    I have ankles again in just 6 months. Cut my meds in half, lost 10 lbs, eat mega veggies raw and or cooked. Mix onions mushrooms garlic all stirfried in good oil in with my black rice, black beans red peppers black sesame seeds. All colorful and dark. If you don't eat meat with your vegetables it is good for kidneys. I'm not that bad off. Stage 3 54 went up to 80 and plan on getting up to 90 I hope by the summer. No Canola oil in my diet, actually they use to call it rape seed oil and changed the name because the women wouldn't buy it. I use advocado, olive, sesame seed oils, organic grass fed butter. I use celtic salt and an organic no salt seasoning from costco, everybody loves it in my sour cream veggie dip. Dip is so good with tons of garlic and fresh dill and my no salt seasoning. I cook everthing from scratch. My Dr, just called with my results of my blood work. He said everything was better with my numbers ~ kidneys, blood sugar, thyroid and cholesterol. He doesn't think it can be done with diet alone and I didn't tell him I cut my water and BP pills in half. God Bless you all!

      No information is given at all until your kidneys are failing & you still have to do your own research because the only info provided at that stage is what form of dialysis do you want to have. Smh.. It's hard to find doctors that truly care about the well being of their patients & are not so passive

    This is the best and most helpful, thorough video I have seen on this very complicated and miserable disease. I recently found out I have borderline high potassium and the alarm went off with my primary doctor. I am an 86 year old female, have Stage 3b kidney disease, also have chronic heart failure, high blood and cholesterol, plus Hashimoto's thyroid disease and struggling so much with diet and this video gave me some wonderful information. I am luckily not diabetic yet although it runs rampant in my family. I also am not overweight, I weigh 112 pounds at 5'2" but with this harsh limited diet, I fear I am going to get too thin. I stay hungry all the time, nothing satisfies my cravings, I seem to be living on eggs, cauliflower, salmon, bell peppers, onions, blueberries and white rice. Thank you so much for this wonderful and informative video.

    Nutrition for kidney disease patients is a fast evolving field. For example, it's a recent find that plant based phosphorus is almost not absorbed by the body, making foods such as nuts and whole grain available again for people with kidney disease.
    Some researchers are even doubting the link between potassium in the diet and serum potassium.
    I really invite every kidney disease sufferer to find the time to know more about nutrition.
    It's really important, I talk mostly about this in my channel.

      Get low Carbs diet from vege only. Adequet protein and fat..
      take Potassium Citrate to balance the blood ph from protein which will protec kidney stone and blpod vessel damage... drink plenty of water.

    Sugar and carbs are way more problematic for kidney and most other diseases than sodium. Plus a keto diet is a good idea for people with kidney disease and people on that diet need to make sure they get adequate sodium. It's the added sugars and carbs that are the problem.

I was so screwed I couldn't sit or stay still to feed myself. I ate bags of cookies and garbage and went from size 9 to size 4. It cost me mega for new cloths. It finally stopped and I normalized. I'm about 163lbs and fairly active (strength train and cardio multiple times a week). My kidney issues come from me having Lupus and my lupus is under control (no activity). So really talk w your doctors about this stuff bc certain advices may not apply to you and you may stress yourself for nothing.

There is also no mentioning of PRAL (potential renal acid load) in this presentation. If you have CKD, stay away from meat and dairy and start learning how interpret your blood tests. Look up Lee Hull’s book on CKD.

      Good question!!!

    • @katrinaa.6658
      @katrinaa.6658 3 роки тому +3

      Good question. While sodium can be harmful for patients with high blood pressure or CKD, the ER will sometimes put patients on a saline drip to help replace fluid in the body if the patient is dehydrated, vomiting, has very low blood pressure, etc. The amount of sodium in a saline drip is matched to the amount that is usually present in our body fluids. If they put a water-only drip in your veins it would "dilute" the blood and lead to shock.
      If a patient has kidney failure, is on dialysis, or has heart failure, they are usually put on a saline drip at a half concentration and the rate of the drip is decreased. These patients retain salt and water very easily so they have to be extra careful.

I use a cubic inch or two to enhance the taste. One of my three daily meals is my "all you can eat" salad - half a lettuce leaf, cubic inch cuke,2 each of cranberry, blueberry, cherry, table spoon of chopped cabbage,beats,olives,sliced red radish etc. One sardine or large shrimp or egg, slice of whole grain bread.frozen sliced veggies like okra and karela are precooked and convenient. What a bunch of bull crap!! The only thing that ppl with CKD is avoid the excess sugar and PROCESSED FOOD. Depending on the severity of CKD limit protein and potassium
    DO NOT limit salt. Salt is necessary in maintaining electrolytes in the body. If you love salty foods do not go beyond RDA. Most important of all is todrink a lot of water.

    • @cherylshort5005
      @cherylshort5005 3 роки тому +9

      @lise that is not nutritional education. Nutrition information CKD is highly indivualized per a patient's lab work. Niw of course a nephrologist can read labs. But most are not renal dieticians. I fired my first nephrologist who said as regards food to only cut back on red meat and to take potassium supplements! I'm currently eating a whole foid plant based diet, no oils. I started out with a gfr of 31 at stage 3b. A year later I'm now at a gfr of 90 stage 1, still eating this way. Zero processed foods, even vegan. I have friends who are doctors, they have fought to get any education regarding nutrition. Few bother as most patients won't give up many things!

      @@ayokay123 actually that's incorrect. My oatmeal is unlimited, only the other complex carbs, whole grains, legumes like beans lentils, split beas etc. Are limited to half cup per meal. With 2 cups of veg per meal. Now for strength training? Yoga * Thai Chi is recommended for kidney patients as well as walking. These are all low impact. Niw hard muscle burning is NOT recommended for kidney patients as it uncreased creatinine. Which not what we want. WFPB NO oil. People react metabolically to it, adding weight when needed or losing weight when needed and leveling off at a median weight when reached.
