This homeowner is so darn adorable. The fact that she work on it without her husband and yet wanted him to open his eyes first during the reveal, is the sweetest.
It's quite a transformation and the homeowners seem thrilled. I can't understand, though, why there wasn't storage built into the book nook daybed. All that space under the platform is unused now and could have held a couple of drawers or at least opened up on hinges for holiday decorations or out of season clothing storage or whatever else needs to be tucked away. Seems like a missed opportunity in an otherwise great space.
Leigh Taylor Ellis I do agree with you completely however Monica can only plan and design 5 projects and maybe the other projects could be more Important than a bit of storage but I am not trying to argue it is just a suggestion 📚📖❤️
I'm sure it's also a cost balance -- the homeowners didn't indicate that storage is a problem for them, and wood adds up. Monica probably used all of their weekend budget in ways that address their current needs and wants. But it looks like they can easily go back and add drawers in the future :)
It was more than the cosy book nook. The sitting area, the desk, the extra bed curtains, paint colour, rugs, art pieces, book shelves all done in a very planned and pragmatic manner.
We have paneling like this through out our house, for our sons room which was also covered in it, we painted each "plank" sage green left the black line and then the next "plank" a blue gray. I love that it looks pin striped. It took a fair amount of work but I'm beyond thrilled with the final look of it. Ill be sad when he wants to change the theme of his room from nursery to "big boy" lol.
I have watched numerous UA-cam videos on how to make bookshelves with pipes and some how the way it has been explained in this video seemed easy....maybe I was not ready to be taught before. Thanks for sharing all the smart, easy design ideas.
rehpotsirhk04 ugh* YES! that would 😄been brilliant! The front could have been a little latch key door and they could have had roll out bins hidden behind the doors!!!!
This space is adorable but I don't like that the shelves go past where the paneling does for the nook. I also found it really silly to waist all that space beneath the nook? It could have easily been a great storage area.
I think this might be my favorite room so far! Two requests: can you link what sawhorses you used? I've had such a hard time finding good-looking wooden ones to use for a table. Also, is there any chance you could do an in depth break-down of that nook build? It looks like such a flawless built-in with the finished trim but it actually seemed pretty simple when you were putting it together. Think that would be a really versatile tutorial to have for reference. Thank you so much! Love this series!
Hey Jangle - these are the saw horses used: www.lowes.com/pd/BURRO-BRAND-21-in-Wood-Saw-Horse-1-000-lb-Weight-Capacity/3347070 The nook is simply 2x4s cut to size to build a sturdy frame, with plywood on top. To finish it off we attached a few pieces of wood trim. We'll see if we can get a more in-depth explanation put together...may be hard since the episode is already filmed.
This might be my favorite I've watched so far. I've picked up a lot of ideas, and have a lot more confidence trying projects on my own because of this series. Thank you!
The Weekender: I don't know how if happen to find this channel but I'm soo very glad to that I did. I'm soo glad to find a building learning channel that doesn't have cussing in it. BLESSINGS AND FAVOR UPON YOU.
I also think this is one of my favorites that you have done! The space looks completely new! A play on modern and industrial with a little rustic but feels very cozy! So envy those homeowners! Wish it were my space! You guys did awesome
I have always wondered how panels would lol if you painted them. This looks awesome. I wonder if my parents would consider painting their wall panels in the living room and hallway?
@@mapleleaf0 I have that paneling throughout my home and I'm painting a lot of it white with navy blue for a distressed look. It takes lots of courage and experimentation.
That is just an amazing transformation, it's hard to believe - and of all I've watched thus far, I'd consider this the most doable for someone with my (very) limited skills. Great job!
I've been looking forward to this episode since seeing the sneak peek. I have a similar situation with my 2nd floor and will incorporate many of these ideas there. Unless you'd like to help me, Monica.
This episode is really Coooool ! Maybe because of Christina's good mood, and... Your work :D Maybe Matty V can "introduce himself" in future season (or episode but i think all is allready filmed ?!). Tks !
Ok but thank you for this episode; one of the rooms in my parents house has wood panels and I told them to paint it white but they said it wouldn't look good. Now I can prove them wrong!
I kept expecting some pull out drawers or other type of storage under the window seat. Another missed opportunity to add storage. It would have been a great place to keep extra blankets, sheets, pillows, or just random things that need to be hidden away.
I don't get how some people nitpick and complain about small things in these transformations. The show's concept is what can be done in a weekend, and they pull off unbelievably clever transformations with different (yet doable) ideas every single time - in just 2 days! Yes, there could have been more storage with another day's work - but we could also just not be hoarders in every corner of the house and learn to breathe in our living spaces, too?
I can not tell where doing today you really give a ton of ideas 💡 that will help me in home I live in Jordan 🇯🇴 sense I watch the first video I can’t stop this like the ten episodes that I watched ! Keep going you amazing 😉
Gorgeous transformation Wish you were in my country to help turn my attic into a functional space - so want a beading room out of reach from the kitties. Great job love this channel 🏡💖
It is awesome but the bed nook is such wasted space. Easy fix though, on the top base board (that the mattress is on )put a couple of finger holes in it and hinges near the window side. Then you could take off the mattress and pull up the board to access stuff you hardly ever use. I also thought a lot of the metal bookshelf space was wasted. More pipe shelf fittings means more shelves top and bottom with more books and some baskets etc to store smaller stuff.
Love this. How did you get the slats/boards for the faux wall to stay in place. We have a half wall and I would love to recreate your idea in our home.
Lowe's PLEASE bring Monica and this show back!!!! It helped me so much, and she gave 5 projects that anyone can do!!! LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!
Yes pls
This homeowner is so darn adorable. The fact that she work on it without her husband and yet wanted him to open his eyes first during the reveal, is the sweetest.
This young woman & her helper, do fantastic work! I am a DIYer fir 40+years now, but I am inspired to new levels by Monica's designs & savvy! TY!!!
The home owner is so cute with her smile and reactions.

