We have paneling like this through out our house, for our sons room which was also covered in it, we painted each "plank" sage green left the black line and then the next "plank" a blue gray. I love that it looks pin striped. It took a fair amount of work but I'm beyond thrilled with the final look of it. Ill be sad when he wants to change the theme of his room from nursery to "big boy" lol.
rehpotsirhk04 ugh* YES! that would 😄been brilliant! The front could have been a little latch key door and they could have had roll out bins hidden behind the doors!!!!
The Weekender: I don't know how if happen to find this channel but I'm soo very glad to that I did. I'm soo glad to find a building learning channel that doesn't have cussing in it. BLESSINGS AND FAVOR UPON YOU.
I think this might be my favorite room so far! Two requests: can you link what sawhorses you used? I've had such a hard time finding good-looking wooden ones to use for a table. Also, is there any chance you could do an in depth break-down of that nook build? It looks like such a flawless built-in with the finished trim but it actually seemed pretty simple when you were putting it together. Think that would be a really versatile tutorial to have for reference. Thank you so much! Love this series!
Hey Jangle - these are the saw horses used: www.lowes.com/pd/BURRO-BRAND-21-in-Wood-Saw-Horse-1-000-lb-Weight-Capacity/3347070 The nook is simply 2x4s cut to size to build a sturdy frame, with plywood on top. To finish it off we attached a few pieces of wood trim. We'll see if we can get a more in-depth explanation put together...may be hard since the episode is already filmed.
Ok but thank you for this episode; one of the rooms in my parents house has wood panels and I told them to paint it white but they said it wouldn't look good. Now I can prove them wrong!
Love this. How did you get the slats/boards for the faux wall to stay in place. We have a half wall and I would love to recreate your idea in our home.
I kinda wish that more shelving was added. The structure of the shelves took a bit of space so it would've been nice if it weren't too far apart and added 1-2 shelves. The space beneath the day bed wouldve been nice for extra storage (for extra pillows, blankets, etc) but they did have little time so that's understandable, especially since they decided to put up a frame around the day bed. The his and hers office looked kinda boring and bland. I feel like they could've used a different wall color or maybe decorated it a bit more. A rug would've even made a great improvement. *forever bothered by the door on the wall, was it a door? I however love the middle part. It's cozy and colorful
Great transformation. Just one question - why are all the books stored with the spines on the inside? Is it an advertising no-no, or is that part of the design?
The space looks great! Any reason why the books are reversed? Is it a color matching thing? My books are organized by color.. not as practical as alphabetical or by author, but I think it looks a bit nicer! But reversed books tho...? Just curious why!
Lily T yYeah, it's weird. Maybe embarrassing titles?? Lol, can't imagine this to be the case...but I can't for my life come up with a different explanation.
Decorators do it. It's basically a color thing. They are pretty neutral or white. Sometimes they may just put on bookcovers that are white and write the titles in black. But that's a lot of work, this is a quick project. Personally, I think it totally defeats the purpose of having the books in the first place. You need to see the titles to choose a book. I would hate it. I'm a book lover. I don't use books to decorate with at all, as most decorators do.
I've seen this a lot in recent decorating shows/videos. One lady I saw said she did it so they would 'match' her farmhouse decor. I think it's a bit silly - I don't consider books to be decor, they are necessary objects. My bookshelves are filled with books, and I place decorative items in front of them. I wouldn't get all the same color clothing just so my closet would look more cohesive either!
i like all ur projects, except the Cat Guest Room. It will be interesting how the owners maintained their make-overs after a year maybe? How about an anniversary featuring all the weekenders?
Mary Therese McCool kez kezooie it was purposely done that way for a rustic unfinished look giving it personality and that way it wouldn’t look so stark white. It’s a major decorating tip nowadays.
Lowe's PLEASE bring Monica and this show back!!!! It helped me so much, and she gave 5 projects that anyone can do!!! LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!
Yes pls
This young woman & her helper, do fantastic work! I am a DIYer fir 40+years now, but I am inspired to new levels by Monica's designs & savvy! TY!!!
This attic is everything I dream about.

lol.
Could you please please please do an episode for renters/apartments. I would LOVE to get some tips and tricks for my space.
There is an episode about a renter in season 2. The one with the musician in Texas I believe. Lovely episode...epic builds!
This is my fave of Season 3 so far!! Love it!!!
Also first!
This transformation was amazing! The paneling had me so skeptical but I loved the outcome!
The wasted space under the nook could've been storage!
rehpotsirhk04 that’s what I’m saying as I’m watching the video 😂
rehpotsirhk04 ugh* YES! that would 😄been brilliant! The front could have been a little latch key door and they could have had roll out bins hidden behind the doors!!!!
It is easier to build without storage.
Her aim IS photogenic rooms (pin-worthy) so it makes sense to do what she did.. The home owners can always add storage boxes in that area
I love this space, it’s such a smart way to use a variety of textures to achieve such a homely and modern space
I didn’t think was going to like this one, but it turnout to be one of my favorites! Totally impressed.
I love the weekender its like the topping on the cake for any diyer Monica is fantastic
Thanks for your comment!
That room turned out amazing & the reading nook & book shelf is a genius idea. I absolutely love it
This is definitely my favorite transformation of any episode I love it. Monica, you can just come decorate my entire house. 😍😍
Omg! Yesssss!! I agree!
The Weekender: I don't know how if happen to find this channel but I'm soo very glad to that I did. I'm soo glad to find a building learning channel that doesn't have cussing in it. BLESSINGS AND FAVOR UPON YOU.
I super love the galvanized book shelves

