Hi Jamie! Thanks for this video, as you say it's so difficult to find Portuguese resources on this topic. Do you happen to know which surgeries are covered by the National Health Services, and which are only available for private patients? I have found evidence that 'lower surgery' is available on the NHS, as well as top surgery for trans men, but what about surgeries such as FFS and mammoplasties for trans women? Are these only available privately?

Hey! :) Yeah, it's pretty difficult to find anything and it's mostly by asking people who you know who can ask others and at the end of the day, everyone is privative about it, specifically about SNS since it's very personal and even in Portuguese the resources are super sparse since SNS is literally done to people living in Portugal. And when it comes to trans women, I'd recommend asking other trans women.
This is a good question and I took a long while researching it the other day (I needed to research said question for another thing) and I tried today as well.
I can't find anything for FFS for trans women in SNS but I'd say if you are in Portugal it's best to ask your doctor who is the head to tell you what can be done and etc.
When it comes to top surgery, I understand that it's for trans women and trans men and same for bottom surgery should be easily done through SNS.
SNS does not have private clients, so it would be a private clinic doing the stuff. SNS can outsource at times but it is very very rare and the only instance that I know of is when the lists are overflowed like in covid pandemic when restrictions were being lifted.
When it comes to FFS and other surgeries, it is still a question worth asking your doctor in SNS as they will have great recommendations for anyone to help and I find SNS very helpful, but of course that depends from hospital to hospital, city to city and etc. It is important to be patient as well and I cannot stress this enough. I hope I helped :)

Heyo! I know there are certain reddits that focus on transitioning in certain countries like transnord or German trans subreddits, there's quite a few info about Spain. I'd really search the countries you're interested on reddit and message people you see or interact in their subreddits.

Also please don't hesitate to contact me thru my socials, as I feel that youtube comments can be a bit clunky :) I'm glad to help with whatever I know and what I can find out :)

Racism in Portugal? The housing crisis is not an issue? You need to talk more with portuguese people before you start making "informative" videos.