Totally agree but it is a lot for a weekend

Love how excited she was. Really shows how appreciative she was. 😊
I adore that book nook!
Budget Girl I think every booktuber would love this reading nook and bookshelf. Lol

Love this area but the books should be facing the other way so you can see what book it is.
Hi Budget Girl!! I love your channel. :)
This is definitely my favorite transformation of any episode I love it. Monica, you can just come decorate my entire house. 😍😍
Omg! Yesssss!! I agree!
Love the show as always Monica!
Mattie needs to feature on the show more! He seems great!
Matthew Vapniarek 😂

lol.
I love the bookshelves. The floor needs to be restored and then the room will be complete.
Could you please please please do an episode for renters/apartments. I would LOVE to get some tips and tricks for my space.
There is an episode about a renter in season 2. The one with the musician in Texas I believe. Lovely episode...epic builds!
This is my favorite episode of the weekender and I've seen all of them. I can't wait to recreate the industrial shelves for my husband's diy desk!
I have watched numerous UA-cam videos on how to make bookshelves with pipes and some how the way it has been explained in this video seemed easy....maybe I was not ready to be taught before.
Thanks for sharing all the smart, easy design ideas.
You and Matt are TRULY REMARKABLE....wonderful
lol matt needs more show time ... FO’ SHO’!!
RoboticMoon I was just thinking that - why isn't he also speaking and explaining?!
@@annajames1065 because he sucks
The wasted space under the nook could've been storage!
rehpotsirhk04 that’s what I’m saying as I’m watching the video 😂
rehpotsirhk04 ugh* YES! that would 😄been brilliant! The front could have been a little latch key door and they could have had roll out bins hidden behind the doors!!!!
It is easier to build without storage.
Her aim IS photogenic rooms (pin-worthy) so it makes sense to do what she did.. The home owners can always add storage boxes in that area
This space is adorable but I don't like that the shelves go past where the paneling does for the nook. I also found it really silly to waist all that space beneath the nook? It could have easily been a great storage area.

You know flawless means without flaw.....
In terms of design it looks great, but I'm seeing a lot of flaws in the finishing to be quite honoust, plus a bunch of missed storage oppurtunities.
Exactly my thought.
Definitely with you with all the lost space under the bed. Also why no shelves under the desks. Could have had a few planks under the legs.
Under the book shelf could be storage too
what does "honoust" mean?
It's a weekend project
This might be my favorite I've watched so far. I've picked up a lot of ideas, and have a lot more confidence trying projects on my own because of this series. Thank you!
I think this is my favorite makeover. Good ideas and excellent execution.
It turned out amazing! What a little paint one can do,and then you add ingenuity?. Beautiful!!!!
This transformation was amazing! The paneling had me so skeptical but I loved the outcome!
Wow! Super nice makeover and the book nook is to die for! Love the industrial pipe bookshelf system.
Like it when matty is around.😁
I love what you did to this attic. I am running to Lowe’s to transform my attic now that I know that I can do this.
Just rewatched this one. Maybe my favorite? Such a fantastic transformation.
That room turned out amazing & the reading nook & book shelf is a genius idea. I absolutely love it
I love this space, it’s such a smart way to use a variety of textures to achieve such a homely and modern space
This is my fave of Season 3 so far!! Love it!!!
Also first!

