I have a similar story. This was with my second child. I was playing with my son and bent down and felt a pop. Within 5 minutes I knew we had to get to the hospital. The hospital was 25 minutes from our house. In the car the contractions were on top of each other and super painful. In all the craziness we pulled up to the wrong entrance and my husband wouldn't leave the car. I walked in and didn't make it far until I couldn't walk anymore. Luckily their was an employee who quickly grabbed a wheelchair. She very quickly got me to labor and delivery but it was about 3 minutes from where we were. In the elevator I knew her head was out. Once we got in the room I said I need to get my pants off. Once they pulled my pants off and got me into the bed she was out to her shoulders. The nurse pulled her our and said this was the first time she had delivered a baby herself. I completely understand the crazy urge to push. Precipitous labor is no joke, it's fast and furious.
I’m so glad you shared about the feeling of, “I don’t know you”. I had my daughter in October and no one had ever told me that that was a normal feeling to have. So for the first week or so I felt like the worst mom in the world! Then I finally talked with my sister about it and she told me she had that too and it passes. I’ve never heard anyone talk about it on UA-cam. So, thank you for sharing!!
I completely resonate with it, took me about a month to feel the sense of connection, and it makes total sense because 9 months you weren't able to physically see, hold and know the little one . Thank you for sharing, I hope you share more motherhood content💕
I've always immediately fallen in love with my babies, but there is still that you are a complete stranger to me feeling. If you realize it and embrace it it gives you the opportunity to look with wonder and awe at this little human being that you get a chance to know, while they do the same with you.
I had the same feeling. It was "I love you like I love something precious I need to care for. But I don't know you yet." That relational love took a couple months.
Emily!!! Thank you for sharing your story with us! I am a retired OB nurse and after attending a birth like yours with Norman, we would have celebrated you with, " What a Woman!!!" and sung your praises for the rest of your stay! You are so blessed with your two beautiful boys! ❤
I'm 20 weeks along and I'm glad you mentioned that you feel like you don't know your babies when you first meet them, I just feel like that's super realistic and its comforting to know if I feel that with my baby I'm not the only one. Thanks for this
That feeling of " who are you?" is what I was feeling, it soon went away. Thank You, your Baby is so adorable with big blue eyes. My Children now are all grown up with kids of their own. ♥️
Oh my gosh!! So shocking and something you will never forget! I had the “I don’t know you” feeling too and I think for many people bonding is a very long process and isn't immediate at all!! That’s part of the beauty and part of the challenge. Loved this so much!!
Thank you Emily for this delightful post! I just love your sense of humor and your honesty. My oldest daughter is expecting her first child anytime now, her due date was yesterday, so we're getting excited! I had a very similar experience with the birth of my second child as yours with Norman. Contractions came on fast and strong, water broke at home, and the ride to the hospital was unbearable with the urge to push!!! He was born 6 minutes after we got there and was delivered by an emergency room doctor! Thank you again for your story, you and your family are adorable!
My situation was almost exactly the same with my 3rd daughter. I started having painful contractions and decided we better leave to go to the hospital because my previous 2 labors were 4 hours and 2 hours. We got to the hospital at 10:08pm and I was holding her at 10:37pm!! Craziness!! I never once made it to a birthing suite or got and epidural! I’m personally glad things happened the way they did because I wouldn’t want to labor for hours and hours. However, I see these wonderful birthing stories where they’re in a beautiful birthing suite and they’ve had the epidural and they’re laughing and talking or sleeping through it all and it’s so calm lol Thanks for sharing! 😊
Love this!! What a beautiful birth story. This is similar to my second except we didn’t make it to the hospital he was born at home 😊 I had a one hour labor as well, I didn’t know I was in labor. No painful contractions until my water broke. Then I had to push!! Praise God for his grace on our babies. Congrats!
