You're so charming, when you listen to music😂I like young peoples discovering the music, like i discovered it when i was younger😂It reminds me the good times....You're super cool, and i will continue to follow your channel, you and your followers are really cool....I hope, you will listen to my heroes, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin, one day... Peace from France, petite princesse😂✌️🌹PS: singing the same as the guitar solo, is called "scatting" in english, i think....And, it's my hero Jimi Hendrix who made that became famous😂😢❤

@@favouriteislandgirlit was nothing😂I, just, say the truth....And my advice for your channel to grow up, is to do the same: stay natural, tell the truth....Some peoples will, probably, tell you bad things, if they're hardcore fans, but, no need to care about that! I love music, all genres, a lot of bands, as a guitarist, former roadie, i worked with huge bands, but i don't like all what they did😂About, the word "scatting", i'm not sure for the ortograph, sorry, english isn't my native language, and i don't use the google translator which is so stupid, that it creates some french words that never exsisted😂😂😂🤭(if it's wrong your followers will say it😂)I prefer trying to speak or write like i learned....So, i can make some mistakes, but, David Gilmour, in that concert, do that, and it was in 1994, and i can show you some songs of Jimi Hendrix who was, already, doing that in 1969😂All the guitarists on that planet the amateurs, or the professionals, or the legends, were all influenced, by Hendrix....Thanks to have answered me....Peace from France ✌️🌹PS: in 1994, i saw that concert, that tour, in my hometown, Strasburg, France, i was 14 years old, and i will never forget it😂

We lost our daughter in 2019. She was 36, and we still haven't found out what caused her death. No drugs or alcohol in her system. Every time I hear this song I so emotional that I cry. I'm 64 and have enjoyed Pink Floyd since I was 15. Keep feeling the music down in your soul. ❤

Syd Barrett, a founding member of PF, descended into psychosis as a young man. His leaving the group was heartbreaking to them. The first part of the song where they're asking all the questions "do you think you can tell . . ." are assessing who he had become and what was left of their friend and inspiration. The second half expresses that they wished he was back with them.
The real heartbreak came one day in the recording studio when a very unusual guy showed up and just hung around. After a bit, they finally recognized him. He had gone from an incredibly handsome young man to a bald, fat, shapeless man who had shaved his eyebrows off. The truly magicial thing about this song is that, even without the background story of it, the music and lyrics can evoke these incredibly powerful emotions in people. Thank you for your sharing your experience with us. Your reaction is just as magical as the music.

nothing can speak to the soul like a 12 string guitar. mine was custom made for my father by a guy in italy he met while TDY for a month when we were stationed in england in the late 70s. the tension from the strings is so strong, it has a huge block of wood in the body to mount the neck to, otherwise it would snap the body in half. it a very heavy guitar. sounds amazing. hard to play for long.

Getting emotional while listening to this song is perfectly normal.
This song is a reminder of the troubled friendship, taken away by the mental illness of their childhood friend (Syd Barrett), friend and co-founder of Pink Floyd.
Much of their life swimming in the same fishbowl is now a thing of the past, so we wish Syd were here.

This song is about loss. Along with ' Shine on you crazy diamond ' it was written for founding member Syd Barrett who had to leave in the early days due to drug related problems. All the band were very close at that time and were heartbroken when Syd was unable to return. In Gilmours brilliant wistful acoustic / vocal interplay you can hear his longing for his old friend. But of course the song can be applied to anyone who has lost someone.

They are the most favorite of mine and was fortunate to see them live on this tour and the previous tour. I can't wait to watch the journey that you have begun. That's a good example of why Live Concerts aren't the best for an intro to a song or group - the crowd knows the album/song by heart so the bands often take liberties to give a 'personalized' touch - and usually the crowd noise can detract a lot - and except for PF, the bands usually can't come close to the engineered sonic perfection they had in studio. I'll suggest ON THE TURNING AWAY, COMFORTABLY NUMB, and the entire DARK SIDE OF THE MOON album, front to back, all in one sitting (particularly TIME).

Should really be heard in its righful place on "Dark Side of the Moon", but you can still react to it on its own.
