True, though you can say the same thing about a lot of old greats. There’s nobody else like Pink Floyd, or Led Zeppelin, or Rammstein for that matter. There are genre defining bands that just stand out on a different level. And Pink Floyd is certainly one of them.
Agree.. ore nothing like “ Dead can dance” and “ Coil”. What’s good about them, they trying to do they’re own thing and not copy the music style based on the previous album. Music becomes deep.
The lo-fi intro (where the lows and highs are cut out) is like an old radio reminding us of yesteryear; our old friends, loves, and relatives that we love and miss.
@@BisscuteReacts Try their Cirrus Minor from album More. And if you are interested you may watch the same title, as the album, movie from ‘68. In that movie is used the early Pink Floyd.
I would point out "Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for the lead role in a cage?" as fairly heavy as well. Song is, I think we can agree, full of fairly meaningful ideas.
It is a fine song, both sad and hopeful, and the awareness of a given situation is right there in the lyrics. And that line, “How I wish, how I wish you were here”, has a strong, underlying feeling of loneliness rooted in missing someone very close and very special
The very lyric you mention, @Bisscute... the fish bowl line, this was my fathers fave line of this song. This song helped him get through his divorce with my mom. They fought a lot so it was shocking when a few weeks before their 20th anniversary she handed him divorce papers and moved out. "Were just two lost souls, swimming in a fish bowl... year after year. Running over the same old ground, that's how we found, the same old fears... wish you were here." They fought a lot but there was nothing he wouldn't do for her when it came down to it. She was his everything, when those same old fears would rear their heads, he n she would get through it together... now he is all alone. This song helped him deal with his pain. Behind me hangs the framed poster of the artwork that's on the screen for this video. That poster belonged to my dad, he passed 12 years ago. This song always reminds me of him.
Not 100% sure.. Thought i recall an interview with David basically saying the same kinda thing. Relationship wise. Both there physically but the love was gone. "Lost souls in a fish bowl." Wish you were here - emotionally, not so much physically. People think the song is about Sid, but not originally.. i guess later they tie him to this song.
SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND is also on this album. I think it has 9 parts, 5 at the beginning of the album and the rest at the end of the album. It's an incredible work of art and is also about former bandmate Syd Barrett. If you're looking for another awesome ride like this, play the whole thing. It's much longer and will satisfy your soul. ✌🏼
Amen! I totally agree with that. I think it's the best song Pink Floyd ever recorded. Listen to it in the original studio version (it's a bit longer than they play it in concert) - it's worth it and will shoot you into another dimension...
There is "Music" and there is "Pink Floyd". They brings you somewhere out of your body! Pink Floyd made me fly for the last 55 years and I've been bless for that!
Written about the band's old founding member, Syd Barret, whom they'd lost to mental illness years before. "Wish You Were Here". The band hadn't seen him in years. As they worked on this song in the studio, Syd wandered into the studio off the street and without saying a word just sat down on the floor while they recorded.
I have always loved Pink Floyd and so many people do reactions to them; but I never understand how every one of them forget the song "High Hopes"' which in my opinion is probably the most poetic of all of their vast number of great songs.
It's a constant theme in Pink Floyd's work: people living with cramped souls, "in quiet desperation" because they don't or can't seize life's true potential. Limping through life trying to avoid pain and loss turns out to result in the worst pain and loss of a life not really lived. I think for these guys, this was the true nature of the blues as they experienced it growing up English. This theme is all over their lyrics. And it is deeply emotional. Who doesn't fear that they are leaving their best lives out there undiscovered because they are too scared to go out and live them?
My dad took me to see Pink Floyd in Dortmund when I was around 9 or 10 years old. Their show and the lighting blew me away and is, to this day, the best I've ever seen. More of Pink Floyd, please
Pink Floyd needs to be listened to Start to Finish on an album to truly be appreciated. Each song builds onto the next and each album has it's own meaning.
This song can easily transcend into any of our lives as many do. As I understand Wish You Were Here along with Shine on You Crazy Diamond were written for or with Syd Barrett in mind. The original frontman of Pink Floyd, a truly gifted man, arguably the most gifted and inspirational of Pink Floyd, who sadly went into a downward spiral due to mental illness. The song I think laments the loss of their friend and times they once knew.