Oh dude. You’re a warrior. My 3rd labor was 2.5 hours long and I thought THAT was fast. You put your first thoughts as Norman’s mom so eloquently too… I’ll be more brisk about mine… 😅 With what I thought was a very fast labor (compared to my two others), I was not prepared for my first thoughts once baby came. I did not want to hold him at first. I actually struggled with like an anger in my shock/feeling very overwhelmed and asked my husband to take him for a bit before I did. I got a gushing nosebleed during the crowning phase and my eyes and face were totally blood shot from the impossible energy I put in getting the rest of his body out. I was amazed at my strength but overwhelmed at how quickly it all happened. I was in transition in the car same as you, and then at a 10 within about a half an hour and pushed him out in two tries. So, thank you for being honest. It is VERY normal to feel that way. Fast labor is FREAKIN NUTS.
Wow this sounded almost exactly like my labour with my third! Mine was a bit longer, but I went from 5cm (when I arrived at the hospital) to baby born all in 20 mins.... and totally had the exact same experience with the stitches- it was so painful. Thanks for sharing! I love these kind of birth stories :)
I had the same feeling after I had my baby.. “Who are you? I don’t know this little human” 😩😂😂 it’s such a weird feeling but also I felt “I will give my own life for you” & “I’ve never loved anything so much”♥️
So glad he was healthy and the chord didn't cause him harm! God totally made the womens body in such an incredible way. Thanks so much for sharing emily, love your videos. And your vulnerability in sharing, you're so funny and it was so special to hear ❤ your boys are precious! -Sarah
Thank you for sharing. I am so glad God protected you and Norman and got you to the hospital in time. I haven't had a child yet, so I don't speak from personal experience, but I know of someone who had a home birth and the cord was wrapped around the neck, and the baby didn't make it. So, I'm so so thankful for God's protection over him! Norman is a joy (even though he fusses a lot) he is ALIVE!
Congratulations. God bless you and your family. What a wonderful blessing from the Lord. I have 4. I loved loved being pregnant, and I managed to stay home til they were a bit older then I went back teaching.
So glad u shared... very similar birth story to my labor with my son~ almost 10 years ago! Norman was ready to come out and see the world!!! 😘 He is precious!!! XO
Omgosh Emily, what a crazy story . Reliving your deep feelings at the end had me tearing up a little , your so sweet . I glad you decided to share your story. And Normie.is adorable . Tfs Mary
Thank you so much for being so real and raw about your experience with giving birth and meeting your baby for the first time and getting to know them as a brand new person. I think there’s a lot of pressure on moms to automatically feel that connection even though you do because you are carrying them for nine months, there is still that time to get to know them and that’s OK because each day God leads you with grace ❤️
Awww! What a great birth story! I have three - and on their birthdays I call them up and tell them THEIR story - again! Now i have grandmama stories to tell! Thanks for sharing, Emily. You truly have been blessed!
wow that is scary but praise God everything was ok. My 6th child was quite fast + I was in shock so I know how you felt. I had never gone in to labour on my own + was in hospital ready to be induced in the morning as there were problems with the baby. I was on delivery an hour + 12 minutes before I delivered her. I delivered her in one contraction + 2 pushes. It was such a shock to me never having managed to do it all on my own. My husband missed it as he slept through the phone call but I was just thankful for her safe delivery. .
Our second birth was crazy quick too- 7 minutes from walking through the hospital doors to holding her in my arms. The ride to the hospital included chirps from our 18 month old parroting us talking about Mommy pushing. Good thing the train did not come through or we definitely would have had her in the vehicle!
This happened to me on Sunday night, craziest night ever and pain that I wouldn’t wish on everyone. Hoping to find it funny in a few months too 🤦🏼♀️😊🤪
Thanks for sharing. I had my 2nd baby a few weeks ago and with my 2nd labor and delivery was about 45 mins. It was completely different from my 1st Baby and I wasn't expecting it. The 2nd time around I decided to have the baby at a birthing center outside the hospital with a midwife... so, I was expecting some level of pain... but I didn't expect to go from 6cm to giving birth in 45 mins. Prior to 6cm I was 3-4cm for about 2 weeks and I had contractions but were completely manageable... even on my way to the birthing center the contractions were manageable... until I arrived... that's when everything went super fast. Good thing I decided not to stop at Wawa on the way to the birthing center....minutes later my body was doing the pushing for me.
