- We put a bid on this rare Corsa CDX 1.2 16V auto not thinking we would win it... but we did.
So off we went 380 miles south to Wiltshire to get it and hopefully drive it back to Scotland as it had 9 months MoT and seemed in good condition.
But... a surprise was waiting in store. We also pick up an equally rare C18XE 1.8 16v engine and check out some cool V6 turbo Vauxhalls. It's an eventful adventure!
The main reason very few 3 door corsas survive apart from rust is the cracking of the B post which results in an MOT failure. This was caused by flex in the body shell which only affected 3 doors. Vauxhall Opel conveniently kept quiet about it , then when pressed did not do a recall but offered a repair at a price which most people declined. I have seen lots cracked and many more with flaking filler. Although I can't recall the last one i mot'd.
Love the 2nd and 3rd lane hoggers. Means lane 1 is clear for me to saunter past them all while they exert all their energies trying to get past the driver in front.....
Really cool to see and learn of these kinds of cars,
They're not the typical cars people would look at, But they are interesting in their own ways and for their own reasons.
Love bob coming to inspect the latest arrival 👌👌
driving home from copart is one of the riskiest moves you can make 🤣
The things I do for content 😂 Not even Vice Grip Garage is that brave 🤷😂
Nice example to rescue for posterity, Dougie. Good job.
Great video Dougie, I really enjoyed watching it.
This Corsa is in very good condition for its age, mileage is great too❤.
Of the many channels regarding cars I follow, yours is consistently good quality. No "shock, horror" thumbnails attempting to lure potential viewers in. Plus, my 1993 Vauxhall cavalier 1.8i in red was one of the best cars I ever owned. Thank you and keep up the good work. P.S. I also had a Vectra in 1996 1.8L.
Another brilliant video Dougie, the little Corsa aside from the alarming issue and the holes in the floor looks a great little car.
Good save. Should have no problem finding a home.
Loved the video! Very good purchase and of course Bob's inspection is a must 😂
Cheers from Spain
You're a courageous man Dougie, straight of the loader forks on to the road and of to Scotland 😂👌great video and no new edition to the fleet is complete without inspection and approval from Bob!👌
Keep up the good work!
Cheers, Mike
It makes me cringe to see the car being moved with a forklift
Theres a retrieval fee aswell from copart! Just for them to f up your shi*. Robbing b's
@@yorkshireman7025There's a fee for everything at CoPart it's ludicrous 😵💫🥴😂
Yeh i know. I signed up few years back after taking interest in astra h vxr. Leh with something like 40k. Cat b breaker. My plan was to gut it and build my mk4. But after realising the fees they charge i didn't bother! They charge something like 500 to 'rent a bay' hundreds to transport car to your local copart ..ive never known anything like it. Oh then theres some nonsense about having scrap licence 😂 oh and after all fees theres vat WITH LUBE
I've been in a Corsa auto. You could feel every change.
Lovely example with lots of potential Dougie
Nice wee cars them Corsas, I bought a new Corsa GLS 1.5TD in 1995. Cracking motor, the Isuzu diesel was very fuel efficient over 60 mpg! Great video Dougie👍😎
Nice video. Make me laugh that last MOT said presumably about holes in the floor pan: Corrosion near side & off side front, not within prescribed area!! 😃
Good find, hopefully it’ll go to someone who will look after it
Nice one Dougie 👍🏴
I saw a maroon/burgundy late registered 02 reg one of these 1.2 Auto Corsa Bs in the East Midlands a few years ago.
Super save there Dougie. :) Well done lad.
My current job is work from home so not doing much driving, but was on the M6 j21 to j17 yesterday and people’s lane discipline in appalling. We had all 4 lanes doing about 50 to 60 mph at one point because no one will move left, even if the lane is clear. What is wrong with people?
Another great video has always Dougie 👍
So many lane hoggers makes me soo angry I'm tempted to do the PIT manoeuvre
Only ever seen one other Corsa B CDX. A red 5 door with the leather interior. Can’t be that many left now, especially as I don’t think there were that many in the first place
I own a 3 door cdx
Brilliant video!👍
The first car I had was a silver W-reg automatic Corsa B.
Got a chevette needing an engine if you want to see the c18 go for a good cause
Interesting setup on the v6 turbo, i remember years back wanting to turbo a 2.5 in a mk3 and nobody had really done it back then
I would absolutely love to see some of arran's cars on the channel and i love that shape astra that you were behind 19:57
Another great video Dougie. I dont know if your interested, i noticed yesterday on the rd to Calendar just past Doune theres a mk2 Astra lying in the bushes next to someones house. Might be worth a visit 👍
It's well known that Astra you'll find pics of it on Instagram. Been there for well over a decade
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmittenyep and before the Astra there was a lada Niva if I remember correctly
£40 in the ashtray MOT at Alan's Snack Bar, fair paly yet again man, fair play.
Good to see the car past the catscan.