Just came across your channel, and what a pleasure it is to hear your interpretation of what I consider Pink Floyd’s best album, Wish You Were Here is an emotional happy/sad song, full of such depth. Your reactions were so real and vivid, plus I love the way you speak like a cat purring.
Your thoughts and comments on the lyrics of this song and the songwriter's (a man) ability to express inner feelings and vulnerability in the song, which as you said men are not often able to do, is very insightful, and together with your facial expressions and emotions says it all - your reactions are amazing.
Bissute, how the song touches your heart, your soul, your head is the right interpretation. There's no right or wrong way to feel this art. That it connects, that it moves you is what matters. Luv your channel.
The lyrics and the music of Pink Floyd intertwines and makes up emotional and mental drawings of the same class as paintings of Monet and Dali. The combined geniuses of the architect Waters and the artist/magician Gilmour, flanked by Mason and Wright, is just unparalleled and their tracks are timeless and will never rust.
Imagine being in a stadium with 70,000 fans all singing along in PERFECT unison! I get chills every time I hear it and remember the concerts I got to see them live.
@Bisscute Enjoying going thru your reactions to the songs of my youth. Would love to hear Pink Floyd's One of my Turns. Preferably the original album version.
Thank you for such a beautiful and true reaction. Your willingness to share your feelings matches that of these great artists. I hope you can song on stage someday, you have the gift for it.
I heard this song when I was 6, and even as a 6 year old this song made me cry. now I couldn't tell you why that was... but the older I got the more profound the meaning became. thank you for the reaction
Back in high school, when this album came out, I worked part time on a woman's clothing store after school. The assistant manager was cool and behind the sales desk was a cabinet with a turntable in it. The store got albums from the record store in the mall. Working in the stockroom we could hear what was playing. Meg always had great tunes playing, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, the Stones, the Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive and all the great rock groups of that time period.
It seems a lot of their songs deal with the human condition. The nail it every time, the feelings and emotions Pink Floyd bring out, they're simply the best.
Pink floyd and this song is what brought me and My best friend of 20 years together. So it's not always a negative. When I hear and listen to this I remember all the great times we had just cruising around in my old pick up truck, mudding, hunting, fishing, chasing women, being my best man in my wedding, being there during my divorce, being the God father to my kids. Helping bury and grieve my losses of family and friends. I consider him my brother and would take a bullet for that friend and to think this song and is what united us to begin with so many years ago. So when I hear it I can only smile and remember those days. The good ole days as us old people like to say. Hope you get to experience this with someone in your life biss. As always, Much love, Vile
Pink Floyd is amazing, incredible, talented, at times joyous!! I also would like to say they are innovative, provocative, and suffisticative!! I hope Bisscute can realize that listening to all 15 albums would overwhelm your channel, yet find the time throughout your life to eventually hear all 15 albums!!
Pink Floyd come from Cambridge UK. I used to see Syd Barrett riding around Cambridge on his bicycle. They influenced alot of todays bands with their music. One of my favourite bands i grew up listening to in the 70s and 80s
I absolutely love this song! I Loved your Reaction! feels like I'm hearing this song for the first time again! Pink Floyd has such beautiful songs! such as "Time" and "Dogs"
Pink Floyd was a very experimental band. The "original" band leader was Syd Barrett, a talented guitarist who was inspired to make psychedelic music that was unique to them. From their earliest albums they were playing around with mixing traditional instruments with environmental noise and "found sounds." That was something they kept doing all the way through their entire career (you can hear that at the beginning of this song as the sound of dialogue from a TV show or film is in the background, and then the static sound of music played on a radio begins before the clean acoustic guitar joins in). Unfortunately, Syd Barrett got addicted to some strong chemical psychedelic drugs, and it literally caused brain damage to the point that he was unable to function or continue with the band. David Gilmour was brought in to play guitar, and he is featured on almost all of their more famous albums that appeared after 1968 or so. I believe this particular song is one of many in the Pink Floyd catalog that is a kind of "love letter" from the band to Syd Barrett. All of the band members (including David Gilmour) recognized that without Syd there never would have been a Pink Floyd, and even if he didn't play or appear on the albums, his presence was always a sort of spiritual touchstone for the band. If you listen to every album starting with 1973's Dark Side of the Moon, there are almost always one or more songs on each one that seem like they call back to Syd as though the band is saying a musical, "we miss you, friend," to their former bandmate.
