This shouldn’t be a ‘warranty’ coverage issue to see if customers get angry or in to accidents, this should go directly to an immediate RECALL. And not just a TSB either😤

That along with it sounds like Ford didn't even offer a temporary vehicle while it was in shop. Horrible look for them.
They won’t ever do that thou unless the government requires them to. Because recalls are only safety related. Unless the engines are locking up the car causing accidents. It prolly won’t be recalled.
I just switched from Ford ... More due to the fact the body starts to rot out in 4 years .
I work at a dealership. We received our first Bronco, what they call a mannikin. It was used as a service loaner to get the word out there and for customers to experience it. The second time it was used, it was towed back with the motor locked up tight. Not a great start. The 2.7 has been used since 2015 in the F150, and its been a fairly good engine, aside for some oil consumption issues, that typically appear within the warranty period, which we replace the cylinder heads due to bad valve guides. But never seen a complete failure in one. Not sure what they changed for the Bronco, but its not good. And of course, its impossible to get parts for anything right now. Its very frustrating for customers. It is for us as well. This kind of mistake is inexcusable. With all the R&D that goes in to these vehicles, its not acceptable for major failures like this to happen. Especially a benchmark like the Bronco.
I avoid any 1st or 2nd year run of any new Ford model.. Each manufacturer has their own issues, but with ford I get the impression that they leap a little further than they should on new models or refreshes. Though... their trucks with that Goliath engine were enticing on release..
I blame the engineering division.

I bought my new Dodge Ram Diesel 2500 new in 2002, ordered it from factory in '01. Did alot of research on the big 3 before I bought the dodge. Can't begin to tell you the number of broken down power jokes and duramax I passed in those early years of owning my truck. The Fords blew alot of rear ends and the chevys had injector, fuel issues. Now have 381k on my Ram, runs better than ever with a minimum of new parts in over 20 years.
This is why you never EVER buy brand new first year models of cars until they've had a few years to iron out the kinks. Everyone got excited for the focus rs as well then it turned out they had catastrophic head gasket issues. When you go out and buy the launch edition of an all new car model you are gambling with a lot of money on the line.
Thier is always going to be that person who will buy it! Has no mechanical knowledge whatsoever!

I kinda agree with the people in the comments. Ford like seen in other comments have said laid off their best engineers for college graduates who have no experience. You’re basically buying a car designed by a 23 year old like me..
The 2.7L Ecoboost is one of their most reliable engines, lol. She just got unlucky. Most the Bronco’s you’re seeing are the ones with the 1.5L Ecoboost.
It's odd that the dealer didn't contact the manufacturer to pay for and arrange a loaner vehicle for while her new warranty vehicle was being repaired although some dealers offer loaner cars for customers like her.

I had a Ford F-150, purchased the extended warranty at a cost of about $4k-$5k if I recall. Transmission went out, had it towed to the nearest dealer. 1) it took them 2 weeks longer to repair than my warranty covered rental, due to “the only guy who could fix it” sustained an injury & was out. I complained, saying they should cover the extra rental - they held to “no” after much back and forth. 2) THEN when I picked up the truck (and the time they were supposed to reimburse me for the rental portion that WAS to be covered), they denied the full rental reimbursement because I had my wife put the rental in her name (my Drivers License was less than 10 days expired when I went to pick up the rental. As I needed it that day for work travel, we just put my wife’s name/license on it). Who says my wife couldn’t have been the one typically driving the truck anyway?!?! 3) I called Ford customer service, they blamed the dealer. I said the dealer has your @$#% name of the giant oval sign, can you not help? They said they’d look into it and I never heard from them again. I started to call back, but instead have bought 5 new (but NOT FORD) vehicles since & will continue to do the same & tell all from here to eternity.

@@jasonwheeler8996 No more Nissan for me for a while either, but I didn’t get as angry with that one. 2014 Pathfinder started having CVT transmission issues just over the 60k warranty mileage… $4,800 to $5,400 estimate to replace (said could not be serviced). I drove it like that for another 60k miles, shaking & shuddering whenever between 5-15 mph, rather smooth otherwise. (Felt like a newby trying to learn to drive a stick-shift. l). Finally gave out & I barely limped it home, confirmed for the 112th time there was no recall (internet was full of horror stories about the same issue for others), and so I sold it for about $3k salvage instead of repair (same internet stories said problem often returned shortly after & was a continual headache. 3 months later I got a notice that there was finally a recall, & they would repair or reimburse for anyone who’d had issues (🤦🏼♂️). No sympathy for anyone who ditched a junk vehicle I guess.
I really want American vehicle companies to do well....and even dominate!!!! This is sad to hear especially when they had 10 years to perfect the ecoboost.

Should hold ford accountable and they should pay the financing bill for how long they have it in service. 50 days without a dealership rental is absurd.
once its at the shop for 30 days you can call ford and request lemon law, once approved you can take the cash option which is a check for 2 months of payments. i did this on my 2020 for rear end problems.
@@joshwentz1202 yes after 30 days they should’ve went with the lemon law, it’s a pretty easy process I did it twice already with a 2019 Honda Pilot and 2020 Honda Passport both times the manufacturer gave me all my finance payments and bought the vehicles back .

