    Yes. That helped a lot. Thank you!!!! We had a holiday the week that we were scheduled to talk about this among many other things, so they scrunched our learning material that week because of the missed day and i never got the chance to understand it. I understood the logging, just not the recapping so i never could anticipate my future time and would just end up taking a 34 in the end. Now i can plan my schedule better.

However, Mr. Cornell, you are very smart and very knowledgeable when it comes to trucking. I will listen to all your advice because I do believe you will always try to keep us safe on the road. Fineprint!!! The Key is going on sleeper berth to gain your hours back!! And there are splits to make this happen. You can split the 10 hour sleeper birth up to gain more drive and shift time but your cycle will not replenish some recaps unless you do 10 hours of sleeper. You split the 10 hours of sleeper up by doing 2 or more hours on sleeper birth but if you want that extra time u have break it up the correct way. 10. 2 off duty and 8 on slpr equals 10, 3 on off duty and 7 slpr equals 10 . This will give you some extra hours especially after at midnight!!

    I like this explanation- I’ve always had a mental block as to when you get the recap back. My brother suggested it’s because we are conditioned to a 7 DAY CYCLE - a week- and that an 8 day cycle basically messes with your head. I think I agree. But I think it would be better if the instructor- who I do appreciate- pointed out the number of hours available on the recap. 70- 56= 14. Of which you can drive up to 11 hr.

So from what im getting is that on the 1st through the 7th, I could run 12, 12, 10, 10, 8, 4, 4 and then on the 8th I would be able to drive for 12 again since it would take off 12 hours from the 1st. • @elarson86
      @elarson86 3 роки тому

      Correct and though I’m in a driver program right now and where you’ll run into problems is when you have a streak of short days, those short days or even if you went off duty for 24 hours on one day, you’ll have 0 hours to recap when that day falls off. If you aren’t recapping long days and you just got hours here n there, you’re better off just doing a 34 hour reset and refreshing your 70

    • @AllHardNation
      @AllHardNation 3 роки тому +1

      @@Thisisebm Sorry but how is he correct? He said on the 8th day to drive 12 again? If you add up he drove 72hrs in an 8 day period. You said you can't go over 70 hrs in an 8 day period so he's not correct. He could drive 10 hrs and max his 70hrs time and the next day, 9th day he could drive 12.

    Great video that broke it down better for me. but does that mean you can basically work for 8 hours everyday combined driving and on duty till you doing a full 34 hours reset

    • @Thisisebm
      @Thisisebm  3 роки тому +3

      Thanks for watching John!
      The 8 hours I was using is just an example, because each day will be different depending on your assignment. You may just work 5 hours one day 9 hour on the next. But as long as you don't exceed 70 hours in a 8 days you won't have to do a 34 hour reset because of the recap of the hours that day falling off, if that makes sense.

    • @Thisisebm
      @Thisisebm  10 місяців тому +2

      Once a day falls off from earlier that week, Whatever hours you worked on that day you get them back on your 70. So starting from the day that you're on count back 7 more and that would be your 8 day recap just like in the video. Let me know if we need to talk about it further. Because you need to know how this works if you are a OTR driver. Feel free to watch it again! Please visit www.thisisebm.com

    I have big problems with that. Basically another to get recaps drive for 8 hrs which combines with on duty and on duty not driving whether fueling or pre trip, right? What about if not doing none of those things let’s I have to make a quick stop to use the restroom. Thanks!

    Good video, but
    My run is long , from Toronto to California drop , then pick from California to New York or further east , so after 70 hours in the 8th day I use recap hours , my question is in 13 days midnight how many hours should stop 24 hours or 36 hours ?
    Thank u

    • @Thisisebm
      @Thisisebm  2 роки тому

      Hello Kenni that's a real good question.. But only you know the answer to that my friend... I don't know what kind of contractual agreement you have or job obligation. And it depends on how many hours you're gaining back if that makes sense. if good hours coming back off the recap, then you can run and run but if you don't have good hours coming back then a 34 hour reset it's a good idea, if it's just to recharge your body then 13 can do that so you can get back to the money. I do know that you have to be safe and make it back home alive. it sounds like you're running hard but don't run yourself in the ground and take time for yourself at some point you need some rest, whether 13 hours Or 34 hour that's up to you. You know what you can handle and still be safe.Being well rested is the key to you being able to run that safely. get some rest and be safe my friend and thanks for watching I hope I answered your question. 🕛

      You should have gained back 8 and still have what you didn't use off your 70 accordion to the example I was using, So yes, you should have around 15 hour available the next day...Thanks for watching Kingsley!
