Is Terry Silver a Psychopath?

- Terry Silver is a bad guy but is he REALLY a psychopath? Ken uses Dr. Robert D. Hare's book "Without Conscience" to examine Terry Silver in Karate Kid Part III and Cobra Kai Season 4 to see if Terry Silver is a clinical psychopath. Then we'll see what that means for his character in Cobra Kai Season 5. This video was inspired by the great work at @TheBehaviorPanel

If Silver is a psychopath, well he's my favorite Psychopath.
The PERFECT psychopath!

@@KenCole What if Terry Silver went against Dexter Morgan?
You're sick
😁
Apparently a psychopath is "born" one, whereas a sociopath is "made" such through bad life experiences. From what we've seen of Young Terry in Cobra Kai, he displayed very few, if any, of these negative characteristics early on; he seemed like a naive, sweet kid, albeit one who suffered from fear and anxiety. He seemed genuinely terrified when Ponytail was about to be murdered, whereas psychopaths tend to stay cool in threatening situations; one of a psychopath's most unusual characteristics, in fact, is that they _don't_ fear death. Moreover, Silver pledged life-long loyalty to Kreese after Kreese saved him from death, and repeatedly proved that loyalty to Kreese. Why would a psychopath repeatedly show real loyalty to anyone but themself, especially if the returns on that loyalty are so low? So while I do not suspect Terry is a psychopath, I would agree that Terry is definitely a sociopath. Dutch, on the other hand...
Thank you for this great comment! I might need to do a follow-up video sometime, including more on psychopath v. sociopath. You bring up an interesting question about loyalty, though my question would be whether Terry ever showed deep loyalty to Kreese or whether he was always more concerned about himself. I touch on it on this video here: ua-cam.com/video/4yMNROVFMtM/v-deo.html
Right, a psycopath is born and a socyopath is made. Young Terry Silver was very manipulative.
@@franciscoramirezespanagarc7974 If you mean Vietnam Silver, no he wasn’t. If you mean Karate Kid 3 Silver there was definitely an influence beforehand.
@@sergeant_ruh_rh8537 in Vietnam Terry Silver was more covert. He pretended to be weak and fearful in order to manipulate Kreese into taking his place in that fight against the captain. I suspect he pulled the same trick countless times, making Kreese believe that he was Terry´s strength, but in reality, Terry was the mastermind and Kreese the one who fought Silver's battles. In Karate Kid 3 Silver had become more overt.
How is duch a psyhopath
Karate Kid 3 definitely doesn't deserve the hate that it gets, I mean Terry silver alone makes it worth it.
💯
It was a bad movie with a great villain.
@@natebaxter9551 The problem was that the plot, along with the stakes, completely diminished the movie. They poked fun of it in Cobra Kai about silver being wealthy, and using his resources to terrorize a teenager for a high school tournament. Second, the stakes in this one paled in comparison to the second film. It's hard for people to be invested when you go from fighting for pride/tournament, to fighting to the death, and then back to fighting for a tournament.
KK3 was a good movie, but not as good as the first two and definitely not as suspenseful. But we did get two awesome characters out of it.
I did think he was great👍
Thomas is an amazing actor who shines in Cobra Kai. Perfect as a villain, but could easily make you feel a connection to him. Terry Silver has now been given extra details we've been waiting to know
💯 Totally agree.
I'm pretty convinced that Silver is not a psychopath. Because he seems to have quite serious ptsd problems if he were a psychobat, I do not think the war would have affected him in that way. We also see when he finally decides to support Kreese he thinks back to when they were young and they supported each other. And finally, he seemed to be downright disappointed when he tried to show his loyalty to Kreese by beating down Jonny but Kreese did not want it. I think this indicates that Silver feels things quite strongly
And speaking of the affair with Cheyenne, I think Silver simply got tired of being her sugar daddy
Thank you for the great comment!
This is what you get when you try to explain a person's behaviour away by simply labelling them one thing or another: inconsistencies.
It's a fun little video but way over-anyltical.
Actually, considering how the way he laughs, where is almost sounds like he’s crying while he’s doing so….

