Hello, this is quite the old video but I want to leave my ECO impressions here for anyone who is considering buying one
-Ink capacity and being a demonstrator is what sold the pen to me, being able to see the ink is aesthetically pleasing and it can be even more pleasing if you are into combining the accent color of the pen and the ink it contains.
-The pen I got (TWSBI ECO Heat) came in with a bit of nib problems, I got a fine nib, tines were kinda misaligned and overall TOO Tight, nib had wetness problems like skipping and general dryness after a paragraph of writing until I fixed it with brass sheets. After that, nib has a pencil-like feedback in cheap paper and smooth feedback in good paper.
-So long four months with this pen and I haven't had any cracking problems or loose structural problems.
-The pen cleaning and assembly are not that difficult, just odd if you come from entry level fountain pens.
Great video! Thank you for your first impressions.

My first piston-filler fountain pen was a black TWSBI ECO, extra-fine, and mine had slop in the knob that bugged the crap out of me. I thought I was doing something wrong, having no experience with piston fillers prior to this. I have since acquired some ECO clones, the Lanbitou 3059. and I LOVE the positive "click" when the piston is fully retracted, and there is no slop in the knob whatsoever. I finally decided the slop problem was a TWSBI issue and not MY issue. I have since also acquired a couple other ECO pens and they don't have the knob slop problem. Your mileage may vary.

I ordered a TWSBI Eco Black with medium nib. The one I got was extreme scratchy but only going from right to left. going from left to right it was really smooth. So I thought, it's a defect and ordered another one. It has exactly the same problem. Since nobody is writing anything about this problem, I am starting to think, it could be a problem with the medium nib, since every review is with a fine or stub nib. Do you have any experience with the medium nib on a TWSBI Eco?

Sounds like misaligned tines. I would try to realign them myself with my fingers. Since you already have a few, it wouldn't hurt to try it out on one, no? I had a Lamy EF nib with that same issue (one of my firsts) and i basically just had it sitting in a drawer until i built up the courage to manipulate the tines myself.

that's what i thought as well. i tried softly but maybe too soft. i didn't want to destroy anything. so i just sent them back. i talked to another so shop on the phone (better service) and now i am trying their twsbi.
but how are the odds that i get two exactly the same misaligned twsbi pens when nobody else is having ever had a problem with twsbi nibs?

@@qoool If you are able to, sending them back is the best course of action. If you tried to realign the tines yourself, it really is a bit nerve wracking. Ive adjusted a few of my nibs already and each time i made pretty much no progress until i got to the point where it felt like i was bending them a bit too much. If you want to try it out, perhaps start with something relatively cheap like the jinhao 82. I dont think it can be done on the preppy since the nib seems like it is permanently attached to the feed, and i wouldn't do it on the kakuno either since I can find jinhaos in my country for a third of the price.

Kinda disappointed to hear about all those quality issues when a $4 chinese pen has no issues at all and works flawlessly... what the heck.
