I have ankles again in just 6 months. Cut my meds in half, lost 10 lbs, eat mega veggies raw and or cooked. Mix onions mushrooms garlic all stirfried in good oil in with my black rice, black beans red peppers black sesame seeds. All colorful and dark. If you don't eat meat with your vegetables it is good for kidneys. I'm not that bad off. Stage 3 54 went up to 80 and plan on getting up to 90 I hope by the summer. No Canola oil in my diet, actually they use to call it rape seed oil and changed the name because the women wouldn't buy it. I use advocado, olive, sesame seed oils, organic grass fed butter. I use celtic salt and an organic no salt seasoning from costco, everybody loves it in my sour cream veggie dip. Dip is so good with tons of garlic and fresh dill and my no salt seasoning. I cook everthing from scratch. My Dr, just called with my results of my blood work. He said everything was better with my numbers ~ kidneys, blood sugar, thyroid and cholesterol. He doesn't think it can be done with diet alone and I didn't tell him I cut my water and BP pills in half. God Bless you all!

Good question. While sodium can be harmful for patients with high blood pressure or CKD, the ER will sometimes put patients on a saline drip to help replace fluid in the body if the patient is dehydrated, vomiting, has very low blood pressure, etc. The amount of sodium in a saline drip is matched to the amount that is usually present in our body fluids. If they put a water-only drip in your veins it would "dilute" the blood and lead to shock. If a patient has kidney failure, is on dialysis, or has heart failure, they are usually put on a saline drip at a half concentration and the rate of the drip is decreased. These patients retain salt and water very easily so they have to be extra careful.

CANOLA OIL?????WHAT 😳 I went on a water fast for 15 days and my levels have changed. I was 47 , after the fast im at 50 so it can come up. Lots of water for me.
So I know what not to eat so what do I eat? Being told everyone is different and see a dietician may be good advise but not really helpful. The good thing is that protein is allowable!
I'm on a plant-based "no salt or very little salt" yet I still have some swelling of my ankles ? My Nephrologist ahs said "I am too far gone for any diet or medicine will help me"
Am stage 3, one kidney, no bladder, creatinen is high, need info on diet.maybe help lower, ....have been on low sodium & K for 6 years ...loosing weight.
What a bunch of bull crap!! The only thing that ppl with CKD is avoid the excess sugar and PROCESSED FOOD. Depending on the severity of CKD limit protein and potassium DO NOT limit salt. Salt is necessary in maintaining electrolytes in the body. If you love salty foods do not go beyond RDA. Most important of all is todrink a lot of water.
My nephologist said for me to not eat any salt. I'm a stage 4. About water sometimes I drink too much water and I feel that my kidney can't handle it all, so I'm careful.
I think animal fat n grass fed butter is more healthy than refined oils n fruit contains fructose too so eating only veg n fruits will cause more harm than benefit.
So I’m 28, born with one kidney, and am currently at ckd stage 4. Still trying to figure out my diet . I need to limit potassium and phosphorus. Any suggestions on meals?
Good information, but surprising that a doctor at this level starts almost every single phrase and sentence with “so”. Annoying. It no doubt affects how seriously she is taken in a variety of settings.
For the ppast year and onward I am whole food plant based or WFPB. No animal products or animal byproducts. My diet consists if 80% veg + some fruit, 20% complex carbs ranging from whole grains, brown, red, black wild rices, corn, legumes (beans & lentils) a lot of oats. Onions & garlic. I went from a gfr of 31 to a gfr of 90. All labs are in nirmal range.
I need to learn about kidney diet AND IBS diet AND high cholesterol diet AND lactose-intolerance diet AND gastritis diet. How can someone help me to find what I am allowed to eat? Is a kidney dietician my best option?
Yes, you should find a very good dietitian that's a lot of stadf to talk about, but don't worry if you find a good one he/her will help you know how to eat
All these statements... and they are based on WHAT? Show us the studies, charts graphs... references please. I get the idea she is nearly reading from some text book. I wouldn't follow this advice folks... "Some organizations" really? Which ones!
@lise that is not nutritional education. Nutrition information CKD is highly indivualized per a patient's lab work. Niw of course a nephrologist can read labs. But most are not renal dieticians. I fired my first nephrologist who said as regards food to only cut back on red meat and to take potassium supplements! I'm currently eating a whole foid plant based diet, no oils. I started out with a gfr of 31 at stage 3b. A year later I'm now at a gfr of 90 stage 1, still eating this way. Zero processed foods, even vegan. I have friends who are doctors, they have fought to get any education regarding nutrition. Few bother as most patients won't give up many things!
@@cherylshort5005 You must be skinny as a rail or you don't do any kind of strength training because there's no way you can get enough calories on a WFPB diet with no oils.
@@ayokay123 actually that's incorrect. My oatmeal is unlimited, only the other complex carbs, whole grains, legumes like beans lentils, split beas etc. Are limited to half cup per meal. With 2 cups of veg per meal. Now for strength training? Yoga * Thai Chi is recommended for kidney patients as well as walking. These are all low impact. Niw hard muscle burning is NOT recommended for kidney patients as it uncreased creatinine. Which not what we want. WFPB NO oil. People react metabolically to it, adding weight when needed or losing weight when needed and leveling off at a median weight when reached.