What a good buy 😎
I’d be very interested to but would be an ideal runabout
dougie, why did you go from lane 1 to lane 3, around the white van and back to lane 1? were you trying to give the van a wee hint to move over because you didnt have to go around them to get passed as your not classed as undertaking just because your lane is travelling faster than theirs
Just down road from me .. would have given you a coffee !!
They v6 turbo corsa look wicked
You should keep the auto for your nephew and convert it to manual and sell the 4d corsa
Leather's a bit OTT, but what a nice little car, ABS too! Probably more fun than a D TBH.
If that hole's more than 30 cm from a suspension or belt mounting isn't it ok?
Seeing that corsa being lifted on a forklift made me think how much is being crushed under there
You have been lucky getting that home I think Dugie 😊
They brought out a friend of a friend's McLaren like that 😂
How did you manage to get copart let you drive off from site? Didn’t think you could do that? Thought you had to have trade plates as a minimum as the car’s are not registered and taxed in your name? Just what I’ve read, and have always organised delivery based on that. Ta
The forklift moving the car gives me serious anxiety, harsh basta... what's that assume, GPS speedo your using?
Copart Westbury are about as much use as a chocolate teapot... Unfortunately, as a transport provider I have the pleasure at least twice a week. It's a bit easier than it used to be with the app but you still have to physically ask which yard it is in.
Yeah we sat around for ages waiting for something to happen. I can imagine folk get stuck there all day quite easily
Watching the footie 😅
You should put the 1.8 init and keep it it’s too clean n have a little pocket rocket!!
Come on Dougie dont you know left hand lane is only if youre going less than 55 mph much easier to sit in middle lane and piss everyone off , as a hgv driver i cant use third lane or go over 56 as you well know but they still sit in middle lane at 53 . Awful lot of numptys out there great video as usual cant wait for next one.
*I left a facebook link in your last video it was for a cavalier for 350quid. It was afull car too*
Would you swap it for a 2008 transit connect van?
For a second i thought it had a redtop
Aye Bobs done a cat scan , so its fine .
I’ve owned 8 corsa bs from back in the day I lived on the corsa sport forums, that looks pretty mint needs a 2 litre in it though and a manual box 🤣
Nice Corsa. Reminds me of the Cars I learnt to drive in although BSM always seemed to run GLSi 1.4 5-doors with the 4-speed auto. This is a rarity. Can you fit cruise ?
Drove up from my brother in London last month, the M6 was exactly as depicted :D Stuck at Thellwell viaduct for two fecking hours as traffic jam tailed back J21 to J19. Was mucho knackered - still very warm end Aug. Squisquosh monstered it and was still on its London fuel with 90 miles range (470 driven since last fill) until last week. Fully endorse your disdain for those who don't fecking know what "lane discipline is".... Roasters indeed. Stopped at Forton (Lancaster) but think that was a bit too far for me from S.E London ..... oh well will know the next time. M6 Toll was good road (exempt lol). Oh yeah after effects of covid did me no favours either...
Would need to work out a bracket to hold the cruise cable but yeah you can fit it. Some are easier than others. The XE, LET and XEV all have a slot on the throttle cable bracket for a cruise cable even though the first two never came with it on any model.
I’m surprised it had fuel ! Copart drained my sons tank while storing it after an accident
You still got the cadiliac?
Bobs a she it seems 😂 another amazing video dougie cheers
How can you start an Auto without your foot on the brake pedal?
Most older cars just required it to be in Park
The M25 is terrible for the changing speed limits, down to 50 , down to 40 back to 60, down to 50! Just leave it at one level ,say 50 and do no more! It just bunches up the traffic and causes gridlock!
why would you travel all that way for this, surely not any money to be made here? im confused
Corsa sounds like needs chain 😮
wooow i would love that 👍👍👍👍
£400 cash I’ll come tonight bruv
£1995 ono.....jesus 😂
How come they let you drive it out of the yard?
Why wouldn't they it was fully road legal
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten as far as I'm aware they have to leave on a recovery vehicle
@@VintageMopeds maybe I got lucky. I did explain my intention to drive it as it wasn't listed with anything other than minor scratches, it was MoTd and was still even taxed. Of course the real reason it had ended up there was the melted wiring but that fact seemed to have got lost along the way 🥴😘
Didn't mean to put that 😘 emoji there just the 🥴 one 😂😂😂
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten 🤣😆
Sat on settee with one of my westies, she sees the cat at the end and launches at the iPad balanced on the end of the settee and bang clatter crash jeesh if she had a brain she’d be dangerous.
How will it have a fresh mot when it has 9 months left?
Because I will go and MoT it again
What a stupid question 🤣🤣
not when he said hes going to sell it in a few months :/@@Philljag
@@ciars11 not sure how? If he’s SAID it will have a fresh mot? what in your mind does that mean?
Well that's why I've asked a the question? I'm not sure if you know but you cant get an mot a month before it due date and that's more than 2 months away...@@Philljag
Hi Doug, selling my 1995 Astra if interested
Would suit my lassie she 19 and trying to pass her test ,she wants an auto ,pm me price dougie
Put the engine in corsa
I was thinking that lol
WHY
TV while driving is not cool

Nice one Dougie 👍🏴