If you don't see a psychopath as such, that means you are another psychopath.
The actor is so underrated he really brings the inner psychopath in the character it wouldent be as good by any other actor in my opinion
I 100% agree. A MasterClass performance.
I like that you linked to a real psychologist to have a serious discussion of psychopaths who might be in people’s lives. Too many yt channels pretend to have knowledge on the subject so it’s good to see a channel being responsible.
Thank you!
I'm impressed by this analysis of Silver. It's no surprise Silver is able to hide his behavior given he puts up a "villain with good publicity".
If compared to Griffith from Berserk, he has all the qualities, if not, the same as Silver. Unlike Silver, Griffith has nerves of steel, projecting his charisma to his followers in the Band of the Hawk and rarely shows poor impulse control unless if his ego is bruised. And like most psychopaths, Griffith only sees his underlings as expendables for his ambition. He even gets worse after his reincarnation.
I think that we'll get more flashbacks of Terry Silver when he was young in S5, and we could see him before he joined the Army.
Would love to see more flashbacks.
Hopefully we can see what his home life was like before the army, maybe he was forced to join the army by his dad.
The whole karate kid series is based around fatherhood. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they show him having an abusive father who was manipulative which made Terry a good manipulator
Terry Silver is one of my favorite villains in cinema.
He would play a awesome villain in the upcoming Lethal Weapon 5 or even a James Bond flick.
Heck yeah! Dang I didn’t know Lethal Weapon 5 was coming.
Loving the Silver content Ken! When’s that TIG interview coming? I am hoping we get a lot more of Silver in S5, him running the dojo and his back story. Also looking forward to seeing Mike Barnes return. I am hoping Stink Ray is doing time of his own for assaulting the neighbor and giving alcohol to minors when he gets out of the hospital.
Hey a TIG interview would be amazing and would love that to happen. More backstory would be great and you're right Stingray isn't squeaky clean 😆
Especially after season 5, I think it's clear that Kreese is the real psychopath. Terry comes off more as a sociopath who is trying to copy the man he admires. He's just smarter.
Excellent analysis as usual, Ken. I agree that Terry's traits are indicative of psychopathy and that they enhance the sense of realism (or relatability to his character). As you said, we'll all deal with at least one person who possesses these characteristics at some point in our lives, which instantly makes his flamboyance and eccentricities believable. Thank you for sharing this 😊👍
Thank you so much! Yes these qualities do make Terry strangely relatable.
Terry is not a psychopath.
He wouldn’t be having PTSD from Nam if he was, having memories “he’d rather forget”. He clearly does have conscience.
Kreese is a sociopath. Difference is psychopaths are born, sociopaths are made. Desensitised to violence and death. Both men have PTSD.
Silver was coked up in KK3 but calculated in Cobra Kai
Thanks for the comment! How do you feel Terry shows a conscience, and how is Kreese a sociopath?
Tbh, your videos are my go-to for Terry Silver. They're so good.
Thank you 🙏
Ahhh no words. What an epic video! Absolutely love everything about this. Watched it twice, need to watch it again later! Also thank you for the book recommendation! What music did you use at the beginning?
Thank you so much!! It was some great stock music, I'd need to look it up.
Great video KC.👍 Thank you. 🙂
You're very welcome!
Always love your Terry Silver analysis videos!
Terry is probably more likely a sociopath with PTSD. In the war flashbacks, he seems more cowardly and was severely traumatized after watching his friend get shot in the head. Even in the flashback of him and Kreese in the tattoo parlor, he seems very naive and loyal to Kreese. Hopefully we get a chance to see Terry's background and upbringing explored, but it seems like he was brought up in a civilized and rich household with a father who expected Terry to be like him.
Thanks for your comment and you bring up some great points, and it would be interesting to explore them possibly in a future video.
Well I believe he does have PTSD. When Silver’s servant was putting whatever in Silver’s breakfast, it reminded him of a gun.
But sociophats are not the greatest social people
Also, Kreese saw his captain die and seeing people die is a way of PTSD. Kreese And Silver saw their best friend die

I too am a Terry Silver fan since KK3 back in the day, and while I haven't been watching Cobra Kai, I catch glimpses here or there.. the return of Terry Silver was very very exciting to me of all the return cameos and storylines to the show. Not sure what that says about me being a fan of a pyscohopathic character lol
Amazing vid! BTW, looking great!
Thank you! 🙏
Another great character analysis and insight
Thank you!
Love your content Ken
Thank you! 🙏
A very good breakdown on the character.
Obviously Kreese coming back into his life has triggered that urge again. The violent urge to be powerful and glorious in his strengths.
To beat someone so violently, like he does to Stingray. Then to be able to manipulate him into making a false statement to the police that it was Kreese. He missed the ultimate power, from living along his shadow self. Terry was comfortable with Kreese out of his life but in his mind, he knew he had to defeat Kreese to escape him. That makes him a winner again.
I believe Stingray will withdraw his allegation about Kreese at some point.
Thank you for the comment - very interesting points!
In all fairness…. I think anyone would beat up Stink Ray, 😂. Psychopath or not
😆
Well, you and 7 people are definitely psychopaths in that sense. Beating people because they are not what you want them to be is quite problematic....
Not to say I wouldn't, but I know what I am...

