I had an epic siege of vlandians roll through against one of my Battanian castles with level 1 walls and only about 300 defenders against something like 1500-2000. We ambushed them early on to take out their battering ram and siege tower, and I managed to take out some of their commanders before ending the skirmish. Going right into the assault on the castle afterwards, I happened to have two fire catapults stationed just above the gates. As they came up with their heavily armored troops bunched up under the ladders, just within tossing distance of my catapult ammunition dump, I went from like level 5 to level 72 throwing ability in one battle with hundreds of kills to my name. When the pots ran out I just posted up with my bow and headshot them climbing the ladder like a really easy game of duck hunt. They retreated after losing their first 500 troops, proceeded to TRY AGAIN and I got to repeat my fun little game of burning men alive
I wish the AI was a little smarter. They get stuck trying to get up those ladders. They should have been coming en masse, but looks like they were going up one at a time.
thats the thing w ladders tho. if u only have ladders, a player can hold that entry point alone. thats also why its important to build rams and towers; so you dont get stuck tryna trickle over the walls. and thats why its important to build catapults/onagers/mangonels on defense; to break rams/towers. and on offense, to do the same to destroy the defending catapults. sieges are really a rock paper scissors game. all they have on defense is ballista? one ram will be enough. Attackers have no rams or towers? ballistas will suffice. then theres always some possibility for cheesy strategies on some maps if you know them.
I don't know if I'd call this a pro-tip, but I don't usually command my troops in sieges. Sometimes the AI doesn't position them quite right, but I've found when I try to order them around, it makes it far worse. Also: 1. I felt that feel when you throw the rock and destroy your own fortifications. 2. Dude must be quite confident in his manhood to be carryin' 'round a two-handed axe that small. 😂
2h small axes are fantastic in sieges. Also, commanding troops in sieges can be great for certain situations. Sometimes it's advantageous for example, to open your gate so the enemy storms through there instead of multiple chokepoints, letting you position your infantry to create a reverse wedge, allowing your archers to fire into the backs of the enemies.
@@anderseriksson7698 not long after my comment, I was defending a khuzait castle. Since the left side isn’t connected along the wall, I’ve switched to putting a small line of infantry in the inner wall leading to the keep. Then placed my archers on the walls surrounding them. That was great! Saving your men's lives by holding a whole wall on your own. Could have pulled all of your archers back and moved up some infantry on the walls when the Vlandians start breaching the walls, so you can use most of those archers for a final stand on better Highground.
Difficulty level? You got hit by 2 arrows almost immediately, dealing 2 damage to your character each, so it's hardly Bannerlord-difficulty, which would see you dead in 2-3 arrows
@@georgewashington9374 Stacking HP Perks doesn't prevent you from damage, it just increases your "threshold" before passing out...