@@ACommenterOnUA-cam for new vehicles under warranty they will. Once it hits 30 days in the shop within the first 2 years, depending on state, it is eligible for lemon law. One of the options is a cash pay out of 2 payments. Been there, done that.
Yea I find that odd. I don’t know of any dealers in our area that don’t supply loaners for warranty work.
I worked at a factory that made the shocks and struts for the bronco, they cut every corner possible and shipped out units with bad compression and rebound just to hit production numbers, Ford knowingly receiving them I don’t know but they also supply many other models for them including the F-150, the tolerance levels for their equipment have made my mind up on never getting a Ford.
Not good.
You need to do an anonymous interview to bring attention to this. I’m sure Ford isn’t the only one.

Indeed it was the same thing making parts for Chevy and GM, every corner was cut. Major shadowing on so many of their parts which were spot welded together, and never fit their fixtures properly.
I personally HATE the start/stop feature. I once got rear ended because someone who came behind me (probably on their phone) wasn't paying attention I was stopped waiting to make a left turn and when I tried to punch it to avoid getting rammed from behind the start stop took a second to turn on and push the car forward and by then got rammed. Had it not been that stupid feature, I would have avoided getting slammed from behind. Thankfully it wasn't too bad cause I was already moving when the vehicle was braking.

You can have it manually removed by going to a mechanic and have them turn the feature off or just manually turn it off with your infotainment screen every time you start the car either way people dont know it actually wheres your engine out 10 times faster imagine being in nyc your going through atleast 20 start stops if your in stop and go traffic

Not a new car buyer. Too poor. Wouldn't do it nowadays if I could. So many ridiculous ideas like "stop start" I am reluctant to use the word innovation. The auto high beam dimmer is another. It also dims the high beams if there's a spot light on someone's garage say. I rented a van with this mistake. Why do these auto makers think we can't, or find it annoying to dim high beams when we seem necessary? Oh what a hardship. I like the looks of the new Bronco, but it copies the lines of a Land Rover Disco.
Cheaper option to turn it off is thru Fordscan. I turned my off with it takes 2-3 minutes. Also activate many more hidden features.

That's why my Corolla Hatchback XSE with a 6mt is a 2022 model year, and not the 2019, 2020 model year. Toyotas are some of the most solid, most reliable cars ever built, but Toyota is still a company ran by humans, and humans are prone to making mistakes.

75000 Broncos sold in first year 46 with bad motors, that is 0.0006% chance of it happening. Of course in the news you will only here about the ones that do, not the ones that don't. I have a Badlands edition Bronco 10k miles on it and no issue whatsoever. My friend who just bought a new Ram 1500 has it die on her while she drives it...computer just turns off, they have replaced it multiple times...problem still exists. SO no matter what vehicle you buy, you have a chance of getting a bad one.
That 2 7 has been out for a long time. Solid proven engine 👌

They gave the lady a new engine, but the question is really whether or not they fixed the manufacturing issue that led to the engine blowing up in the first place. So, this lady should definitely be concerned that her engine will blow up again.
@@prodigy3xtc389 lol not exactly. Our 2019 camry vented the block after 3 miles of driving it off the lot. We got to check out the window it created in the block at the dealer when the rod said see yea. Toyota flew a engineer out to our town and he inspected it and wanted to send the car back to the plant to further diagnose it and wanted that car back from us and toyota paid us out of it and then sent us the exact same car brand new again right off the delivery truck and we got to unwrap it and all. Quite an experience for a toyota to say the lease. One reason we got the camry was because our 2018 toyota tacoma trd was having a lot of issues and trans issues and just not enough truck for us at all with its under powered v6 and small size cab and no rear air ect ect.... "we eventually got a f250 and that fixed everything in the truck department for us no doubt lol". And then that happened right from the start we were really worried with the toyota quality at that point. But we have had the camry now for a few years and it's been absolutely amazing and comfortable and a work horse for us. Reliable great mpg car. Only thing about the car we don't like is the 19" wheels. Not enough tire for the 19" wheel. Pretty much every pot hole bends the rim and then we to have them repaired. 3 times now on three different rims. Not a deal breaker but in waste land cali where we live where supposedly our tax dollars are supposed to pay to fix the roads there is a pothole every 5 feet. But Gavin and his friends pockets just keep getting filled while our roads just get worse year after year. And our fords have been nothing but reliable and great even with all the abuse it takes "especially my mustang". But i'm not a fan of eco turds what so ever. Can't stand those little motors being pushed to the limits to try and compete with a n/a v8. I have the gen 2 yote in my 16 gt "the best of the 5.0's" and of coarse the 6.7 power stroke in our 17 f250 and is just an absolute animal in the truck and my car is just a fun toy but a very reliable one. But every single person i know with a eco turd 6 banger and even some eco turd 4 bangers have had nothing but issues with them. The bronco no doubt should of had a 5.0 option. But ford is trying to force it's buyers to get into the smaller eco trud motors like the pathetic gen 2 and 3 raptors that sounds like a honda civic with a fart cannon exhaust from the factory. If you have the money for a 50-60k plus truck then you should have the money for the fuel it desires. If not you shouldn't be buying a full size luxury truck in the first place. Simple as that.
@@prodigy3xtc389 I love Toyota, I drive a Tacoma. However we just traded my wife's 2016 Rav4 because we weren't so lucky with it. The torque converter was going out in it at only 80k miles and the cheapest estimate to fix it we got was $4,500. To make things worse, the 2013-15 model Rav4 was recalled due to a faulty torque converter but the 2016 was not covered in that recall despite the mechanics saying they still see this issue pretty often in the newer models as well.
They should also ditch that stop-start feature. Just not been proven to save gas and if anything it may use extra gas simply because the car has to restart itself. Plus it puts extra wear on the starter and the battery.
I think that can be turned off, my friend at work with f150 turned it off.