amazing breakdown ken, i completely agree but i thought he was definitely wrong in the head, maybe narcissistic but now that i think about it this alligns perfectly and makes him an even scarier character
Thank you and yes, this type of guy is definitely scary!
a master of deception, a master of martial arts....Silver would make an excelent Ninja
He basically IS a ninja in season 5
I just loved how the writers in Cobra Kai wrote his character. They just gave him more depth and added more to his story overall, especially regarding Kreese. They made him a really interesting character.
Judging by the love and empathy he has to for Kreese I'd say no. Psychopaths aren't capable of empathy.
Yeah, he was so empathetic toward Kreese that he framed him for a crime he didn't commit and had him imprisoned. Did you even watch the show at all???
@@mr.battle20 yeah he was tired of kreese getting in his head but he did keep doing what kreese said until the day after prom which is when he lost it (again) and stopped caring about kreese which is why he said he was shedding him away because he was his weakness
Yes he is lol I hope he invites mike Barnes in season 5
That would be awesome!
I’m gonna get my star student back
Fun Fact Thomas Ian Griffith who plays Silver is 60 years old and is slightly younger than Ralph Maccio and is 16 years younger than Martin Cove who plays Kreese. Therefore, Silver is much older than the actor who plays him.
Lol and Ralph is much older than Daniel 🤣
@@ArnaudTyson2008 Yes sir