Once again, your perspective has really made me absorb this song differently. I like your description of the sadness and joy combined. I have always appreciated Pink Floyd, but I find it hard to listen to them sometimes because I get overwhelmed and lost in the emotion of their music. I do like what you have said here, excellent reaction! Thanks
I adore your reactions so much, I really believe that if you watch Echoes by Pink Floyd from Pompeii you will be in tears. 4 men and their instruments in a ruined building. The talent. The atmosphere. The sheer genius is so moving. Enjoy your journey x
Echoes at Pompeii like he said is live in their younger days is almost as perfect as compfortably numb. Few lyrics mostly music. Bring you to your knees in another vibes world
This is the music that I grew up to, my parents were HUGE Pink Floyd fans, and I am too now as well! They are my favorite classic rock band, Pantera being my favorite metal band. The intro to this was supposed to be in one ear... they did that hard panning to give it that far off and emotional feel! Such a great band and they are amazing story tellers!
this song makes me cry a lot because it reminds me of the person who is no longer in life here with me who was my friend, my companion, my girlfriend and fiancee and every time I hear this song by Pink Floyd it makes me feel sorry for her all the time all
I agree with everything you said at the end of this video. I've been listening to this son and album since it came out 47 years ago and each year passing it gets more and more powerful emotionally. Although it was written as a tribute to their ex band mate Syd Barrett, it can also be about all of us, and the more we grow older and people come and go in our lives this song becomes part of our own history and memories.
This is about one of the founders of the band, Sid Barrett, who in the days of experimentation became the victim of too much LSD and lost his metal capacity. He could no longer perform and his personality changed radically, but the boys always took care of him, even though he could no longer perform but they "wished he could be here" as the band evolved.
Not again this bullshit. The song is not about Syd! Waters stated several times what it is about. I don’t know em where you people get this nonsense all the time. It is not true!
This is about the loss of cherished original band member Syd Barrett, how it feels to be in the Public eye, and much more. 'Living in a Goldfish Bowl' is an English phrase meaning that you're on show, like an exhibit, with nothing to protect you from a stranger's gaze.
Just discovered your channel and I'm loving your reactions. If you get the chance one day you should react to Pink Floyd's "Time". I was around when it first came and and trust me when I say, the song hits you differently as you journey through life. Cheers.
I was three when this record came out. My dad used to play it quite regularly back then - really reminds me of those times. Such a poignant, soulful piece of music. My dad passed away a few years ago but this song/album takes me right back to those early days of my life when he was (perhaps unwittingly) cultivating an appreciation of good music. Still brings a tear to my eye.
Beautiful song Bisscute! Pink Floid need time to understand everything they want to transmit. Their songs go very deep in our hearts and minds...Another great choosed song. Thanks Bisscute for make us enjoy your music reactions. Gongrats from Spain.
Love your comment, "Too beautiful and too short", it's an amazing song. That comment is exactly what it's like reminiscing about the good times with someone you've lost that you've loved so much. You just can't help but wish you had more of the good times together. And on that note another great song of Pink Floyd's is Time from Darkside of the moon. You should also check out what is one of their most well known songs Money from the same album. The album Dark side of the moon remained on the Billboard top 200 albums chart for over 736 consecutive weeks. That is the timeframe from March 17th 1973 to July 16th 1988. And has as of March 2022 spent a staggering 962 weeks(it's probably more now) on the billboard chart and sold over 45 million copies. You might consider listening to some of their albums in their entirety since so many of the songs transition into each other beautifully and are intended to be listened to as a larger piece of art. Keep it up, you're awesome.
Sorry to hear you’re going through a rough time. Sometimes music about others going through it, like this one is, end up helping more than the feel-good prescription songs we think we need. Something about how we’re all made up of patches and tears too, maybe.
Hi, young lady! You bring hope to me, knowing young generation is not all screwed up, quite rare to see younger people apreciate good old, true music. And your reactions are unpretentious and honest. Thank you! BTW, I love your accent! Those ringing 'r's and soft 'ch's and 'sh's.... Love it! Eastern European?