You know flawless means without flaw.....
This show is soooo good. Everyone involved in the making of this show has got it going on. Keep up the great work guys
A job well done ladies and quirky Matt!!!! Love you both
From creepy room to wow room. Love the book shelves.
Ok but thank you for this episode; one of the rooms in my parents house has wood panels and I told them to paint it white but they said it wouldn't look good. Now I can prove them wrong!
LOVE this and just how bright and spacious it looks!
This will always be my favourite
Very clever ideas in this space. The book nook is the best cozy feeling area ❤️ it.
I loooove the reading nook!
In terms of design it looks great, but I'm seeing a lot of flaws in the finishing to be quite honoust, plus a bunch of missed storage oppurtunities.
Exactly my thought.
Definitely with you with all the lost space under the bed. Also why no shelves under the desks. Could have had a few planks under the legs.
Under the book shelf could be storage too
what does "honoust" mean?
It's a weekend project
Love, love, love!!! This may be one of my absolute favorite transformations!!! It would check off all my must have's as well!!
Great. This room is very much like my upstairs that I want to redo. Now I know what it will look like when it's done. Thanks!
Love this , great job monica & Matt....love the show.
Yes .... this is definitely ur best makeover so far !! It’s fantastic...

What a great transformation! It really is beautiful.
Awesome result. And I'm extremely jealous of that space....imagine having more room than you actually need...a book nook even! Must be nice ☺
Nice love your DIY projects. Admired your talent!
Season 5 please! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
the book arrangment... hmm, very interesting, the book nook is too lovely
I have been taking a shot every time someone in a UA-cam video says Texture. I feel delightfully woozy.
I love the book nook!!
This is your best project so far!
WOW, all I can say is wow!
Seriously, AMAZING design!!!!
Love this show!
How did you join the partition wood to the framework?
This is amazing. I felt the joy from Christina. lol.

the book nook is everything. I need dimensions
Galvanized pipes... yes please!!

Beautiful!
Second time watching this. I love it!
I love their wedding photo, too.
You just nailed it there!!!
Yey!! Marty’s back!!!
Not a jigsaw puzzle! Grown up Tinker Toys! Great project and space!
This was gorgeous!
The home owner seems like a fun lady. I never agree with the color choices until I see the results.
Well I finished to see the video and you guys did great !!!
Love your videos. I wish you can come to Chicago and help us too with some renovations
I liked the angled patern partly wall. However I feel the window need to be secured as see a risk of fall.
Love this. How did you get the slats/boards for the faux wall to stay in place. We have a half wall and I would love to recreate your idea in our home.
I love this project. If you ever want free accommodation in Queensland, Australian. Let me know!
Amazzzzzing transformation 😍😍
Another WINNER!
I just love it you killed it.... :)
Hermosa transformación!!!!!! Que buenas ideas para espacios en desuso. 💪👌👍
So good
Perfect! I like it...
You are amazing 🤗
If this was my home, WILL NEVER leave the attic 😊

Love my attic doesn't even have any sheetrock. All see is beams for roof and Hardy any way walk up there lol.
Oh my goodness! Nicely done!
Love the reading nook and mini library! But why didn't you put drawers beneath the daybed tho? There's so much storage there.
Love!!
Love this!!
There attic is bigger than my bedroom!!🤯
Wow! I wanna be there quest. I can see me reading a book while waiting for the dinner bell.
Love it 😊

Advertising rules. Would have needed permission from the writters and publishers otherwise.

The pipe shelving could be easily attached completely to the wall without legs on the floor and cleaning would be much easier.
i like all ur projects, except the Cat Guest Room. It will be interesting how the owners maintained their make-overs after a year maybe? How about an anniversary featuring all the weekenders?
I am going to dream of that book nook only to have nightmares of that painted paneling ruin it 😂
Love it everything everything😎
I think I find my favourite and best interior designer :))))
I'm surprised that the paneling wasn't finished better by painting between the cracks.
Mary Therese McCool kez kezooie it was purposely done that way for a rustic unfinished look giving it personality and that way it wouldn’t look so stark white.
It’s a major decorating tip nowadays.
I love this space but the way that the books were put on the shelves drives me crazy.... ergh.
Miley Kennison now you said it,😩😩
I agree!! why are they spine in??? Beautiful shelves, but the books bother me.
i think they were only put spine in for the camera so that no books/authors got free promo but idk for sure
rynadin yea, I'd reckon so
Me too. Any book lover would find that annoying, I think.
❤😮 Amazing
Very cool! I'm wondering why the book spines are pointing in?