Actually Engineering Explained has a great video on this, proving it does save gas (though the savings are marginal), and the starter motor is engineered to last longer than normal starters. I still think they are pretty dumb, but they do work, technically.
They are motor generators, not starters. They actually restart the vehicle through the engine pulley system and provide powerful torque addition.
Anyone who works or has worked at a Ford dealership for a long time has seen manufacturing issues steadily increase. Constantly there are 2 and 3 recalls issued for vehicles that haven't even been dropped off by transport. The DPS6 Focus transmission was a nightmare. Engineers within that division pointed out problems but the flawed design still saved money and those dissenting engineers left or were canned. There was a massive housecleaning of senior executives at all levels. The bigger salary people with the most experience "retired" or were persuaded to leave the company in favor of college grads and their substantially lower salaries. They are, for the most part clueless, and instead Ford employs more bean counters than actual automotive personnel with real world experience. On the warranty side, Ford will find any excuse to not pay a dealer for repair work. It's definitely profit over product. But, I imagine it is similar with all auto manufacturers. Sign of the times.

These times are not about service and making a consumer happy/satisfied any more it’s all about what’s the least amount of effort i can put into my product that will still have it sell legally. Which is devilish and evil when you think about it but i have to also put the blame on the people out here doing car payments and settling for anything these people make nowadays. Old man Scotty always says "They literally don’t make them how they use to" and I’m only 21 i wasn’t able to drive until 2018 i can tell you right now if i was a teen or grown up back in the early 2000s and late 90s i would’ve grabbed every good car i could’ve and been preserving them for now. Well…Ik I can’t say that for sure because we can’t tell the future but I’m pretty sure somebody had that idea back in the day… its just a little unfortunate my family members didn’t lol.
@@curtilow79 Have had my 2000 Ranger for around 15yrs & can confirm. The 90's & early 2000 was the golden age of the automotive industry. Unfortunately by the time people started figuring that out, the damage & wear had already been done. Some of the most reliable vehicles of all time like the crown vic, the econoline, & the Ranger (not the new 1) were some of the most abused, most affordable, highest quality receiving very few updates increasing the quality of working out the kinks over the years. In that time period, Ford had a solid line up (minus a few vehicles such as their horrendous minivans), Hondas hatches were extremely reliable, the best & most reliable camry yet was made in those years with the best years of the Tacoma (minus some rusty frames). Hell, even chevys pickups & suvs were pretty decent, while even though dodge was still pretty crappy, they had the cummins engine available over the fiat diesel they later replaced it with.
It was the goldy lox zone of the automotive industry as there was just enough innovation for cars to be comfortable, affordable, reliable (suspension & steering, a/c, radio, & cruise control), but not this conglomerate of a car mixed with a super computer & all of these electronics that fail in time & when they fail, it tends to be very expensive.
There are several factors that has contributed to what we have today. 1 of which is increasingly tightening federal regulations on the automotive industry. Aka, yesterdays cars can't legally be built today. The 2009 cash for clunkers program didn't help either. As the government took taxpayer money to pay (what was perceived above market value at the time) people for trading in their older vehicle & get them into a newer vehicle. Saw a documentary on it & it was some ridiculous number like 40%+ of those new vehicles ended up getting repossessed because people couldn't afford them. So the program got many people out of a perfectly good older vehicle, used tax payer dollars as a subsidy to encourage broke people to buy a vehicle above their means, & the cherry on top is the government took all of those old vehicles & destroyed them. #GovernmentLogic
That DPS6 was the worst transmission I’ve ever seen, every single focus or fiesta with the the dual clutch I’ve seen slip from 2nd to 3rd hard, every single one. Although that 2.0 ford engine is quite bulletproof
My 2010 Crown Vic runs & looks like it is brand new a great car. My Ford Focus = pure nightmare the transmission suffers complete fail at least once/year & with the supply chain shortages it sits waiting for parts on the dealer lot for 6months/year. But to Ford's credit they cover the cost of a car rental.
Family member has a 2017 escape with the 2.0 ecoboost needed a new engine at 45,000 miles due to coolant intrusion in the cylinders. I used to be a ford guy through and through but their quality has really got me second guessing these past few years...I'm thinking of going with Toyota next.
Toyota all the way. Although they have slipped a lot from their pinnacle of reliability in the 90's. Same with Honda.
I think the Bronco was offended that it was being taken grocery shopping and protested by self destructing.