Favourite word in a Pink Floyd song... "willowing" (bending twisting and turning without breaking) "The Echoe of a distant time comes willowing across the sand and everything is green and submarine" Can't think of a more poetic way to describe the passage of deep time before life left the ocean.
i think this song is about leave behind who you are to fit on some standards. the problem being that no matter how much you try to escape from yourself you just can't go so far before realizing that you just find the same old problems that you were trying to run from. to me, it's not about two people that wish that the other was there. instead, he is sing it to that part of himself that went away... it's such an amazing song... i love PF so much.
Roger Waters is a great lyricist and songwriter and David Gilmour has one of the warmest voices in rock. When they worked together, along with Richard Wright and Nick Mason, they truly worked miracles.
When played live the early guitar track at the start is provided by a boogie box (tape deck) playing on the stage, hence the soft weak sounding notes. Then Dave comes in with the real chords - stunning, stunning tune. Welcome to Floydville, enjoy the ride!
Pink Floyd are no doubt the band to go to for depth and inspiration. Pink Floyd's The Wall I've watched numerous of times and always astounded by how much raw emotions was well placed in the creation of their soundtrack and film. Just when you thought there was all you could ever possibly learn for as many times previously watched is when you discover there's yet more to learn. Their shear talent for layering insight is truly amazing. I'm fortunate enough to have listened to them in concert. Their music is a message for all of humanity to listen with care. They've been and always will be personally at the top of my heart's list to mind where ever I go
Vision vary wise. For a young person. Pink Floyd has been with a lot of deep thinkers. Especially on dark side of the moon. That album was number one for I don't know how long. They sound great on headphones. They do create a lot of emotions. With all the mixing of their sounds
I love how you feel the music inside you as you react to these classic songs. It's funny that when I was young I think Pink Floyd were coming to the end of their period of being one of the biggest bands in the world, and I've never heard this song before. I know some of their other songs, but this is a cool song, a cool vibe with so much thought and artistic talent in it. We need more artistic talent in music, it's something that seems to have been lost these days, maybe stifled more than lost.
I think this record is actually thier best work. It's so complete when listened to all at once, autobiographical to the band but also broadly about the suffering that is a typical humans existance. Also your smile is mezmerizing. The problem is not you smiling , it's people that don't understand how to appreciate art.
Pink Floyd doesn't just play songs they give you experiences. Almost every song will surprise you in one way or another because either something strange will happen at the beginning of the song, somewhere else in the song or you'll note that the next song you hear sounds completely different than the previous one! But the one thing you will notice is nobody sounds like them and they sound like nobody else because they are their own genre! And if you thought that song was too short try a song from the Same album called "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"! It has a long buildup to more brilliant lyrics and the long buildup is worth the wait!!
The beginning of this song is a guy listening to the radio and coming upon this guitar riff. You can hear him cough etc. he then starts to play along with the radio.
If you want to see the guys "back in the day" playing live in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics and a Dave Gilmour with No Shirt then check out Pink Floyd - "Echoes" (Part 1) live at Pompeii 1972 This version is better as a reaction piece as its cut into 2 parts with a reduced "sound scape" section in the middle. The original track is the entire Side 2 of the album Meddle so a bit long for a reaction video😉
Thank you for watching the video, It means a lot to me .

Thanks
Awee thank you so much ❤️
You would probably enjoy seeing the LIVE performance of Wish You Were Here from the Pulse Concert (London 1994).
Please listen to "Shine on you Crazy Diamond ". It's on the "wish you were here " album also. Probably their most moving song. Note: parts 1-9.
I adore your reactions so much, I really believe that if you watch Echoes by Pink Floyd from Pompeii you will be in tears. 4 men and their instruments in a ruined building. The talent. The atmosphere. The sheer genius is so moving. Enjoy your journey x
Thank you, glad to see you like the reaction ❤️
Super se achicharro el cerebro 🧠
My favorite Pink Floyd song.
Wow, very insightful comments, very bright young woman.
This may be the best song ever.
This is about the loss of cherished original band member Syd Barrett, how it feels to be in the Public eye, and much more. 'Living in a Goldfish Bowl' is an English phrase meaning that you're on show, like an exhibit, with nothing to protect you from a stranger's gaze.
