    You must be very pleased. Looks great! The grass also is coming along and I can’t wait to see the next update. The dragons add to it I agree. Looks like the building has been there forever!

    Things are looking great. I love the dragons on the eaves and bed posts. If you want to give your chains and hinges a more authentic look, you can drop all the parts in acid for a few minutes to remove the zinc coating. That'll get you down to the steel. Rinse and towel them dry and toss them in a hot fire. It doesn't have to be super hot, but if you can get them to a dull cherry red that's more than hot enough. Fish them out of the fire and drop them into some vegetable oil. The oil will blacken the steel and also create a varnish-like film that will protect it from rusting.

      Hi Mike, thanks for your kind comments, I really like the idea of how to "distress" the chains and make them look more authentic, I am going to have a go at that! Best wishes, Anthony.

    Anthony, it’s looking fantastic! The grass is growing fast 😊 now you just need to design an authentic Viking Vertical LawnSlayer.

      @@vikinghamer I am right there with you. I am doing a whole bunch of my legwork before ramping up our new UA-cam series. Lot of planning, and it feels like I keep moving in the wrong direction. So I hear you about impatience.

      Got to keep plugging away, I am held back by my lack of editing skills so I can only do videos in one take, just work with what you have got and make it happen! All the very best!

    Regarding the end boards at the rear, turned over they would look like Ravens. You could still make them Ravens but they would be on their backs. I notice daylight between some of the boards at the back and the door, are you going to caulk the gaps and put a weather board around the door? I'm sure it will still be warm with the wood burning stove but filling the gaps would stop insects from having free access. The whole building looks really good.

      Hi Mik, brilliant comments, thank you. I like the raven idea maybe on the next project now! The door is still to get a rebate and caulking will be one of the last things to give the wood as much chance as possible to settle. I use waterproof window caulk in dark brown! Very best wishes, Anthony.

      @@vikinghamer One of the difficult things of making comments like mine is they might be a little forward. Then i realise you are all over what i've commented on and you are thinking far ahead and have all those issue covered. I really like these little projects and like i have said before i'd like to make a Viking house/hall but the sheer cost of materials puts me off but never say never. I might be able to do it in the future? I'm guessing the sheer cost of rolls of turf is what stopped you from using turf rolls to cover the house. It is a more immeadiate result than waiting for the grasses to grow and settle in?

    • @vikinghamer
      @vikinghamer  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mik, I really appreciate intelegent questions and ideas so keep them coming! The turf rolls do have a cost issue but I wanted much more weight and depth of soil that comes with turf also I have planted a greater diversity of grass and flowers than commercial turf can supply. I just have to be patient, haha. Best wishes.