Contractor and designer at the same time. Incredible!
I also think this is one of my favorites that you have done! The space looks completely new! A play on modern and industrial with a little rustic but feels very cozy! So envy those homeowners! Wish it were my space! You guys did awesome
I love the owner's reaction.
I didn’t think was going to like this one, but it turnout to be one of my favorites! Totally impressed.
AHH!! You guys ROCK these episodes!
I have always wondered how panels would lol if you painted them. This looks awesome. I wonder if my parents would consider painting their wall panels in the living room and hallway?
Hey, did your parents take your suggestion and paint their living room and hallway paneling? -Curious UA-cam commenter 4 years later :)
@@mapleleaf0 Hello there. No, my parents are deciding to do something else. Maybe a renovation.
@@08fighter08 Ah, fair enough. All the best to you and them.
@@mapleleaf0 I have that paneling throughout my home and I'm painting a lot of it white with navy blue for a distressed look. It takes lots of courage and experimentation.
This is such a brilliant and beautiful space! That book nook is heaven!
Her reaction stuck to me that I wanna rewatching it again
I'm so excited that The Weekender is back for another season... love it!!!
That is just an amazing transformation, it's hard to believe - and of all I've watched thus far, I'd consider this the most doable for someone with my (very) limited skills. Great job!
My favorite weekender transformation so far!!!
I love the attic remodel for the 3 uses! I wish you could come here!
I love the weekender its like the topping on the cake for any diyer Monica is fantastic

This attic is so beautiful! Love the reading nook so much.
What a lovely couple. Great episode
love this episode too. I like the simple book shelves idea.
The book nook is fabulous. I absolutely ❤️ it! Great job!
I've been looking forward to this episode since seeing the sneak peek. I have a similar situation with my 2nd floor and will incorporate many of these ideas there. Unless you'd like to help me, Monica.
Wow, this is beautiful!!! Love what was done with the space.
Very clever ideas in this space. The book nook is the best cozy feeling area ❤️ it.
Love, love, love!!! This may be one of my absolute favorite transformations!!! It would check off all my must have's as well!!

This show is soooo good. Everyone involved in the making of this show has got it going on. Keep up the great work guys

definatly going to make the pipe booke shelves and the desks in my new bedroom, omg this is why i love this show
Great. This room is very much like my upstairs that I want to redo. Now I know what it will look like when it's done. Thanks!
Love the attic .before the work started. Loved all the wood.
I really LOVE ALL OF THIS. I want to move back to Philly just to see the saw horses. I use metal ones to support a DIY vanity.
From creepy room to wow room. Love the book shelves.
This may be one of my favorites! I’ve loved the transformation.
What a phenomenal transformation. Excellent series, I'm hooked.
Awesome space, the home owners are thrilled.
LOVE this and just how bright and spacious it looks!
LOOOOVE that book nook, always wanted one of my own! The whole room looks 👌
Awesome result. And I'm extremely jealous of that space....imagine having more room than you actually need...a book nook even! Must be nice ☺
This room is stunning!

Monica, this is wonderful, especially the book nook!
I love that reading nook and those book shelves💕💕💕
How did you join the partition wood to the framework?
A job well done ladies and quirky Matt!!!! Love you both
What a lucky homeowner she got 3 spaces out of 1room and each one turned out great!☺
I love the window seat. Would be a great reading nook!
Anyone 2019? Btw love the transformation!
I personally think THIS IS the best The Weekender has ever done. Kudos!
Gorgeous transformation
Wish you were in my country to help turn my attic into a functional space - so want a beading room out of reach from the kitties.
Great job love this channel 🏡💖
I super love the galvanized book shelves
Love these episodes. Please keep them coming
This is amazing! Well done!
The homeowner is lovely!
It's so beautiful...I cried at the end thinking...can I transform my condo the same design? Monica...can you come to Bohol?
What a great transformation! It really is beautiful.
Love the book shelves...you totally Rocked this

Not a jigsaw puzzle! Grown up Tinker Toys! Great project and space!
Love the half wall solution!
I absolutely love it!!! You guys are brilliant.
We had such brown panels, too. We had to paint it 3 times with very expensive paint untill it stayed white.
