@@JeffreyKnuppelMD Gabapentin. It says in smaller print "generic neurotonin". I think it may have made me dizzy too a few times. I thought it was from working out though I was surprised to be dizzy. Now I wonder if it was the gabapentin.
I take Pregabalin 75mg for restless leg syndrome. It also worked to switch off a severe Anxiety attack that lasted weeks. With this attack brought on by a health crisis, my thinking got back to normal after a fortnight but my body was still having severe symptoms of sweating and uncontrolled shaking during the night. Pregabalin was very effective after just 2 or 3 daily doses. It clearly switched off the fight or flight response or whatever was happening in the amygdala. However, possibly due to CKD, i cannot take it more than once in 24hrs. When I did, I had the rare reaction of bradycardia with a pulse of 38 to 41 overnight. So i have to wait at least 30 hrs between doses. I find it to be very effective for anxiety and especially restless legs.
Thanks for sharing that. It’s such a frustrating situation when you find something that helps but causes side effects. Meds have their place, but your situation is a good example of why they should be prescribed cautiously as they’re not risk-free.
I would not have thought a medicine would have helped my generalized anxiety as much as gabapentin has. SSRIs, SNRIs, etc never did much for me. I was having, for lack of a medical term, a nervous breakdown over a year ago. I had to walk off my job and didn't know if I'd ever be back. I went on gabapentin (300mg twice a day or as needed) along with lamotrigine. Within a matter of days, I was much, much better. The nurse practitioner was very surprised how calm and relaxed I was less than a week later. I would almost say I don't have anxiety now (though there's mild bipolar II left). My brain used to be so noisy I couldn't follow a train of thought. The suicidal ideation I had daily for 30+ years is gone. I don't overthink things to the point of choice paralysis anymore. And my nighttime itching is gone. Of course my results aren't typical. For me, it's be life changing. I hope more research is done to see who it helps and who it doesn't work for.
Lamotrigine was life changing for me too, mood stabilizer wise, as SSRIs etx etc also didn't do anything for me. I'm on pregabalin 400 MG a day for arthritis and 1.5 MG Clonazepam for anxiety as needed. But Lamotrigine works on your GABA receptors so to me it makes sense why it calmed the storm so to speak in my head. Best of luck ❤
I found daily Pregabalin (300mg twice daily) to not be effective what so ever for my anxiety. However, when I took it on an as needed basis, it would give me a lot of relief (almost 100%) from anxiety, and even improved mood. I wish I understood why? Is it ever used on an as needed basis?
I can’t explain why pregabalin didn’t help your anxiety when taken regularly but did help on an as-needed basis. The fact that it helped quickly when taken as needed doesn’t really surprise me though since it usually works to some degree within a couple of hours. For anxiety, it’s still usually prescribed on an ongoing basis.
I tried 6 different SSRI’s, all of them gave me terrible reactions and made my anxiety so much worse. My psychiatrist prescribed gabapentin. Started at 300 mg a day. I noticed a slight difference within 3 days and I had NO bad reactions. None. I’m currently up to 1200mg a day after 3 months and I’m feeling great so far. It was supposed to help with insomnia but unfortunately it didn’t and I’m still working on that part. I’m very grateful so far.
I am diagnosed with Bipolar 1 and GAD aside from medical issues. Was commenced on nine or ten different antidepressants, none of which made any difference, some gave me side effects. I take Lithium and Quetipine and physical health meds. A Doctor prescribed me Pregabalin, which I found effective and had no side effects. After some years I heard it was actually "addictive", so I contacted my Psychiatrist, asking to reduce and discontinue. This taper was so bad, the withdrawals (physical symptoms) were shocking! I have been free of pregabalin about four months now, taking three new antihistamines and an extra antipsychotic! I am a slim woman anyway, when I lost a stone in weight due to nausea, asked for some nutritional drinks. I expected mental health symptoms. This was limited to anxiety and insomnia. By far the worst was the physical symptoms, relentless itching, pulse of 130 almost fainting, headaches, feeling sick, loss of appetite, diarrhea, general malaise. Nothing could have prepared me! Still symptomatic after four months. Thank you for your information. Pauline

Do you prefer Pregablin or Gabapentin Doctor?
I wouldn’t say that I prefer one over the other. Lots of factors would go into the decision about which one to prescribe, assuming one of the two was appropriate in a particular situation.
I prefer Pregab’s 👍🏻to Gab …for my anxiety/ low moods
Silexan ????
I'm sorry, I don't understand your question. The video wasn't about silexan.
@@JeffreyKnuppelMD Sorry! Can you make video about Silexan ???
I will consider your suggestion. Thank you.
Pregabalin is amazing for the first few weeks then it stops working and trying to get off it is horrific , suicidal thoughts fill your mind without any let up , my only choice was to go back on the drug
Thanks for sharing your experience. That sounds beyond frustrating.
You look a bit like Richard Burton
I'm on 300mg Pregabalin a day for about a month now, I'm looking to ask my doctor to increase it to 400mg.
Do you suffer from gad or any other condition related to anxiety?
@@stmrp8622 Yes I suffer from anxiety I'm on 400mg a day now
Have you been on them? Perhaps before you start telling us how great they are, they are horrible.
