Know thy self at the actual level🙏🏾🦋🌍
Plato and other greeks claimed the "gnosis auton" as an understanding of ourselves, which did not involve sitting still at early hours or training for years the 16 stages of Vipassana. A peaceful walk now and then will do, enjoying a good conversation or being silent. There is indeed quite a lot of romantic and arrogant claims on "enlightened masters of the past" and on “knowledge” in Vipassana teaching, as if we know something just by observing, or "noting" what is arising. It is as rather a setting up of cognitive concepts, psychological terms, which borders on psychoanalysis (e.g. "subconscious suppression of negativity") epistemology and metaphysics. An ordinary person does not know this, not before extensive vipassana training and not after years of it. It is more of an romantic self aggrandizing gesture that rather fosters dishonesty and futile wishes of getting "enlightened" or wiser than other, "holier than thou". Of course sitting still, being dispassionate and silent sometimes is all good, but Vipassana is in most cases not primarily about that, however helpful it seems at face value.
what do you mean?vipassana is not helpfull?
