    OK, so you went full time and the content is still good, cleanly edited.
    Thanks for not just churning out a bunch of half-edited vids to meet quota. ;)
    Appreciate you keeping the integrity of the channel. o7

    The Hornet is a good ship to practice this offensive defensive posture transition. For me it just has very clear areas of advantage and disadvantage and teaches you to anticipate opportunity. Flying an arrow can make pilots too aggressive in some situations, as you say, against turreted heavies and snubs. In a Hornet, it becomes second nature to use your thrust to make the circle a size that favours your ship's turn rate.

    Always, never forget, if you're losing a fight and they don't have an interdictor, absolutely nothing is requiring you to stay there and die. You can leg it. You're not required to take on a losing fight if they bring more people than you can handle. It doesn't mean you can't _try_ and see how you do, of course, it is ultimately just a video game and there is zero reason to feel like you've got actual stakes on the line that can be lost by choosing to fight, or that require you to be cowardly and run from every fight, but if they didn't bring a Mantis and someone starts losing, they have zero reason to blame you when you just QT out.

    Awesome video you are pumping them out. I like the arrow defensive, fury offensive thought process. Was just sparing boxing with a taller friend. He has farther reach so was defensive and I had to work my butt off to get close inside to land hits, but once I got in then the pressure went from me to him. Until he created distance again defensively. Anyways reminded me of that! :)

      Side note: what’s the best way to find out wash ships weapon range? Is it better to learn what weapons they use and that’s the range for a quick break down or is it better to memorize each ships range? Maybe this could be made into a guide or spreadsheet idk

  • @Sattorin

    Great instructional video, as always! It's also worth noting that your "when to go offensive" also corresponds to your opponent's "when to go defensive". That is, if you see that your wingmen are shooting at your target, go offensive to try to keep them in the fight and maximize DPS. If the target loses its shields (and you still have yours) close the gap and maximize your hit rate for more hull damage before they can pull out.

    Thanks for these videos Avenger. Despite being a rather mediocre pilot the breakdowns in so much of your content has eally encouraged me to try out a lot of play I would have never touched before. Especially love the little bits you slot in as an aside "... so that means in this situation rolling left..." "... pitfalls, comon mistakes I see a lot of pilots make..." etc. Taking the time to learn even a little, to try practicing topics ingame, opened up so much and I'm finding combat a lot more fun than I had expected looking in. The channel seems a lot more polished than the early basic videos too, Cheers man!

    Goddamn, a new tactics theory video! I love this. Would love to see you develop and bring in something new and more to combat, like develop a strategy based on the usage of the same ship in a pair of group, or a combo of ships. I am curious what combos you can come up with

    4:56 Here you say you should be offensive in an Arrow vs. a Fury. Shouldn't it be the opposite there, as previously mentioned?

  • @Delta_N9ne.
    @Delta_N9ne. 6 місяців тому

    Love these videos. But question - When you talk about the default posture; Offensive vs Defensive. Do you see this changing in the new MM flight model where it gets reversed? Where smaller more nimble ships would need to be defensive against bigger tankier ships? Or do you think this logic will be the same even with lower combat speeds? I don't know enough to say for sure, but I'd imagine heavier fighters wanting to push their DPS and damage absorption advantage and try to keep lighter fighters from being able to disengage and reposition? Curious if you or anyone has any thoughts on this.

    Around 17th minute in a Glaive: First two guns are off because their 1400m/s projectile speed would mess up PIP for slower, 700m/s Size 5s?
    And is CPLD off in order to make cannon PIP less unpredictable and more control of delta?
    If that's so, does it make sense to try to use cannons for PvP again? Thinking of cannon based Hornet Ghost, appear, fire off cannons, vanish.

    Awesome content! I'd drop the opening vignette tho. It's a relic from broadcast television that serves no purpose in a 'tube besides wasting the viewers time. Considering the average view-time of a 'tube it's a really really bad idea to waste it on something meaningless like this.