This is what you get when you take a small engine, turbocharge the hell out of it, expect it to do the work of a V8, change out as many metal parts under the hood for plastic all in hopes to meet an unreasonable fuel mileage requirement.
I feel like a broken record reporting this exact same formula to my friends all the time. We’re losing reliability in exchange for efficiency when downsizing and simplifying vehicle needs for everyday drivers would honestly give better and consistent results. Not every soccer mom needs a 18 foot navigator or suburban and Bob in accounting does not need a f250 king ranch for a daily driver

I had the 2.7 in my '16 f150. Turbo's were leaking oil before 50k miles needing replacement, oil consumption issues, Sync system bricked, truck went into limp mode backing out of my garage. Got rid of the POS, never buying Ford again.

This vehicle also had ongoing issues with its removable top leaking to no end. This push for lightest plastic materials, small displacement turbo motors to save a few mpg has significantly cost the consumer reliability. It’s really a shame

@@BUEAU The turbos they throw in these cars have no purpose other than changing the estimated EPA range by 2-3 mpg giving the company more "points". Car companies currently need to maintain a MPG average of above a certain number of all their current models combined ( unsure of what it is now) or they get heavily fined by the EPA or their countries equivalent. So what do car companies do to fix these numbers. They throw in a low pressure turbo to boost mpg barely all while touting some name like ECOBOOST etc. These turbos dont make your car any faster they really dont do jackshit for your MPG because no ones driving them like the way they are tested but they DRASTICALLY REDUCE reliability. All in the name of making the cut because most car manufacters are hanging on a thin line. Take volkswagon they released a EV that will only sell 1000 units. This car is only made to boost their overall fleet MPG to achieve satisfactory results end of year to show to the epa etc it isnt made for any other reason than to fix those numbers.
Also mazda and toyota have figured out a way to compress the engine like a low pressure turbo without adding a turbo into the engine thus giving you the same benefits as having one ( better highway takeover speed) without reducing reliability and adding a whole component cars didnt have before to break.

Also, the manufacturer knows you won't be driving their cars fast, that's why they design and tune their turbochargers to spool up quicky at low RPMs.
@@TR33ZY_CRTM turbo chargers are not new technology nor are they the future nor am I opposed to change. The real future is EVs my 1992 SAAB 9-3 came with a turbo that would make a eco boost turbo look like a peanut.
Also they all have turbo lag. That really negates the whole get up to speed spool fast ideology equivalent of a vtec owner telling me it’ll kick it just watch turbos lmao. That was a promising tech too and now it’s gone for a reason.
When I first saw that engine I was blown away by all the vacuum lines and everything is just being exposed on the engine that thing has more vacuum lines and the wires running all over the engine more than a 1979 Cadillac Devill
I have an '87 Toyota Corolla engine and a '77 Continental with the 460 V8 in it and they don't even have that much of a mess of vacuum lines and hoses and wires everywhere!

My wife’s 2021 Bronco Sport just died out today it was pushed off the roadway I jumped it and drove it home. Not starting now
I have had the same Toyota Scion TC for 12 years. Replaced 2 batteries, 1 coil pack, and an alternator. I am not sure how this car has not died as I drive the piss out of it. Extremely hard redlined max out at 130mph. It just keeps going. 200k on it. Was truly made in Japan and I think that has a lot to do with the quality and reliability.

You just can't compare these two cars. 2.7l V6 twin turbo and no turbo inline 4. Engine in bronco is much more complex and it gives out so much more power and torque that it can dust your scion mid throttle.
Mine has only needed replacement of normal wear items and the headlamp bulbs.
Toyota and Lexus most reliable vehicle in the world.
5.0 engine issues, transmission issues, trim that pops off while still on the dealership floor, Focus and Fiesta issues, after years and years of following major class action lawsuits against Ford I can only conclude that they are actively engineering their vehicles to fail. @@melvin5818 No it's not just that there is no engine cover it's Ford's love for 5 miles worth of coolant hoses and tubes. Any EcoBoost engine pretty much is a nightmare to take apart and put back together. I am a certified Ford tech and trust me, those 2.7 liter bronco engines are about a disaster to deal with.

I have a 2016 F165 (F150 with the 2.7 ecoboost 165 cuin v6) with 84k miles. I've only had to replace one $20 temp sensor.
Even Toyota messed up with the new Tundras.