Thanks so much for sharing! I listened the whole time with my hand over my mouth and then cried a bit at the end. Stressful video to watch, but in the best way! What a story! Glad it all worked out for you and your little Normy! ;)
I'm so glad that you mentioned being in shock and feeling like you don't know your baby when they're first born because I felt that exact way with both of my kids. Also, there must be something about having a crazy birth story with your second because mine was insane (the nurses didn't think I was far at all and I had my daughter 26 minutes after arriving). My sister had her second baby unexpectedly at home on her birthday three weeks early and my friend had her second in the car 😂
The doctor left for an appointment when I was headed into push time. She thought I was fine. Five minutes later I was pushings and she ran back as he was half way out lol
Omg Emily ..wow.. I was on the edge of my seat listening to your story...😲...you were in labor ...though mild ...for a week so when your water broke it was a lightening fast birth... you were lucky to make it out of the car in time.. 🙏... your children and husband are lucky to have you...a beautiful family 😘
I I can relate, I was due to be induced at midnight by my Gynae and my son was born at 23: 50. My labour started out of the blue and the next thing I gave birth. I must say one of the disadvantages of having a quick labour is that you don't really have time to process what's happening.
This was one of the most interesting stories I've heard in a while. I'm so glad you guys had the sense to have the urgency. And happy you were both safe and healthy. ❤
I truly loved this ❤️🙏🏻 Thank you so much for charing. I am a Doula and birth photographer and I can here these stories all day long. 😍 I had also a 50 min birth and got a 3:rd tair and Can so relate. You are a true warrior. 💪💪❤️❤️❤️
I was just about to watch one of your macrame videos and saw this first. It brought a couple tears to my eyes. Very sweet. I'm happy for your beautiful family. Now to macrame...
I love every video You've made. Thank You for sharing with Your giving birth story❤ You are realy special person for me and close to my heart. Wish You well ❤❤❤
I just had my baby boy on Sunday. My waters went at home, we drive an hour and a half to the hospital, and I had barely got myself on the bed and was pushing. Head came out with a single push, body followed straight away. I was in shock! 2.5 hours start to finish
I just had my 3rd baby. She was born in 47 mins flat 🤣 I never expected that to happen, so it's nice to come across other mums who have had a fast labour! I didn't even know it was possible 🤣 I thought ide have maybe a 3hr labour.. & thought that was fast 🤣 but honestly, I had an amazing labour, it really was not that bad compared to my 1st or 2nd birth, they just get less painful each time, for me atleast! In hindsight, I'm glad I laboured so fast, I only had a few HARD contractions & she was out. Rather than hours of hard contractions.. My 1st labour was 10 hours. 2nd was 3 hours 45 minutes.
Your seconds sons birth story is so similar to mine! With my second born I had also gone on a walk to get the baby out and around 9:30p.m my contractions started and were 10 minutes apart. At 11:21 I had my son💙 with no medication.
Wow! On one hand im like okay goals you didn’t have to be in pain for 30+ hours but on the other hand oh my goodness I would definitely be in shock too not having anytime to process what’s going on! You did great! I wonder how your next delivery will go!!
Love a good fast birth story!! ❤️ 😂 if it’s gonna be terrible, might as well be quick! Getting stitched up is the worst! It takes forever and you just want to hold your baby.
I just had my second baby 4 days ago, and she was born in only 68 minutes from any sign of baby coming, to baby out. Watching your video cracks me up because my story is INCREDIBLY similar to yours, even including leaving the car running with the doors open at the ER entrance! What a crazy thing to happen. I’m curious if you’ve since had more children and your experience was the same, or god forbid, even faster!! Anyways, thanks for making me laugh today with your great story!!
Wow what an amazing story, well done Emily! So lucky to you lived so close to the hospital, I know people who live 1-2 hours away and it that case it might have been a car delivery 😅
This sounds exactly like my birth story but 3 months ago. I was hoping I wasn't the only one who had the shortest labor ever. I had no time to gradually work up to pain levels it was basically like no pain to extreme pain to the nurse seeing hairy head coming out so I had to deliver naturally too it was kinda traumatic honestly as I have a older son who is 8 years apart from my new baby and that labor took 19 hours!
In 1999, my 7th was a 45 minute (from first contraction) labor, planned homebirth. The midwife missed it by almost half an hour lol. It was the best labor/birth of my 9. I called my birth story "Faster Than LensCrafters" lol.
