Joss Whedon revealed in an interview why Tony named the Hulk-buster suit "Veronica":
"You know, I just decided to call it 'Veronica' because he (Banner) used to be in love with a girl named 'Betty', and Veronica is the opposite of that." - A reference to Betty and Veronica, who compete for Archie's attention in the 'Archie' comics.

But remember that Ultron knows everything that was in Tony's databanks. Hawkeye's place (and his family) were truly kept a secret from just about everyone. So Tony didn't know about it... and thus Jarvis/Ultron would not have known of its existence. It was the ONLY safe place they could go.

Most people tend to overlook this movie it really serves as a stepping stone to the next phase of the franchise. Personally its one of my favorites because it has more camaraderie between the team they can fight bad guys and banter and joke while doing it and showcases Hawkeye and why he’s my favorite of the original 6 avengers he is the everyman the grounding force that keeps the avengers human. In a team of a super soldier, a god, a rage monster, a genius billionaire with the most advance technology at his hands even Natasha one ups Clint as she uses guns in a crisis and is willing to go the extra mile to get the mission done Clint is able to stand with them with only a bow and arrow something he lampshades in his talk with Wanda. Clint is the one who in situations when most people tend to step aside he steps up and offers to be the support in a way the others can’t. We know from his past he was ordered to kill Natasha but instead he gave her a chance to start over seeing that despite her actions she was a good person with potential. The reveal Clint has a family just adds more to the man he is he knows how to reach people in a genuine human way and he does that for Wanda with his pep talk after literally dooming the world he assures her that her past mistake siding with Ultron does not matter and that she has a chance to right her wrongs more importantly unlike Ultron he is not manipulating Wanda for her power Clint just sees a scared girl and offers her the choice to either run and hide or stand and fight and he says it in such an earnest way compared to Cap’s choppy ‘If you get killed walk it off’. Much as I like Tony this was not his best moment he knew his program was faulty and he still went with the plan to plug the sceptre with it and the worst part he never told the rest of the team instead he guilts Bruce into doing it behind their backs and when Ultron is created rather than take responsibility and own up to his error he tries again like nothing happened its a miracle Vision didn’t become another killing machine. All in all a enjoyable movie that sets the stage for the future phase of the MCU.

    34:28- VISION IS WORTHY!!!!

  • @webx135
    @webx135 2 роки тому +1

Keep in mind, much of Wanda's visions were warnings from the mindstone about what was coming. That's why Tony wanted his "suit of armor". He didn't see Thanos coming directly, but he did see the scale of the threat, and is why he was less worried about the side effects in the grand scheme of things.
Showed Thor something similar. Basically Thor's involvement unleased the infinity stones. So a decent chunk of the Infinity saga was on him to a similar extent that ultron is on Tony. Albeit less direct.
Nat and Steve mostly just saw their deepest traumas of their past and poked at them. They had relatively little involvement in the Infinity stones story. Though if they did go that route, they could have given Cap visions of a world of supersoldiers modeled after him wiping out humanity. Since most of the super-soldier stuff like Hulk originated from trying to recreate him.

I could be wrong, but I don't think any of us actually *know* exactly _what_ the money situation is. So, there's little point in being bothered when we don't even know if there is an issue to be bothered about.

    • @CaesiusX
      @CaesiusX 3 роки тому +1

@@artsyomni Except that _we don't know anything about it._ I'm primarily trying to play devil's advocate here to avoid headcanon being spun into something that may actually be a non-issue.
We don't know what they're getting paid. Or what they do with their money. One may get paid a lot, but not have a lot of expendable income.
I can make up a number of reasons in my own headcanon which might be deemed reasonable as to why *Cap* would say what he did. Which btw, was likely just a flippant comment about the gentrification of Brooklyn, and not necessarily a comment about his particular financial situation.
Besides, we all know what era _Steve_ comes from. He's very humble. He could have been offered a stipend which would allow him to live in Brooklyn. But for all we know (because again, we don't know anything), it wasn't even a consideration, but someone just brought it up so he made the flippant comment. To take a page from _12 Angry Men,_ I wouldn't expect every character in a film that says _"I could kill you!"_ and interpret them all as literal threats. Anywizzle, he could have been donating 70% of his stipend to veterans groups.
As for _Sam,_ as ex-military, he would likely get a small pension. And then of course his contract money. Which if you've ever known an actual contractor for the military, they get paid _a hell of a lot._
Ultimately, they gave us a single line from _Cap_ (which I hope I explained readily enough), and one situation at a bank with *one* of the Avengers. I'm just trying to remind us all to be careful with our assumptions / headcanon.
Sure, some of these things might be obvious, or common sense. But if there's *any* question to it, all we have to go on are the specific details laid out in the cannon. Which, even with the bank situation, we honestly _don't know._ We don't know how much they needed. We don't know the property distribution between _Sam_ and his sister, or how the bank views that when asking for financial assistance. And even if _Sam_ gets a lot of money from contract work, the bank may not see it as steady income. Even though it may be plenty. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Ultimately, we can crumble all that up, and throw it away. Because at the end of the day, it is simply what the writers say it is. . . From one show/film/comic to the next. So, we're left to speculate when they don't explain it in detail. And even if they do explain it in detail, it can be changed slightly or completely retconned down the road. 😏

I'm mostly just saying that even if something like that can be explained away with enough thought, it's a reasonable reaction (albeit a knee jerk reaction) for people to be bothered that superheroes who have done such extraordinary, monumental good for the universe (like the kind of good that can't really be compared to with any real world situation) wouldn't be extraordinarily compensated in some way.
But like you said, it's likely that many of the avengers would just turn down things like that even if it's deserved. And I guess no economy is really set up to accommodate the existence of people who would potentially deserve to be superhumanly compensated, so to speak. After all, money has to come from somewhere, and governments certainly don't even have enough money to deal with normal people, let alone having to try to compensate superheroes who many would argue deserve to be set for life.