It's sad to hear this because the 2.7 has been one of Ford's most reliable engines since it was introduced in 2015. I would not touch the 3 cylinder in the Bronco or the Escape though. I test drove an Escape and smelled oil burning during the test drive.
The 1.5 dragon is the 3 cylinder. Had a 2.7 Bronco at the dealership I work for that came in with a leaking quick drain plug and front pinion seal. The engine had 6k miles on it and it leaked from day one. I inspected the drain plug O-ring and drain pan, and found nothing. Figured a piece of dirt or something got on the O-ring causing it not to seal properly.
They fixed the issue with the Dragon motor. The 2.7 is bulletproof in the F-150, wonder what the issue is here.
@@NoahDoane Reports are saying improperly heat treated valves causing a dropped valve which ends up smacked by the piston (ie catastrophic failure). My guess during the shortages the valve was moved to another supplier with poor quality. This can hapen without ford even knowing. Suppliers do that crap all the time to pinch pennies. The F150 engines may have had the previous suppliers parts. I think it was Uncle Tonys Garage channel that mentions terrible metal quality coming from chinese made automotive parts in the last year or two causing cams and such to be rubbish. Its widespread in the auto parts suppliers right now.

He has been stagnating ever since throttle body injection was cutting edge, AFR sensors were the bomb, and variable displacement AC compressors were the bee's knees. Listening to him and following his advice is like going to a surgeon who yanks out the tonsils of young children left and right via sharp dissection with a soft tissue margin, thinks a complete hysterectomy is the best solution for a woman who doesn't want kids anymore, and just chops off both of a woman's breasts in entirety with no effort to spare the nipple or do a targeted lumpectomy to save structures for future implants. It's just ridiculous. Why go to that surgeon when a newly graduated surgeon has a steady hand, the latest info from clinical trials and residency, and can treat those aforementioned issues in ways that give the patient a much better experience and outcome? 🤷🏻♂️ Wanna see GOOD technicians diag and repair vehicles? FoMoCo has had a 70 year history of letting their customers test and re-engineer their cars.
Probably a good idea to avoid vehicles years 2021-the foreseeable future. In an effort to keep up with supply chain issues manufacturers are pumping these things out haphazardly. We are seeing/going to see a lot of new cars with catastrophic failures early in their lives.

Having owned many Ford trucks they are for the most part fairly reliable, my biggest problem with Ford is they always release vehicles with something wrong weather it's major or minor, then they pass the problem on to the consumer at their cost knowing they released a defective product.

I want to contribute my story with Furd motor company. Though I didn’t have a blowing bronco I still had a bad experience. I drove to a ford dealer about 45 minutes from my house to plunk down an order for a 2021 ranger 4x2 XL. I skipped the 4wd and the quad cab and ordered a pretty basic ranger. I find out that when they picked up my order the dealer had added 4wd which I was adamant about not wanting ( it added 5k to my price and obliterated my budget). As opposed to just giving me the truck for the price we had agreed on they had to resubmit my order which pushed me out of the 2021 window. This was going to force me to wait till 2022. Then the bronco top problem got sorted out and they chose to push ranger customers back. 2022 production started on December 15th, I heard nothing, a month later the dealer had no idea when I was getting it and ford had no idea, I was told by folks I knew that I was looking at 6 months to a year. I got fed up and I canceled the order, found a Toyota Tacoma locally which wasn’t exactly what I wanted but it was there for the buying. Now with all the bronco problems I’m glad I bailed on the ranger cause god knows when I would have finally gotten if

This is why I drive the much older Ford Crown Victoria. Back when Ford was designing vehicles to last a while and be reliable. Most of the new stuff out there is designed to fail to keep you buying something else every 4 or 5 yrs at the most.

I'm factory certified for multiple brands, including Ford/Lincoln. I'm currently working for Ford, as well. No other brand does what Ford does. The designs our engineers come up with is absolutely stunning. A little kid would make better choices. My friends that work for other brands don't believe me when I tell them what Ford does.

Dealers don't rent cars for people, Ford does. The dealer didn't make the car, so its not their responsibility. But you're right. Its not uncommon to have a customer in a rental car for over 6 months. I suspect they just ran out of cars. It happens all the time, and Ford will only pay for a rental if its a Ford product. If the rental company only has a Chevy available, Ford won't pay. Its has to be one of our cars.

The dealerships I’ve worked at have all either provided cars off the lot as loaners, had cars set aside and stickered up for the maintenance department to give out as loaners, or reimbursed customers for a rental car when their car needed to be worked on for more than 24 hours. Just my experience, but I can personally confirm that every legitimate dealership I’m aware of does in fact provide loaners and compensate rentals.

I had the same problem with a car from Germany. The ultimate driving machine. They had to replace the connecting rod bearings because the installed ones were too thick. I found out about this and had to drive it like that for 6 months waiting for the engine to lock up. They did replace the bearings and I ran the s*it out of it and the engine never failed. What does this have to do with this? Manufactures are really assemblers. Most of the parts are outsourced. My next door neighbor worked for a company that supplied bearings to various manufactures.

Can't throw the Mustang Mach-E into that equation in my opinion. Traditionalists may not like that Ford used the Mustang name on a crossover EV but the Mach-E has proven to be a huge success and a sales hit, likely due in large part to its name.