I also had precipitous labor with my first baby! I just went through it a month ago. Thanks for sharing! It’s good to hear similar stories. Unfortunately, my daughter was in distress and had to be in the NICU for a while. She’s doing well now :-)
I have had 2 unmedicated deliveries. When the nurse said to "blow it away" that is used more for before transition. You were already ready to start pushing, which she obviously couldn't have known.lol. at the point where you are pushing you concentrate on pushing and bare down. While baring down it is better to "mone" in a low voice. If you are screaming out you are wasting energy screaming. After birth is way worse the second time then the first 😫 especially when they keep pushing on your belly.
Ohh that makes sense! I for sure wasn’t high pitch screaming it was a deep yell before we got to the hospital 😅 but once I could properly push I felt such relief being able to give purpose to my pain and push Norman out. Those belly pushes are the worst
@@EmilyFaith yes! With my first pushing was the best part because I was distracted and "in the zone" lol. With my second it was HORRIBLE but that was because the little bugger had his arm over his face 🙄😅
I had a fast birth with my third child (though not as fast as yours) and am surprised in the differences between the US and Canada! I’m sorry they didn’t give you any pain meds immediately after delivering!! I wanted an epidural and couldn’t get one either, but immediately after birth they gave me pain meds so I could enjoy the moment and not be in so much pain. Here in the US hospitals really have to prioritize pain management and patient satisfaction because it affects how much funding they receive! I wonder if that is not the case in Canada? I am shocked they made you wait 45 minutes for a doctor following your birth!!
Canadian healthcare is free, and funded by the government and taxes, so in a very summarized way (not getting into the politics of it or the nitty gritty) here is how it varies from the States. Pro: it's free and you dont have to go in debt if you have a serious illness. Con: you often have to wait longer for treatment, and the system can have a lot of strain on it, and it doesn't cover mental health, optometry, mental health and dental (generally, depends province to province).
This was so wonderful to watch........ im such a huge fan of yours!!!! What a crazy way to enter the world little Norman!!!!! Such a handsome boy... i have 3 girls, Autumn Hayley, Willow Rayne and Clover Skye... i was in grueling painful labor for 63 hours with Autumn it was horrific and ended in an emergency csection to save both of our lives........due to having the cse tion. Both Willow and Clover were born via scheduled csection.... but in all honesty i was relieved to have "easier" (lol) births... i don't wish what happened to me on my worst enemy.. but as soon as she was placed in my arms it made everything worth it...... by the way I love your boys names...... so much love from SC!!!!!! Keep up the great content you are such an inspiration!
My 2nd was 3 hours, my 3rd was 1 hour and I just had my 4th in 40 min 😳 it was insane!! I also experience prodromal labor (that actually dilate me and feel painful).
With a precipitous labor there’s no quiet or blowing through that. All 3 of mine were vbacs and I planned them natural but you can’t do anything but just be along for the ride.
I had that feeling of “who are you?” with my daughter but I think it’s because I had the same extremely fast labor. Everything happened all at once. I had small cramps here and there and then everything hit all at once with both of my kids. Not what people tell you when you’re expecting! Lol.
Just like my third baby. Doctor was saying pant, pant I’m almost done washing my hands. We only lived 5 minx from hospital. We left our car running in the emergency entrance. I we from 2 cm to 10 in about 40 mins. It was a military hospital. The nurse sent me home saying your in early labor. Third time? I knew I was in active labor. As soon as I laid down at home I went into transition and pushing. This was 45 yrs ago.
Yeah, my instinct was that I was the ultimate protector of my child but at the same time it was so weird because I just met my kid face to face for the first time. Crazy stuff.
I have a similar story. This was with my second child. I was playing with my son and bent down and felt a pop. Within 5 minutes I knew we had to get to the hospital. The hospital was 25 minutes from our house. In the car the contractions were on top of each other and super painful. why the fuck didn't your husband leave the car? that was kind of selfish....

Congratulations. God bless you and your family. What a wonderful blessing from the Lord. I have 4. I loved loved being pregnant, and I managed to stay home til they were a bit older then I went back teaching.