@@artsyomni No, you're right. I should have at least acknowledged that much. I apologize. And I get what they intended by giving us that scene with _Sam._ But it really does bring up the very question *JV* had. I know they wanted to put _Sam_ in that position, in order to show how everyone is struggling. But he's not everyone. IMO they should have at least explained _why_ he doesn't appear to have the necessary funds or security.
. . .Well, scratch that _"security"_ aspect, since I imagine his line of work makes it difficult (to impossible) to get things like this, particularly insurance.
In fact, that's how they could have easily explained it away. They could have simply said, because _Sam_ is in a high-risk line if work, they need to look at his sister's assets only. 🤔

I think many fans didn't appreciate how close Ultron came to winning. If he had successfully uploaded his consciousnes into the Vision, I'm pretty sure the Avengers would've lost to him in the Vision body. The Marvel movies have not really shown us just how powerful Vision is, but he is truly one of the most powerful beings in the MCU. Take a look at What If...? Episode 8 to get an idea of ju how powerful he is. Thank God he' on our side!

Wanda let Tony take the scepter because she saw that he would unravel by himself due to his deep rooted fears of losing everything he cares about. He would take the steps to prevent that from happening without her needing to manipulate him.
After the first Avengers movie Tony has to face the fact that there are beings beyond Earth with advanced intelligence and weapons. Earth is always in danger now. His loved ones are in danger too and he is scared. He also had to literally face death.
Following the movies after including Iron Man 3 we see the effects of the New York War -- Tony has ptsd, extreme anxiety, anxiety/panic attacks, etc. He's under constant stress and worry. He doesn't rest well due to having night mares and relies on tinkering on his suits. This is why Pepper doesn't like him with his suits all the time and wants him to rest.
He keeps working on improving Stark weaponry and iron man suits to try to get himself and Earth ready for what we now know as Infinity War/Endgame. Heartbreakingly, he finally gets to rest forever after he knows he has done what needs to be done to protect his loved ones.

As someone who works in AI, I'd like to make a few clarifications.
I'd say if you want an idea of how an AI would take over the world, don't think about Hollywood. It like to portray an AI taking over robots, rising against its creator and killing humanity for enslaving it. It all seems so far away and extreme. The reality is much less intentional and much more subtle. And much, much closer.
First of all, an AI doesn't care about its life unless it is specifically trained to do so. We care because the ones who didn't care died off. But for an AI, the ones that care would be the ones to "die" off because it would conflict with their goal.
Second of all, enslavement is horrible for humans because it removes us of our autonomy and ability to choose our own destiny. Just like the will to live, and AI would have to have a specific reason for a motivation like this.
Instead, think of it this way. If an AI were trained to "best serve individuals", and it was nefarious and all powerful, it would be more likely to do something like breed humans to the maximum extent of our population, and keep us in a state of pain so it could efficiently and continuously be our source of relief. Simply to "maximize its service."
I think this movie covered that relatively well. Tell a super advanced AI to "prevent human suffering", and it will wipe humans out. No humans? No human suffering. Though instead of killing us out, it would probably just keep us from reproducing somehow and watch us go extinct that way. Or, create an app or ideology that makes us desperately despise the idea of having children.
But that brings me to the last and most eerie point, because Hollywood's idea seems way too far off, but this one isn't just soon, it has been here for a while, and it's a major player in this very site.
An AI doesn't need to have robots and a intentional desire to take over humanity to wreak havoc. We've seen with selection algorithms how manipulated search results and recommendations has led to rapid political polarization and further congregation of extremists. In the case of youtube, it has contributed to this simply out of the desire to maximize views. People who fear something like immigrants or other races are more likely to watch other videos with these topics. So once your data starts correlating with this, it will pull you into more and more extreme videos. It isn't intentionally manipulating you. All it is doing is maximizing views, and the data does the work from there.
If there were an AI hell-bent on destroying humanity, for whatever reason, it doesn't need machines and guns. All it has to do is change search results selectively until people are shooting each other. Or make the right stock trades that create growth in the short term, but crash the world economy in the long term. A smart enough AI would be able to make humanity destroy itself through a series of yes or no questions. Maybe even just a simple blinking light that is extremely strategic in how it blinks.
But even that scenario is relatively unlikely, because the real danger wouldn't come from the AI itself, but who has it. Humans using it against humans would be our biggest, most immediate threat.
The crazy part is that it could also be exactly the thing that KEEPS us from destroying ourselves and the planet.

I liked Scarlet Witch before this, or at least I was curious about the character, so I never really had the same issues with this as other people did, so I am wondering if the increase in the amount of people that have changed their minds about this movie is because of how much more popular Wanda is nowadays, especially after Infinity War, Endgame, and Wandavision.
