I ❤❤ my hometown, the scenery is beautiful, the sites are beautiful, downtown has really grown as well over the past 2 decades, 20 years a lot has changed. It's great to see it getting more exposure and more people visiting it. I've been here a majority of my life and i enjoy it.
I'm from California I'm 18 and I've been interested in moving there for The past year because I want to move to a town of similar population but have more nature around it, so I think with a few years of saving and maybe a bust or 2 I may do it!
The area is really great. Tons of scenic beauty. Just don't live within the city limits. Roanoke County or Botetourt County are the better places to live.
Born and raised in Roanoke City. So many changes it seems. Would like to see more videos like this. Used to live on Oakwood Drive SW and wonder what it looks like now. Thanks for sharing this.
It's flat in population growth simply because it's very limited on career paths...unless you're in medical field. If you live in a big city from a much larger State and transfer here you're going to be taking a pay reduction. There isn't much to do here and the transportation system is none existent...No overnight service no bus after 9 pm Roanoke closes at 10pm.....no night life!
Moved out of Roanoke in 95 and was one the smartest things I've done in my life. Has went down hill dramatically since then. Tent cities all over the place along with tweakers on just about every corner. Sad to see it come to that, but it was starting down that path back in the day.
Thank you for this video through Roanoke. I just love the view from the Mill Mountain. But what is that for a sound while driving? It sounds weird and sometimes not like the engine sound of the car. Sometimes it doesn't match. But don't worry! Another good thing about your video is, that it's up to date.
Ha, the sound of a Ford Powerstroke 6.0 diesel! The camera is mounted outside and the loud engine is muted. You also hear turbo sounds and engines from vehicles following close behind.
Beautiful! Please post one called "Let's see and HEAR Roanoke" without the carbon belching diesel pickup truck. People there are probably still gasping for air after this one. I didn't notice another vehicle like this on the road. Maybe you can borrow someone's normal sized- quiet, more environmentally friendly car? That said, thanks for the nice reminiscences.
Beautiful downtown Roanoke. Please walk downtown anytime and you won’t believe your eyes between the bums and homeless everywhere begging for cigs money whatever they can get to all the trash and nasty folks everywhere. See for yourself don’t believe it until you see it

Lived in roanoke 25 years ago, loved the area and salem, prettiest place ever lived
Very classy looking city.
I Visit Roanoke in 2007, nice City with good People!
Downtown Roanoke is beautiful. I love it.
Just a ride or a walk downtown can brighten the shittiest of days.
I like how narrow the streets are. Gives it a small town feel.
Drove right by the house I grew up in. Spent many a summer on Mill Mountain.
I'm a writer who is going to write a story partially based in Roanoke and I've never been. This video really helped. Thanks!
I made my first visit here this weekend, it was awesome :). great video!
Nice video. Like how you showed the route.
Thanks for this! I’m thinking about visiting!
Scenery was pretty. Enjoyed the tour

don't do it , its trash
If you do, don't keep voting for Democrats. They are killing this city. About to be Chicago 2.0

@@doodefunk1 Bedford County borders both Lynchburg and Roanoke. The taxes are far less than either of the others especially Vinton.
If your liberal please and I'll repeat, please dont come just move to another liberal city or something...PLEASE!
Beautiful City.. Roanoke, Va.
Really nice video of my hometown at sunset!
Nice. Reminds me a little of Des Moines, IA. :)
Bent Mountain Rd is the best drive in the Roanoke area. Take it all the way to Floyd. Cool little town.

I miss living there
I do, too! Really want to go back!
I lived here for 2 years of my life.
Hard to believe this place has had such a flat population growth for decades. The place looks a lot better than most of the areas in Tidewater.

My paternal grandfather and cousin lived in Roanoke, but I have never been there.
Beautiful town
You know what the main part of Roanoke? FAMOUS Elevators!! & The ElevaTOURS Museum!!
Nice video! What camera do you use? Cheers!
Just beautiful!
Scary. Its a ghost town. Where the hell is everyone. No one but zombies on the street
Que bello lugar me gustaria conocerlo algun dia
Heyyyyy I know this place .......!!!!!
Is that a bike lane going up the mountain

Good tour but not once did you go on williamson road. I know because I live here.
I just came back from Roanoke and we stayed at the new holiday inn on Williamson road. 🙂 nice and convenient area. My kids had so much fun .

Hey, I live there!
How is it like living there? I'm living in NOVA and am trying to get a feel for the place. Any comments are appreciated! :)
I like downtown but many places are permanently closed during pandemic ☹ parking are super easy unlike DC area.
Did you guys know that I live there
From there
I'm from california and I so desperately want to move to roanoke
Wy and where do you live in Roanok?

@@kingdomseekers1973 if you like hiking or anything outdoors, yes. Every city has its problems but these areas are easy to avoid in roanoke.
Hey walt, the bums are holding signs begging for money on every intersection in Roanoke. Not Salem or vinton.
@@jayedwards4863the beggars are in every city. You'll see a lot here in northern VA too!!

I’m from Roanoke and it has changed so much. Not for the good. You pick and chose the areas you want to show.

Beautiful city very well maintained , the bad thing i think virginia is a liberal bastion would be nice if it was conservative
That's what we need in Roanoke Virginia is more conservatives.

The people there are pretty conservative.. about 60% unlike northern VA 🙄