Your raw vulnerability made me tear up. Thank you for sharing your story.
So glad u shared... very similar birth story to my labor with my son~ almost 10 years ago! Norman was ready to come out and see the world!!! 😘 He is precious!!! XO
I'm about 18 weeks along with my first and I'm really hoping for a fast birth haha - loved this video Emily!

Loved the video Emily...I secretly was hoping for a speedy delivery but I've heard that the feeling is wayyyy more intensified with a short bith.
Wonderful story. Crying now. Perhaps the "last baby blues" :-(

This happened to me on Sunday night, craziest night ever and pain that I wouldn’t wish on everyone. Hoping to find it funny in a few months too 🤦🏼♀️😊🤪
So glad you didn’t give birth in the car! Loved hearing tour story!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this personal experience. Bless you lovely
I adore your children’s names! Will you share sometime how/ why you chose them and what other names you were thinking about? ❤️
Things we shouldn’t ever question sharing. Thanks, gal! Both of my labors were 30+ hours. Not sure what’s worse lol
What an incredible birth story!! 💙🥰 Wow! I’ve always been induced so I never had an experience like that. You are amazing! 🙌🏼

I was just about to watch one of your macrame videos and saw this first. It brought a couple tears to my eyes. Very sweet. I'm happy for your beautiful family. Now to macrame...
Thank you! Have fun!!
I love every video You've made. Thank You for sharing with Your giving birth story❤ You are realy special person for me and close to my heart. Wish You well ❤❤❤
hiiiii....loved it!!! everyone is different. .thanks for sharing💕💕🌹
My fastest was 4 hours and looking back, it was hilarious and a blast!
@@AHeartForHomeEducation so not fun, however i actually hold my baby the whole time waiting and being stitched.
I love this kind of content along with your other content. Awesome!
More to come!
Love your story!! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
I’m about to have my third. My second was also like this. I’ll update if my third is like this too!
So sweet. Thank you
I love you Emily!
Beautiful story thank youfor sharing x
Thank you for watching.
Congratulations
Wow what an amazing story, well done Emily! So lucky to you lived so close to the hospital, I know people who live 1-2 hours away and it that case it might have been a car delivery 😅
Ooooof yeah that would have definitely been me! Thanks for watching!
I love that you shared!💛
Just saying hi. 😉 Wow! What an incredibly fast birth!
My 8th baby was born 30 minutes after getting to the hospital!
She’s doing well now :-)
I literally have this exact same experience wow I was thinking about posting my experience too lol
My 2nd was born 7 minutes after I got to the hospital 😂 the second one comes FAST!
It's more like they encourage intervention after intervention so they can charge you more in the US!
You queen
Hoping mine is like that!
You are Super Woman Em 💗 Wish my birth experience was fast 😅
Soo glad we had homebirths ~Mamma of 6 :)
You are supermom!!
This happened to me! And I held baby in because everyone else (nurses) pretty much gaslit me 😭
My 2nd was 3 hours, my 3rd was 1 hour and I just had my 4th in 40 min 😳 it was insane!!
Lol.
Thanks for sharing 😊
Just like my third baby. Doctor was saying pant, pant I’m almost done washing my hands. We only lived 5 minx from hospital. We left our car running in the emergency entrance. I we from 2 cm to 10 in about 40 mins. It was a military hospital. The nurse sent me home saying your in early labor. Third time? I knew I was in active labor. As soon as I laid down at home I went into transition and pushing. This was 45 yrs ago.
Hi u know what please teach me how to do it couse I suffer allot
Currently waiting to go into labor with baby number 4 right now lol
Wooooo!! How exciting ❤️🙏🏻
Love you Emily x x x
any tips on how to dialate quickly ?
4 natural births the strongest meds I has was tynol.
Woke at about 230 am in the hospital and told them to get the Dr it was time too deliver the baby
Giving God the glory.
Girl, you might have to have a homebirth if you decide to have another baby!
Wow my first took 36 hours of hard labor, but the second child came in an hour.
Yeah, my instinct was that I was the ultimate protector of my child but at the same time it was so weird because I just met my kid face to face for the first time. Crazy stuff.
