    Very nice rig, but your German Short-haired pointers were the stars of the video. Beautiful dogs!

    Thanks for your video. I am about to order a hiker within the next year. All I hear is positive about them. Thanks again, stay safe and God bless.

      You'll definitely love your trailer if you decide to go with one. We're 2 years in, very hard on our trailer, and have had no issues!

    Hey guys, I'm your mom's first cousin. My husband and I go camping all the time. Tenting has worked for us but I think that life cycle is about over. The Hiker looks like it could be a fit for us at some point. We love off-road camping. We aren't recluses but if there are more than two of us it's too many. Congratulations on your stove win. Thanks for bringing the awesome outdoors to us from our recliners. Enjoy!

      Awesome, glad you're enjoying the videos! The most important part is just getting out camping whatever way works. The Hikers are great for those who enjoy a no-frills rv experience. Just enough to carry gear and have a more comfortable sleeping space.

    I'm 90% sold on HTC. Largely because of your videos and others on UA-cam. Just waiting until spring 2023. The drone footage at end was wonderful.

    We love our hiker, we also have 5x9 mid-range just with 17" galley & 270deg awning. Just added 200w solar panels. Easy to pack, awesome to sleep in. Lots of complements whenever we go from people that pass by. Enjoy and safe travels.

      Thanks! Safe travels to you as well. Solar has been a very worth while upgrade for us as we begin taking longer trips. On our last trip we had 4 cloudy days in a row (rare for here in AZ). Fortunately we still got just enough input to get by and then had a full sun day and got fully charged up.

    I live in TX and as big as it is, there is very little public land here. Most land is private property. I love to go to CO, UT, NM and other western states that have vast amounts of public land. I miss not having that in TX. Thank you for the video. It is very helpful for me as I am looking at these types of trailers. I agree that setting things up (and tearing down) with tents, etc. is very time consuming and I hate that part of tent camping, not to mention other things (uneven ground, water running under the tent when it rains, etc.).

    Congrats on the photo contest win (and the nice stove)👍. This past week we had the maiden voyage of our Hiker Mid Range XL 5x9. Had 3 teenage grandsons using the RTT, and myself and the pup slept in the trailer of course. We also enjoy having the 270 awning, in case of rain, plus, it just provides a nice porch effect to sit under early morning, and at night, with a cup of coffee.

    Great and helpful video. I am curious about boondock camping.
    I have an Off Road version Xterra and it can go almost anywhere. Can your Hiker go anywhere you can take your Xterra?
    Hiker has another level of rugged, off road camper, but I'm not sure I need that extreme.
    Thank you.

      Our Mid-range XL can absolutely go anywhere our stock Pro4x could go. The caveat is you must go much slower. Our friends with the Extreme Off Road can go much faster with the full suspension offered on that model. I did add Timbren towing bump stops as the Xterras leafs are super soft and we would bottom out hard. Unfortunately our X died a few months ago (red light runner murdered her but thankfully kept us safe). Super happy with our new 4Runner but definitely still miss the X.

    Very helpful vid for someone in the market. Going to go full wall diamond plate on the front, but how have your sides been holding up, love the look without it.

    • @desertpointadventures
      @desertpointadventures  Рік тому

      Sides have been totally fine as far as rock hits go. The fenders are substantial enough to keep all the debris from hitting the side walls. We do have quite a bit of "desert pin-striping" from bushes and other desert foliage scraping the sides on narrow desert trails. The diamond plate would not help with that anyway as the scratches go up the sides completely.

    Does anyone have an opinion on why Hiker over Runaway? Specific advantages??? Or Runaway over Hiker?????????? Thanks.
    Oh, and by the way, those dogs are beautiful!! Love how they think they're still small enough to sit on your lap! Adorable.

    • @desertpointadventures
      @desertpointadventures  7 місяців тому +1

      I think any trailer or setup that gets you out camping is the best setup. I personally prefer the wood interior of the Hiker and the closed off galley with shelving when comparing the two manufacturers. We feel like the wood interior makes it our cozy cabin on wheels and feels less sterile. I'm sure the Runaway's are a great quality budget option as well. Both trailers fit the main advantage I talk about in the video. The less installed options, the less likely for anything major to go wrong.

    I just came across the Hiker Trailer. Currently we are still tent camping, but wife and I are getting older, and thinking of a small trailer, like tear drop, for sleeping and storage. These look great for the price. We are also in AZ, and so I'm wondering where you purchased your Hiker Trailer at?

    • @desertpointadventures
      @desertpointadventures  Рік тому +1

      We have family in the midwest so we ordered and picked up from the Columbus, IN location. I believe Leaddog Motorsports in Lake Havasu City is the closest dealer, however you will have to pay a dealer destination fee. There are no added fees when picking up at the factory.

      Thanks! It was the generic Walmart outdoor brand (Ozark?). This was purchased a few years ago and we have not seen them in a while 😕.

    We just went to Moore Overland in Springfield, MO, and got to check out several type campers. The Hiker was my favorite. They looked alot bigger in person. I was shocked. I love the simplicity of Hiker as well. We like to roadtrip and it seems these would be great. We have 2 large dogs as well. I have been curious how difficult it is to fit and sleep 2 adults and 2 dogs. I would not want to leave my dogs outside. They need their cozy safe space too. Glad I found your channel. This was very helpful !!! I have been curious about a tow vehicle as well. How does your pathfinder do with it? It is just a V6 I assume? Do you have 4WD? Appreciate you all for sharing.

    • @desertpointadventures
      @desertpointadventures  Рік тому

      We have a Nissan Xterra Pro4x (4X4). It pulls the trailer great! It's the standard Nissan V6 so there are no worries on power (5kLBS towing capacity). We are certainly cozy with both pups inside!

      I can't find the exact one anymore. It was Ozark brand from Walmart. Here is a link to one that is similar, I am not familiar with the company that the website is for so just fair warning we have not bought from them before.

    Why don't you put some mud flaps on your tow vehicle?

    • @desertpointadventures
      @desertpointadventures  2 роки тому

      The Xterra had rigid plastic mud flaps which ripped off due the terrain we travel in. I should definitely look into a different solution.
