Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE)
A thorough examination of the periodontal tissues is an important part of patient care. The BPE is a basic and quick screening instrument that is used to determine the level of additional testing required and to offer information.
Basic treatment advice is required. These BPE recommendations are not mandatory, but they do serve as a starting point.
For first periodontal examination, this is the gold standard. BPE should only be used for screening and should not be utilised for anything else.
