairy in Gensokyou. Im Not Sure how thought, since Luna Child can read Newspaper(which means Cirno might also be able to read). Also Cirno is still one of Few Combat Fairies who can actually kick you to oblivion, If you are Not a Shrine Maiden.
-Flandre Wasn't locked because of her Power, But because of her own will to do so. Despite her monstrous Power, she is still the Younger sister of a bigger Child who is Just afraid from the outside. Also for her Human doesn't taste good, which is why Remilia is the only ,,light" consumer of human's blood.
-Patchouli even without Asthma hasn't shown her true Power yet.
She still has some Tons of Magic spells, which some of them might even be Strong enough the World or even Universe(but im Not Sure Its the truth).

Let's not forgot that to become head maid you must defeat the previous head maid. And as many have tried as there are Thorium Isotopes......So seven.
Within some of the print works and omake texts through a few different official sources the scarlet mist incident is suggested to have been started by Remilia because the spellcard rules were recently established due to vampires coming into Gensokyo and she was wanting to be the first to put them to the test.
That has to be THE MOST Remilia thing I've ever heard. That's canon to me now
i love the feeling of playing trough all the games and then returning to the beggining to find out you can almost no hit it with no effort

Thank you. Watched a playthrough but didn’t really understand what was going on story-wise. This video helped fill in the blanks.
EOSD was the first and only game I've tried out after I got into Touhou sometime in 2015. Obviously it got me exhausted from going against Cirno and just wanted to just give up so I've let Hong purposely beat me. Since then, I'd never came back to finish it or even give the other Touhou games a try. So what if I can't beat them, at least I can say I've tried one of the games once.
Factual. I was only half joking when I said mastering the game requires a bit of insanity😅 honestly it's super awesome how being a touhou fan doesnt have to mean playing the games, there's so much other content that almost anyone can find something to enjoy and thats pretty sweet :)

Very insightful video, still don't understand touhou.
The entire promise of the series is mostly about something weird happening so Reimu, Marisa and sometimes a third or fourth girl have to go and find the culprit. You can start by playing the games or reading the lore if you suck at bullet hell. There are also official Touhou mangas (though there's no official anime adaptation). Also take a listen to the OST.

Worse, cirno meme was accidental. In the rules book the one responsible placed a "9 marker" on cirno by accident and as explanation "idiot"

You should at the very least watch all of the endings to the game before making a video like this (you have to 1cc to get a true ending). In the Reimu A ending Remilia shows up to the shrine, and we have this exchange where Reimu is like "I thought you were weak to sunlight", to which Remilia points out she's using a parasol, and Reimu responds with something like "if a parasol is enough, then this was all pointless". In the Reimu B ending Remilia is fully exposed to sunlight the whole time and nothing really happens to her.
