Absolutely game changer content. Great job Winters and Carbides!
Loving these advanced maneuvers. The visuals helped a ton. Thank you!
Thanks for the description. Glad to see more PVP pilots showing off their skills and perspectives.
Thank you very much for the new homework. Outstanding content, as always!
Also a big thank you to Carbides. Great and very helpful job!
Really cool video. The graphics really help clarify some of these concepts.
Very useful and detailed explanation for what I've seen on your demo with Space Tomato. Try to master this. Thanks again, Johnathan
Great stuff, Learning so much for you, Thank you for putting these together.
For a moment say you work for CIG, you have been tasked with making ship pvp much more accessible to new players and casual players, basically you must reduce their casualties from 100% against experienced pvp'ers to 80% . Their standard input is mouse and key board with only minor changes to assigned keys, you can change flight mechanics any way you see fit, you can add new content like training missions or target practice in Arena Commander (doesn't specifically have to be Arena Commander), you can change weapon functionality (increase or decreasing projectile travel times or changing fire rates or whatever you see fit). You may not alter the range pvp is supposed to be fought at e.g. rule of cool close range. What would you do?
I'd wait for the new flight model :)
@@JohnathanWinters I keep forgetting about that. Good answer though .
Well the question got kinda limited there, but I have one thought - CIG should add a search bar to the keybinds. DCS has that and it make it real easy to find less known bindings that may end up categorized poorly in a weird place.
Oh also if there were training modules, I’d make sure the instructor briefly touches on the fact that you can create different flight priorities for yourself and thus build different habits, simply from how you map your own controls. Just emphasize the importance of learning what your style might become and how to map accordingly
@@rubberdorky
Yeah man search function would be based and to clarify,
Doesn't matter what your style is, there are specific things that need to be mapped no matter how you feel about it.
I have a controls video dedicated to that.
I’m kinda late..
I would add missions that explain the pip to new players and I would make relative target speed much more readable, maybe with a line indicating speed or something.
12:06 is definitely me. Great tutorial vid, finally have an idea on how to practice these maneuvers.
Thank you very much for this. I'll try to get better since a while now and allthough I make little progress the content helps me a lot.
great portion of condensed flight knowledge ! very helpful
another great use of graphic instruments to exlain BEST tutorial ever
Loving the content JW, Carbides you sir are doing God's work.
Making sure to share this with my industrial eg members.
Very well explained
12:55 forward strafe circle is awesome.
Excellent, thanks!
Thank you good sir =]
Awesome video
Nice, this vid dope af
Amazing content, thank you! As a newcomer, I'm wondering, are any of these concepts applicable with lag pip?
All of them, just read differently. Instead of using the enemy ship as the measurement device, you use your crosshair.
Remember: Any input you do with strafes without using a some forward strafe will bring you away from your target. It's subtle, but it's there.
That depends entirely on your rotation relative to your target. If I'm rotated 90° clockwise to the target and strafe to the left, I'm moving directly toward them.
Obvious exaggeration as there's rarely a reason to intentionally have your nose that far off the target, but to illustrate the principle..
carbides makes cute animations
Hmm Im learning something new everyday :)
Awesome video. When do we use lag or lead pip?
Lead most of the time, Lag if I'm targeting something specific without sub targeting.
@JohnathanWinters I prefer lag pip personally, is the pip placement just the same but inverse, or is its placement calculated differently somehow??
I always fight with my cruise enabled feels like a plane then a space ship
Is there a way to use the lag pip to do these maneuvers?
Yes, but better to just have a toggle
Pip aligns to your crosshair instead of ship. Harder to follow but it works.
I’m confused on when you’re supposed to be shooting as you approach in a circle strafe. Your pip is rotating around your enemy, so how do you actually land shots?
Just put your crosshair on the pip.
@@JohnathanWinters And that doesn't interfere with the desired circle pattern the PIP is supposed to be going in? It doesn't neutralize the pip?
@@BoardGameClub No the PiP and the crosshair do not interact in lead pip.
I'm presuming that as your pip on the target behaves erratically, *their* pip on you is likewise behaving erratically. Is that correct?
Yes
Hello i would like to understand how to do same with Keyboard/Mouse since it's 0 to 100%
maneuver thing on strafe rotation etc. Also not realy free to move our character head to see the pimp like you do .
Decoupled flight, padlock view toggle in keybindings.
@@JohnathanWinters thanks trying to improve with that . Have you a keyboard mouse player to advice to have a comparison?
@@Tau37th Ako111, guys a god.
Thanks
well, does this even work ingame, seems like the server desync and the "random" input of an enemy will make this impossible to do !
Can you do this on a mouse and keyboard?
Yes
12:12 how do you know me?! :(
You are using a lead pip in these examples right?
Yes
I can't hit players because I suck at aiming. I'm just also good at dodging. ;)
Just a thought you may want to turn up your mic gain on these videos, your voice is very soft
First
Nice video, bad title :)
Yeah I agree, I changed it, was iffy on it.
It's strange to me that despite all that movement, your pip was often just stuck to the target. You're using some gnarly esp settings aren't you.. Or is the strange way the pip seems to act because you're using lead?
Such as.. 13:45 why the hell is the pip way over there near the target and it's just kinda hovering around it? Is it because you're using lead pip for this vid? Never seen this before, I use lag.
Yes, Lead pip is tied to enemy ship, lag is tied to your crosshair.
@@JohnathanWinters That is the single most concise and clear explanation of the difference between the two!
