Voices of Change: Delphine Cherry

After the unimaginable loss of her two children to gun violence, Delphine Cherry has emerged as a powerful advocate to end gun violence. She bravely shares her journey through this video, shedding light on the lasting impact of trauma and the importance of mental health support for survivors.
Her story serves as a reminder of the urgent need to prioritize the well-being of those affected by gun violence to help them navigate their healing journey, and the ongoing efforts to stop gun violence not just in our Illinois communities, but across the nation.
Delphine, a board member of One Aim Illinois, is the co-founder of the Tender Youth Foundation, which was started following the murder of her son. She and her daughter mentor youth and adults in the community to help them heal through the trauma caused by gun violence. Because Delphine has found that journaling has helped her throughout her healing journey following the murders of her two children, she gives away journals to those who have also been impacted to help manage their everyday emotions.