Is Himalayan salt can substitute table salts. I use Himalayan salt accordingly.
I went to the hospital two months ago with that egfr of 10. Today anew months later it's 74. Yes I am a type 2 diabetic.

What symptoms will a kidney friendly diet effect and is breathing difficulties one of them ?
If you are at stage 4 CKD ?
CANOLA OIL?????WHAT 😳
I went on a water fast for 15 days and my levels have changed. I was 47 , after the fast im at 50 so it can come up. Lots of water for me.
See your doctor egfr changes all the time. Read and research about egfr. Ask every question you can think of including protein in the urine.
Excellent presentation!!! And interesting issue!
So I know what not to eat so what do I eat? Being told everyone is different and see a dietician may be good advise but not really helpful. The good thing is that protein is allowable!
I'm on a plant-based "no salt or very little salt" yet I still have some swelling of my ankles ? My Nephrologist ahs said "I am too far gone for any diet or medicine will help me"
Don't give up. Gather informations and take control of your health.
Keto and intermittent fasting… check out Dr. Berg❣️
Depending on the severity of CKD limit protein and potassium
DO NOT limit salt.
I'm stage 3 I have good reading. Is eggplants good or bad I hear both way.
Only dr biswaroop ray Chudhury is best doctor in the whole world... 360 degree pastural medicine...
Thank you. (Ohio)
Thank you
I think animal fat n grass fed butter is more healthy than refined oils n fruit contains fructose too so eating only veg n fruits will cause more harm than benefit.
Is intermittent fasting good or bad when having one kidney... Or CKD??
For specific questions, we suggest reaching out to a doctor.
Nutrition facts aren’t always factual. If you see a label that says 0% trans fat you can be certain that it contains trans fats.
So I’m 28, born with one kidney, and am currently at ckd stage 4. Still trying to figure out my diet . I need to limit potassium and phosphorus. Any suggestions on meals?
We suggest reaching out to a doctor about this.
You need a dietian like yesterday and you need to ask why you never had one. See him
This is an outstanding video.
Do have any knowledge about bartters syndrome? My granddaughter has this 5 years old stage 3
I wan to let the general public know about this herbal doctor called Dr Onyeneke on UA-cam who cured me from kidney chronic disease
Food labels is a injustice to a group of ppl.

Excellent Presentation…Thanks
You're not Alone a song by Michael Jackson. A record I pretty understand and value.
...thank you.
Good information, but surprising that a doctor at this level starts almost every single phrase and sentence with “so”. Annoying. It no doubt affects how seriously she is taken in a variety of settings.
Thank you for this great information.
Thank you.
vegetables are good for you. Always eat small portion.
Thank you so much for this useful information. I have one question. What kind of salt substitutes is free of Potassium?
I wan to let the general public know about this herbal doctor called Dr Onyeneke on UA-cam who cured me from kidney chronic disease
S
What’s wrong with butter other than that it’s a fat?
Tell me what I can eat talk talk for an hour my doctor said eat beans I know you said don't eat I have very very high potassium I have stage 4 kidney
@@cherylshort5005 Cheryl what is your email?
@@cherylshort5005 Your grr of 31 was likely an anomaly. Nobody with borderline stage 4 ckd goes to 90 gfr unless it's a lab error.
@@ayokay123 those labs repeated at 3 differing labs, my endocrinologist. Then my primary an internal medicine specialist then my nephrologist
@@cherylshort5005 So you cured chronic kidney disease by diet? That's truly a miracle.
Hello: excellent video, but I expected a mention to Dr Walser Mckensie and his work with aminoacids. I would like to hear about it. Thank you a lot.
So wonderful and informative
I find potassium on many many labels on food which I read religiously…
We need potassium, it helps regulate sodium, they work together.
Mam you told that orange is full of phosphorus that ill lead to toxicity but why you recommend 1/2 cup of orange juice ??
She did not. That menu was composed by one of the Kidney organisations. She even apologised that it was high in sugar, I believe.
Didn't she say limit SODIUM. She did not say do not take iodized sea salt...
Presenter needs to learn speaking skills. Over 3000 "um". Very distracting.
Bananas are high in potassium. So how many bananas we can eat a day. I like banana in my oatmeal, instead of sugar.
I have stage three kidney disease!
Lot of blessings madam. Very very helpful .
👊👊
The problem here is if the person have both the liver and kidney disease what will the person eat
little annoying chuckle thru out video.
thumb down
All these statements... and they are based on WHAT? Show us the studies, charts graphs... references please.
I get the idea she is nearly reading from some text book.
I wouldn't follow this advice folks...
"Some organizations" really? Which ones!
The sugar and cereal industries.
If these problems with labels are known why not change it!!! Wrong on all levels
Chips is high in sodium & fat .
Treating kidney disease seemingly, is a minefield, what suits me may not suit you.good advice can be very frustrating.
Wtf is left to eat already????
Thank you
How well versed are you in nutritional education? I get you're a physician but thst does NOT make you an expert in kidney nutrtion!
People react metabolically to it, adding weight when needed or losing weight when needed and leveling off at a median weight when reached.

this is a bunch of BS.