Same thing happened to me with my brand new Bronco sport. Engine died at 1,000 miles it was in the shop for 2 months and rental car was at my own expense. It cost me over 1k and no apologies from ford. I’m pretty much in the do not buy camp. luckily it’s a lease vehicle so I’ll be rid of it in another couple years.

Yep, Ford is really burning their bridges. I will never buy another after my 2020 Fusion 1.5 blew up. New cars should not blow up like this in mass quantities, then again it is the Ford way of doing things. Ford's Ecoboost engines are trash. Some people get tons of miles, it seems like most don't. With that being said, why would I want to take this risk again? It was definitely a one time experience.
Why people call it yours when it’s a lease just say “my lease” people who lease are at the bottom of the food chain I have a Ram 2003 and it was at the shop for 1 month i got a borrowed car from them unlimited miles I put 1100 on that jeep lol. My STI was at the dealership for a new engine I got a borrowed car from them too 3 weeks no rental or out of my pocket. My friends wrx had to be at the dealer for 1 week He had to get a rental he ask for a loaner car but couldn’t so there goes $600 for him.

I am not a fan of the auto start/stop system especially during winters here in Canada. Also, I think it will put a stress to your battery and starter system in the long run.

Take a job at a Ford dealership and you will get first hand experience with just how horrible their factory quality control really. They have had the same damn kinds of issues in almost EVERY engine that they make. 1.5L engines for blown headgaskets, 2.0 for blown headgaskets, 2.7 for all kinds of cam phaser issues, every version of the 3.5L for cam phaser issues, 5.0 for also cam phaser issues and so on and so forth. They even issue recalls for vehicles BEFORE THEY ARE MADE. You read that correctly.

I was extremely excited that Ford was bringing back the Bronco until I saw the engine and transmission options. I’ll never buy one until they offer a 5.0 coyote with a manual transmission. Absolutely asinine that they have these parts on the shelf and won’t built it.
I hope they find a manual transmission that's worth a dollar before they offer it because their current 6 speed manual transmission has more issues than a 5.4 triton lol, 90% of 2018 and up Mustang GT's have been recalled for synchronizers failures and granading transmissions

When I saw under the hood I was shocked. It is a mess with wires everywhere.I have never seen a Ford engine with so much crap attached to it.I would have never thought that they would do something like.It is a sloppy mess and you would think that they would have made a cover.
Another issue is Turbos on the EcoBoost on all models. The Turbos are mounted right next to engine block, without heat shield 🛡 or insulation blanket. Thermo expansion on the block occurs usually on Cylinder 3, to cause low compression.
End result new engine after 2 months, and keep in mind only 1 months paid for Rental
That's insane smh atleast jeep puts a heat shield on the 2.0 turbo I haven't ran into too any common issues with those coming in yet. Not looking forward to the hurricane engine but our new grand cherokees and wagoner's are rolling garbage cans
Man I knew it because I had the same issue with my 2014 Ford escape eco-boost. Before that I had to replace the engine coolant bypass valve and about three months later the turbo charger was going bad so we had to appraise the vehicle and get another vehicle.

If they're supposed to be showing off the engine, you can't hardly see it even without all the plastic engine covers. Kind of like cable management and computers, people don't typically like looking at wads of cabling and hoses haphazardly shoved into a small space, or even the appearance thereof. How much of that rats nest has to come off to change the spark plugs? Water pump? Alternator? Starter?
No, not so much an EPA issue, but poor engineering from the manufacturer. Pop the hood on a modern Japanese or Korean car, and you won’t find a bunch of vacume lines or “oh yea, we forgot about this” brackets everywhere.

My stepdad owned a bronco ll and my uncle owned a Bronco, unlike the maverick which I fell in love with at first sight, I slowly learned to love both the bronco and the bronco ll over a long period of time, coming to understand the series as an incredible and underrated workhorse.
When I saw the new bronco my heart sank because I knew it would be just another thunderbird.
Please don't bring back the maverick.

All these small displacement turbocharged engines are going to wind up with half the lifespan of normally aspirated (not turbocharged) engines and require rigid adherence to maintenance schedules to get even that. Ford does make an excellent well proven and reliable hybrid system used in their Maverick and Escape, similar to the one they used in the Lincoln MKZ and Fusion for most of a decade. They really don't have much else now.
For me I'll stick to NA.
Exactly right. Look at the ecoboost or ecopop, so called, because they blow up. Small engines with a turbo are garbage. Look at the new Fiesta ST 3 cylinder 1.5 turbo, overstressed. The best Fiesta ST was the first gen, 2 litre naturally aspirated.
I have a f150 2.7 ecoboost with ZERO issues at 200k miles. Wasn’t a believer till I owned one. Very impressed. Of course maintenance is key like with any car/truck.…..👍🏻
I believe the Maverick hybrid system is based on or similar to the Toyota Prius system..so its probably good.
Honda and Toyota can do it. Why not Ford? Honda had some problems with the early 1.5T's but these days they regularly go 200,000 miles with normal maintenance. I swore off Ford after they sold me a lemon F150. With all the reported problems, I've not been back.
my grandpa (mechanic) always said. avoid these larger vehicles with the tiny engines. too much weight for such little power. Ive always stuck to the larger engines, if they offered the v8 I would take that without hesitation. Never had any issues... the one time i had a 2.2 l ecotech it failed ...
I was looking into a diesel swap for my ford ranger and i found this older mazda 2.2l diesel engine that had like 295ftlbs of torque. I forgot the HP but i bet it would put these Bronco engines to shame.

