Love the "Engine Center of Mass" hack! Great information. I've got THOUSANDS of hours in this game and I never put that together with rovers! Great video, as always!
I too have a few hours in the game. It's not a trick for a small/light weight rover, but for larger, long range surface missions, it can help with stability.
I made a very similar rover to this and use it to set up remote science experiment centers. I use the photo panel, control center, weather station, seismic and communication units for each center and place them across the various areas and passively gain science points.
This is very cool exploit with the COG moved downwards with an engine. It never occurred to me this would work. Great idea, I will put it to good use. Given how the gravity and surfaces work in KSP I think it is perfectly fair. I like explore with rovers in general, but sometimes they drive me nuts! 👿
bro i am trying to place my wheels but it keeps switching to symmetry and everytime i mirror it it doesnt mirror properly and the game thinks that i placed the structural in the left
My rover keeps spinning slowly across the ground, it makes it really annoying when i try to dock it with things and i was wondering if you had a fix. Thanks!
This is an issue with the wheels. I have the most issues with the RoveMax Model S2. Turn on advanced tweakables in the game settings. You may need to adjust the spring strength, dampening or friction.
There are different methods for landing rovers. Depending on where you are landing the rover influences the method. For planets and moons without an atmosphere, I like using a sky crane. Recently I took a rover to Duna and used lithobraking (I made a video about it). Eve and Laythe have thick atmospheres, so a couple parachutes on a decoupler would work well.
Doesn't work with current patch. Can't raise the solar panels for the roof part more then an inch off the base. Spent several hours trying various methods.
I just cant get the first 2 pieces to connect the way you do. Already spent more time than i care to admit. Half the build is corner connected pieces and ... yea. On ps4 this shit is impossible.
The engine is specifically for shifting the Center of Mass. The offset mass with the engine pushes the CoM of the rover below ground. This keeps the rover very stable.
There are a couple that were added with the Making History DLC and there are a few that you can find. wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/List_of_bases_on_Kerbin
The whole "Only _% of my viewers are subscribed" thing that people have been doing is super annoying. Most people who watch YT videos aren't subscribed. That's just the way YT works and it is unlikely to change in the near future.
I think your content is top notch. Everything is well explained, and you've definitely helped me get better at Kerbal. Thank you for these vids!
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment.

Underrated channel fs… very good vid keep it up man!

The center of gravity exploit is helpful. I found the mod Bon Voyage to be a nice way to use rovers without having to worry about crashing.
Thats a cool trick with the engine, thank you!

now i have to build stuff sideways because everytime i try building rovers facing the outside of hanger then the wheels just spin in a wrong direction

i don't know why,but my solar panels just refuse to go above the metal bases, leading to a no roof rover, how can i fix this?
Hold shift while using the offset tool
@@Echo3 thanks
Interesting design. But how would you land it?

I made this and it was fun. What's the purpose of the jet engine you put. Do we actually turn that on or is it there purely for weight?

What mod did you mentioned? For rovers
Bon voyage
How do i get different launch areas??

Ok tysmmmm
I have ksp 1 I don't see any that I can even get
@@UnitedStates_ofAmerica6 Do you have the Making History DLC and are you playing on the latest version on PC?
I'm playing pc
How do you get that to minmus?
For the video, I used the place tool in the debug menu, since the video focused on rover design rather than deployment.
it keeps telling me i have an unmaned craft even though there are seats
Do you have Kerbals in those seats?
@@Echo3 i thought they just jump in when i spawn in like with cockpits
@@mr.waterbottle1265 in the hanger, make sure to assign a kerbal to a seat.
Am I the only person that when he placed the second set of panels they wouldn't go up?😢😢😢
If you hold shift, you can offset pieces further.
Oh okay thx
You sound like AntVenom and Storm_Surge

I think this is the only video that I have ever mentioned this, and it is probably going to stay that way. I agree, it does seem annoying.
Disagree. Asking viewership for support to continue making these fantastic tutorials actually seems pretty reasonable.
