Gabapentin works by interacting with GABA receptors in the neural network, which modulates enzyme production in the brain. The result is mild sedation at the standard dose of 1,800-2,400mg, but strong euphoria when taken in very high doses.
This has led to an increasing rate of abuse, as other drug users will purchase Gabapentin and abuse it to get high. With many describing the effects of the drug as similar to those of opiates, Gabapentin is a prime candidate for abuse by opiate addicts.
Gabapentin’s primary side effects include:
Drowsiness and lethargy
Dizziness or loss of balance
Swelling

Potential suicidal ideation

I took twenty 300 mg tablets along with 9 baclavin 10 mg tablets and four 100 mg hydroxyzine tablets got me high AF. Lol. Got put on a hold spent six days in a psychecward unfortunately lol.
Withdrawal symptoms are rare ? Trust me when I tell you this is a crock of s*** my bed has been twisted in knots for a week and a s*** yucky low energy depressive state and my mouth has this crappy chemical taste of sorts exactly why I am digging through these channels right now .

Do you prescribe it to patients to aid in detox comfort with RLS & Anxiety? Back in 2010, the place I was at was giving everyone that didn't meet the criteria for Suboxone this drug along with Librium.

You take them the right way? You need to take like 3000mg spaced out 300-600mg every 30-45 minutes apart. Eat it with heavy fatty meal and a citrus soda....
I usually take 3... 800mg Gabapentin at first when I get my prescription and by the end of the week I'm taking about 8 to 9 at a time. It get you really high, a little dizzy but it kind of feels like an opiate. This is coming from a heroin addict. ...Oh and it is NOT rare to feel withdrawal effects from Gabapentin. It's rare not to feel them.
Enjoy the Alzheimer’s if you don’t stop taking it eventually. My in-laws are addicted to it, and mix it with opiate pills, kratum powder they drink, and with benzos. Scary.
@@romepix so where's your proof that Gabapentin causes Alzheimer's? But I do know taking any sort of medication in an excessive amount is not good. I will eventually stop taking them the way I do. But until then, my back hurts and I rather be on these then an opiate.

@Dirty Joe yeah there's only a few people I know that feel the same way I feel. Gabapentin is literally the worst stuff to come off of though. I tryed to come off of it a few months back and I only lasted like 3 days. Now I have enough Gabapentin to last me a few years, I don't ever want to run out. You can order the stuff online. @Dirty Joe the worst part about withdrawing off of it is that it last forever. I was an opiate addict for a very long time, those withdrawals are nothing compared to this. With an opium withdrawal, you start to feel better. With Gabapentin or pregabalin, it just keeps getting worse after a few months I heard it gets better. You can't think, you have no energy, you cannot sleep, you throw up and you have diarrhea. It's pretty similar to opium withdrawals, but it has a weird mental withdrawal also
I don't know anybody could get addicted to gabapentin I really don't I take it twice a day 300 mg for nerve pain burning pain for neurological stuff my concern is I get tired sometime later in the day I don't know if the gabapentin is the cause I have thyroid pill I'm on a half of a Zoloft 12.5 blood pressure pill at night Flonase ever since I start taking the Flonase it seems like to get tired I have no clue why
It calms you down. Its fantastic for withdrawals. Dont abuse it and youll be fine. Dont let us lose this. I could sleep after days of not. It took away the restless legs and restlessness feeling.

It's shouldn't wear off quick. Should kick in withing 2 hours and last between 8 and 12. I am on 600mgs and it helps with anxiety but not the pain. I have chronic torn muscles and spasms causing left leg sciatica. Only been on it for 3 days so hopefully it starts working for the nerve pain after a couple weeks. It can take up to 3 weeks to take full effect and you Dr will increase your dose as you go. I have bad anxiety and anger outbursts and the gabapentin is helping already with that. I take Robaxin and Kratom as well.

i’m on gabapentin, have been for a while, the first two weeks i had this high effect. my head felt very heavy along with my arms and i got dizzy but i was super calm. luckily, i never abuse it

I have lumbar radiculopathy, it's brutal and my leg is jacked up. I'm getting an injection soon but have been on ketorolac which did nothing. 5 days into 400mg gabapentin and nothing, no dizziness no sides at all. Hopefully something works, I have 3 months physio complete as well with minimal pain reduction.
Gabapentin is not that bad, it helps w/my back pain due to untreated Scoliosis & I don't feel "Euphoric" when on it .
I have been on Gabapentin for years for neuropathy. 300mg 3x day. I have never felt euphoric, etc. Only thing I ever noticed was if I attempted to stop. The neuropathy returned.
Any withdrawals when stopping?
I,myself do not suffer from skipping a day or two. When I do skip I'll wait till my legs return to their extreme pain (may or may not take 2 days)then I'll go back to taking them and I'll get that "I'ma little high feeling" but nothing to write home about. Just a better mood feeling. But no side effect from stopping ever other than my pain comes back.
I was on it for nerve pain to. Weirdest but positive side effect was it was unlocking long term HAPPY memories which I believe PTSD has been blocking for years. Then switched to Lyrica which isn't quite as easy to deal with. I get quite nauseous and giddy.

I am a recovering addict I chose after partial hysterectomy and instead of narcotics I had gabapentin I'm still in alot of pain at times but I ran out and was offered a few to get me through but I chose not to because of my addiction to many things and I also noticed yesterday that I have been getting really irritable after running out of them I believe it had an effect on me and my emotional state I am choosing to let God help me through this even in pain I don't know nor understand why I'm not healing as much which I did fall out of a hammock probably didn't make it any better anyhow I go see my doctor and I'm just going to take ibprophen I don't need to get hooked on something else
talk to your doctor, depending on your age sometimes they're perfect your mood, then talk to your god, then decide if you still wanna take them.

Nah this shit can get you high asf. I use drugs recreationally quite a bit and if you stagger the doses it'll get you high as fuck for hours. It's one of my drugs of choice

Its not highly addictive lol. I usually only feel dizzy/drowsy or off on it without much euphoria. Maybe music sounds a little better but its not that great. Is good for what its meant for tho

I'm given it for pain relief before I have a nerve block in my spine ,300mg 3 x a day,I've noticed that for pain you only get 2 hours pain relief then you have to wait 8 hrs before your second dose.im having a spinal nerve block in a couple of weeks.

I'm on gabapentin for anxiety but I has 0 possitive effect. I've tried 2000mg and even more and have found no abuse potential
I got ahold of a buttload of them and took 1200mg. It didn't do anything really. I got all hyped/scared for nothing.
I just got prescribed it for restless leg syndrome, bin taking it for 3 days , it doesn't seem to work , it does make my head dissy

I work in a transitional living setting and I have a client that is prescribed Gabapentin. He's to take it three times a day. He's calmed down now due to a talking-to, but not too long ago he would ask for his afternoon dose a couple hours after taking the morning dose. He would ask quite often but management set him aside to ask him why. In addition to his dose, he would also ask for an Aleve to go with it. Does anyone know if this combo is bad to take together, or been known to abuse together? Thank you for your time...

Having a quick look MJ was using strong sedatives. Prince was using that fentanyl stuff which (I believe) is an opioid that makes heroine tame in comparison.

If you take high amounts you will feel good and floaty, you will be able to socialize, you can smoke weed on it and feel 100x better and also get closed eye visuals, so its not that "crap"