@@jpmking9635 You can technically put the same 3.2L Diesel from the transit. Apparently they sold Ranger with this engine in Europe, but didn't do so in the US (PS: for new rangers)
Your grandpa's logic doesn't really hold any water. These "tiny" turbo engines produce more power & torque than V6 or even V8 engines did decades ago. Complexity and turbocharging is why they fail, not because of power-to-weight ratios.

Ford has dropped the ball on the release of the new bronco. From dealerships causing heartbreak and fraud due to the hidden markups to Ford having supplier issues and having many issues with the vehicles themselves. Hopefully they sort these out in the next year. I ended up getting a Jeep wrangler 2Dr Rubicon and have no regrets.

I fell in love with the Ford Ranger Trekker that introduced me into 4x4 Fanaticism and planned to buy used one in the future, my father said he drove it and it's a piece of crap, their turbo in the diesel engine blew up, and sometimes dies on road
We owned a Ford Lynx Ghia back in 2004 and it was love at first sight because of sunroof, however the mechanics screw the car and gave us back the sedan, it had engine problems and dies when in middle of the road, owned until 2008 now their parts are rare depending on chop chop parts
Last 2012 we borrowed a 2012 Focus titanium from a resigned employee, said the transmission is crap, they want the company to pay 700 K pesos for a transmission, that amount of money I can buy new car, instead they did not and stole their parts only to pay 10K Pesos
And lastly, one mechanic from Ford in the comment section admitted that they take some parts from another Customer's car to replace the other car's parts.
After all of experiences for owning a American brand, we sold the Chevrolet Captiva as well
My deep love for Ford went from unconditional to despair and disgust because of these Factors
1. Parts scam to Save Money
2. Lack of customer loyalty
3. All Focused on Profit rather than quality
4. Disposable because they no longer cared if discontinued
A lot of people I know are having problems with their newer model vehicles, and like to tease me for driving a 1994 Camry but the irony is my car has been through several owners, has a bazillion miles on it, and has still been going strong for 27 years with no major issues. I don’t think it’s a brand specific issue I think a lot of car companies are just producing cheaper quality vehicles all across the board, same goes for a lot of newer appliances. I think what it is, is that fact that they don’t want people having things anymore that can last damn near an eternity like the older stuff did.
Same. I've been maintaining our '94 family Accord since dad gave it to me. Did some catch up repairs, but no major headaches. It's also a manual so hopefully there will be no nasty tranny issues or if there are some, it'd cost a penny or so. In my country, only base variants are sold with manual transmissions. Honda doesn't even make a manual option here unless it's the Type R or some horrid eco box car. All of the new cars here have nasty CVTs, and my God if they break pretty sure it'd cost half the value of the car.
I'm holding on to this Accord for as long as I can get parts for it. 😩
I've just bought two Jeeps liberties. 2004 and 2007. Minimal electronics. One petrol and one diesel. While I would love a new Isuzu Mux or DMax, or Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, I'll stick with the older vehicles for now. But I would never touch a Ford or GM product.

@@Mikey.5000 EPA requirements for fuel mileage is probably reason they did not use a 5.0. Too bad. V8s much more fun. I had luck with 4.6L V8s I have owned in my mustangs 1998 GT and 2006 GT.
My 5.0 Bronco has 170 thousand on the clock. Strong as hell. 1990. Worth 3 times its original price. As well my 77 Dodge Powerwagon. The new car scam is epic.

Multiple issues with this before getting to the current engine issues as follows:
1.) Over priced and over rated.
2.) FORD as well as many other manufacturers need to re-learn that vehicles do not need all the crappy non-needed/non-functionl/no purpose "whiz bang-elctronic goo" on everything such as needing a chip to turn your headlights or windshield wiper on? Subscriptions for your heat seats? Garbage!
Start-Stop garbage is another current joke as wait until it is not covered under warranty and you need to replace the starter on one these? No issue pushing that well past $1,000 in repair bills - NONE.
3.) Directly related to the engine - try putting in a normal correctly sized motor that can power the vehicle "as is" and not turbo charge anythng as turbo charge should be an add on and the owner needs to know that it cuts the overall lifetime of the motor down considerably - especially when the size of the motor as a stand alone is smaller than what is in most Garden/Sub-Compact Tractors.
4.) The electronic how many speeds forward/backward transmission are another joke. If serious - get a manual transmission.
Anyone dumb enough to buy one of these and pay the highly inflated prices the dealers are asking for them - no feelings of sorrow in the least!