It is cool that a young lady listens to pink Floyd there music is the best u are a cool young lady ❤
“Confronting what it means to be human”
Great description of Pink Floyd’s work :)
Still in my top 3 all time favourite songs, thanks for doing this one it hits close for me 🙂
You're welcome, hope you enjoyed it ️❤️
Love your comment, "Too beautiful and too short", it's an amazing song.
Thank you so much, glad to see you enjoyed the reaction ❤️
Animals doesn't get enough credit, some of the best song.
It was great growing up with this music. I saw them live in New York City in 1977 when I was 17!
Sorry to hear you’re going through a rough time. Sometimes music about others going through it, like this one is, end up helping more than the feel-good prescription songs we think we need. Something about how we’re all made up of patches and tears too, maybe.
We all have those days ❤️
One of the greatest bands of all time.
Pink Floyd must be listened to at full volume!
Wish you were here and comfortably numb are my 2 favorites songs of pink floyd
Hi, young lady! You bring hope to me, knowing young generation is not all screwed up, quite rare to see younger people apreciate good old, true music. And your reactions are unpretentious and honest. Thank you!
BTW, I love your accent! Those ringing 'r's and soft 'ch's and 'sh's.... Love it! Eastern European?
Beautiful and sad! 🩵
You must hear and see "US AND THEM" pure poetry and this album can not be skipped "Shine on you crazy diamond
You are a superb presenter. So natural and insightful. Huge thnx
Your smiling face said it all.... The power of music!
You have just been Mesmerized. Listen to it Live.
Favourite word in a Pink Floyd song...
"willowing" (bending twisting and turning without breaking)
"The Echoe of a distant time comes willowing across the sand and everything is green and submarine"
Can't think of a more poetic way to describe the passage of deep time before life left the ocean.
i think this song is about leave behind who you are to fit on some standards. the problem being that no matter how much you try to escape from yourself you just can't go so far before realizing that you just find the same old problems that you were trying to run from. to me, it's not about two people that wish that the other was there. instead, he is sing it to that part of himself that went away... it's such an amazing song... i love PF so much.
Dear Bisscute, it's a pure joy to watch a fellow music lover as she discovers a song that will stay in her heart forever.
I fully recommend listening to Shine on you Crazy Diamond, in it's entirety..
I think it’s like giving up the possibility’s of the ocean, and settling for the pond.
Another great reaction by you, Bisscute! Keep on reacting - you do a great job with your reactions!!
Thank you so much ❤️
Pink Floyd are no doubt the band to go to for depth and inspiration.
Pink Floyd's The Wall
I've watched numerous of times
and always astounded by how much raw emotions was well placed in the creation of their soundtrack and film.
Just when you thought there was all you could ever possibly learn
for as many times previously watched
is when you discover there's yet more to learn.
Their shear talent for layering insight is truly amazing.
I'm fortunate enough to have listened to them in concert.
Their music is a message for all of humanity
to listen with care.
They've been and always will be
personally at the top of my heart's list to mind where ever I go
'the words are there to guide you but it's the feeling you get' - Brilliant. This applys to so many great songs. You are wise beyond your years.
Thank you ❤️
Vision vary wise.
Hard not to feel the music, they are amazing ❤
I think this record is actually thier best work. It's so complete when listened to all at once, autobiographical to the band but also broadly about the suffering that is a typical humans existance. Also your smile is mezmerizing. The problem is not you smiling , it's people that don't understand how to appreciate art.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Pink flyod !!! ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
Bisscute, yours was actually one of the most perceptive and articulate reactions - not just to this song but to any - that I’ve seen.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Love this song. One of the first songs I learned on guitar.
your insight is beautiful, thanks for the wonderful music
The beginning of this song is a guy listening to the radio and coming upon this guitar riff. You can hear him cough etc. he then starts to play along with the radio.
"Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is a remarkable work of art you should experience. Also, it's longer which you should appreciate.
If you want to see the guys "back in the day" playing live in an ancient Roman Amphitheatre with No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics and a Dave Gilmour with No Shirt then check out
Pink Floyd - "Echoes" (Part 1) live at Pompeii 1972
This version is better as a reaction piece as its cut into 2 parts with a reduced "sound scape" section in the middle. The original track is the entire Side 2 of the album Meddle so a bit long for a reaction video😉