It's starting to seem like a lot of these new vehicles are having more and more issues right off the assembly line. One of my co-workers who bought a '21 Silverado has had to take it into the dealer 3-4 times now for engine issues, one of the times having to have all of the lifters replaced due to a faulty batch being installed. Another co-worker who has a '22 Audi A7 has been having issues with various electrical components so far, the biggest issue being a faulty active rear spoiler that is getting stuck open. Stuff like that should be unacceptable on vehicles that are literally only a year old, with less than 10k miles.
I also have a co worker who bought a 2022 Ford Maverick and the engine blew up in just 5 months.
Well when you want complicated engines that are way too small for the vehicle they are in with cylinders that shut off and high amounts of boost to make up for the lack of naturally aspirated power this is what you get.

this has absolutely nothing to do with that. For the 2.7 ford had to switch suppliers for their valves and in return they got a pile of valves that were junk and likely didn't go through any sort of quality control or something of that nature. Its a supply chain issue, and its only going to get worse.

First off you have no clue as to what your talking about. 2.7l eco has 275 hp. The original bronco had 140hp which one is overworked? The 2.7l does not have the cd feature. I actually have a Bronco and can make a relevant point.

As a diesel mechanic I work on enough ford's I know NOT to buy one.
As a Mobile technical services Ford and Lincoln exclusively, not a single diesel technician that I encounter owns a Ford diesel truck. The only one that owns a diesel Ford has done a Cummins swap... People flock to the junk, can't understand why but spread the word

I have a Jeep Cherokee with 200,000 miles on it... it’s 24 years old and has been all over the country. Can’t tell you how many new cars I’ve seen broke down on the interstates.

@@lungulet I am a Ford tech. The EcoBoost engines have never been any good ever since they were introduced. None of them. The 1.0, 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, and ESPECIALLY the 3.5. The 2.7 and 2.3 have been the only two that are even remotely any good and the 2.7 leaks and burns oil all the time. I have seen a few 2.3 liter engines with turbo issues.
The problem started when they cut corners on all the internal parts as much as possible to save $$$, then management loves the savings and makes the engineers repeat until the parts are too small or weak to handle normal wear and tear and start to break before the warranty runs out. Now, since they cut corners so bad, they don't want to invest more $$$ to raise the quality and it just repeats. The japanese are going to be the only car manufacturers left in this country.
I only buy Toyota's. All other car companies suck.
Article doesn't tell us anything about what is actually happening with the engine. Is it a fuel system problem (they said something about a valve), is it truly an internal engine problem, i.e., the crankshaft is seizing up, or...?
I drive a 2013 F-150 with the 3.7 NA V6 and I’ve had zero issues other than the well known water pump and a fuel pump fuse relocation issue. 180,000 miles and counting. Changed spark plugs and that’s it. Of course oil changes every 5,000 miles. Get a naturally aspirated engine. They are the ones that last.
Ford EcoBoost vehicles fit under the category of (Found On Road Dead).
I have friends with the 5.0. One had their F-150 lemon lawed. His brother's 5.0 wont start after you tow a trailer with it because it overheats. lol. My 3.5 eco has been better than both and it's still unreliable.

I've been a loyal Ford buyer for decades, however when I first heard of the ecoboost powertrains and only a v6 available in the Expeditions and Navigators, I knew I'd never purchase one of those again.
The ecoboost aren’t the issue, the raptor ecoboost at least isn’t. Though I agree a v6 is nowhere near stout enough for a full size suv or truck

Just had the engine in my 2019 Escape replaced due to coolant intrusion on cylinder 4 after only 50000 km (approx. 30000 miles). Going electric next but not with Ford.

If an engine has a failure, it's almost always while it's being driven, being parked or in idle doesn't put much stress on an engine so it's likely to die while moving. Having to coast to a stop and pull over is not some new hazard of driving, cars break sometimes, it's a thing that happens, it's why cars have hazard lights. Also this is why you don't buy the first year model, instead wait a couple years to see how they hold up before dropping 80 grand on something with zero real world testing.

2.7 engine had valve problems when it first came out years ago in the f150 also 1.5 and 2.0 eco boost engines fail daily
Only certain things can lock up an engine completely and valves slamming into the Pistons can do it
It’s no different with Chevrolet. AFM and valve issues causing engine failure over there too.

Ok just half of your engine if your lucky. Both my GMC 5.3 and my Ram hemi both have had lifter and cam failure.
My GM 2012 started failure afm at 200,000 miles and still making noise but I will just drive until it breaks
Companies are just overbuilding these engines and rushing them to production to sell a vehicle. Some of these sensors and electronics are causing a lot of problems and are even bought from other companies to apply to their engines.
Hmmm. Never had this issue with my 2000 Silverado. Now it only has 230,000 miles on the original engine. I should look out for this issue.
Ford doesn't test drive their vehicles before releasing them to the public. I have a 2021 Ford Explorer HYBRID, that has been in the shop for 6 months now. I was able to get it from 20 miles brand new to 880 miles. $50,000 to get around 800 miles, way to go Ford, really not good work!