Terry is like 70's while his actor Ian is just 60 years old 🤣😂
And Daniel is 45 years old (although in Season 3 it was mentioned that he is the same age as Miyagi in 1984) but his actor Ralph is 60 years old 🤣😂
@@ArnaudTyson2008 true dat 😅 😂 🤣 🥲
@@ArnaudTyson2008 except Daniel and Johnny are in their mid 50's
I think from the start Miyagi himself knew that Silver was a narcissistic sociopath.
If he knew then why didn't told Daniel to be careful with him.
@@ezanamelekot6796 Sometimes when you care about or love someone you have to let those people figure out themselves because most of the time they can be deceived by individuals that appear to be truthful when inside they lying deceitful narcissistic sociopaths ready to bring harm down on them.
I think Terry at the start of cobra Kai was changed, but Kreese kinda brought him back. It was clear Terry was kinda rattled after taking to Kreese. Everything he did seemed “out of character” for how he was as Tofu Terry. I think as time went on, he only got worse.
I could see Terry apologizing to Daniel as sincere. But Daniel’s rejection could’ve triggered him to double down. I believe he even commented on Kreese’s teaching at some point almost protesting.
I think what we’ve seen is a relapse that just turned into a downward spiral.
Hi,I loved the video! Just wondering what your thoughts are on terry silver vs chozen now, as it seems many have different opinions on that topic
Ooooo, that sounds like a great idea for a video!
@@KenCole thank you!
Nah, dude's a "nurture" created sociopath who's triggered by intense PTSD trauma like a Manchurian Candidate.
Kreese's is that very trigger.
Every part of Kreese is a nuclear detonation code to Terry.
He made great progress to control His innate, but by no means natural, evil tenancies and I believe that He did become the mellow Tofu Terrance that we met, but that it was a great feat of conscious daily willpower to maintain that cool.
Terry has far more capacity to be a good Man than Kreese ever could by miles, and that is what makes His evil side so much more potent. He knows ALL the angles...
...I hope we get to see every one of them exploited to their fullest extent next season. With great relish and side of extra spicy fries...
TIG makes the chaos so delightfully delicious😉💖
Thank you for your thoughtful comment!
@@KenCole Always! Adore your content😌💖
That def can be tge case. But we also never seen how he was bf tge flash backs of the war.
@@cjstats1514 PTSD/Or War induced Shell Shock doesn't usually hit a Soldier full-on until they get home. That's when all the chaos hits all at once. Every incremental bit of stress and harrowing thing seen. You can bet the TWIG that hugged Kreese freed from the cage was very much still the sweet Boy He was even though shaken silly. I believe He was kind and gentle before all that. That War made Him a very sickly beast. 😔💔
Sociopaths are different than psychopaths 1 they are made ussually are a result of an abusive life or maybe of a very privilaged life while psychopaths are born also it is possible for a sociopathy to show empathy but its extremely difficult and 3 psychopaths tend to fit in with society more while sociopaths are impolsive
It's definitely an interesting discussion - if you're interested in psychopaths vs. sociopaths, Dr. Hare goes into more detail on p.23 of Without Conscience.
@@KenCole nice
I think with Season 5 it gets interesting since before he discovers that Chozen is a spy, he says to him how he believes that Cobra Kai can make a big difference and help kids. This would kind of reflect on him being weak till he turned people's fears against them. I think with Cobra Kai trying to steer away from 2-Dimensional characters.
There's also the finale where he basically just blurts out how "There are no good or bad" and how life is a competitive sport (Kreese also says how there are no good or bad which is why they use the authority not to their advantage). This is when Terry was not focusing and was off-balance, so I think he was telling the truth there.
I don’t think it is black and white. One can make a case either way. In his conversation with Kreese, he really was conflicted over his past behavior. And the scene with him reflecting in the cellar was Terry verses Terry. Part of him was sincere about changing his ways. Thank you for great videos!
He's a stable and exemplary human being, what are you talking about?
You’re right! Yes, actually we could all learn a lot from Terry Silver 😁
NO, he's a legend!
He is definitely a legend!
I would say that Terry Silver is VERY intelligent, calculating, and manipulative but not a psychopath. Here's why:
- Terry shows genuine remorse and reflection.
The writers confirmed that Terry was 100% sincere in his apology to Daniel. And Terry even says “I was so hopped up on cocaine and revenge that I spent months terrorizing a teenager over a high-school karate tournament. It sounds insane just talking about it". This shows remorse, self awareness, and reflection. Terry admits his actions were insane. This is something a psychopath would never do. And there's no evidence to show that he was 'faking it' since he was saying this to Kreese. What would a Psychopath gain from saying this to Kreese of all people?
- Terry is a relapsed addict and suffers from mental illness.
KK3 Terry is a veteran that used illicit drugs to drown out his PTSD and cope with his mental illness. Drugs absolutely DO alter your perception and personality. Addiction warps who you are and finding yourself after getting clean can be VERY difficult without a good support system. Which Terry didn't have. And he stopped taking his meds (which I believe were for his mental illness) which always spells disaster.
- Terry relapsed because of his loneliness.
Anyone that's gone to rehab will tell you that having a good support system is VERY important. Without it you'll relapse. Terry was able to get pulled in by Kreese because he didn't have a circle of people that genuinely cared for him. He clung to what was familiar and paid the price.
- Tofu Terry was out of balance.
After rehab Terry was trying to find his identity again. Looks like he crafted a "good guy" checklist and molded himself into what he thought he needed to be. The 'Tofu Terry' persona led him to being repressed and unhappy. Which Kreese fully exploited. Terry needs to learn that there's a middle ground. He can be a good person while also being intense, calculating, and passionate without going insane and beating people up.
- Terry struggles with passivity and tending to taking orders from others.
Terry admits this to Kenny and it's one of the reasons he takes the boy under his wing. He sees himself in Kenny. He hasn't learned how to be his own person. Psychopaths don't take orders from anyone. They're always looking out for themselves and will crush anyone that tries to make them submit in anyway (i.e. Kreese).
- When Kreese tells Terry to fall back in line Terry genuinely has tears in his eyes when he says, "Yes, Captain".
And after this he's seen drinking and murmuring to himself about 'proving himself'.
Id love to see Cinema Therapy tacle the Karate Kid series, espeicially the villains Kreese and Silver
Perfect analysis ! I've often asked myself what kind of psychopath Terry Silver is ... ever since back in the late 80's when I saw KK3. Wonderful guy at first glance , charming , self-confident, well-spoken and convincing , like a true King. But will stab you in the back when you're not looking. Also true that Most psychos are Not violent , and they are very common in our own society today. It's far more common than most people might think. Let's say its scale ... 1-100 among humans overall ^_^
Thank you and yes they are way more common than a lot of people think!
Can you make a video about my fav sensai baddie, Dugan?
I thought you brought the doctor as a guest in your video. Anyway great points, and great video. When I saw the title of the video, I wanted to ask you- Why the question mark in the end? Of course he is. But he is doing that in greatness and humor (Thomas) That's why he caused us Terry Silver fans, to love Terry even that we know he is a horrible human being. And I knew few of those people in my life.

Thank you Eran! I think it's an interesting question that even people here in the comments don't 100% agree on the answer.
@@KenCole To me it's unmistakable he is one. Notice that until episode 3 he took pills. My guess is that these are pills for mental illness possibly, and he stopped taking them, that's why he returned to be the way we knew him in KK3. Loved the video, thank you.
Silvertastic video, Ken.
Thank you! 🙏
can you make a video about tommy's life, background and character
That's a good idea, I'll need to think on that!
Hey Ken! Is it possible for you to do a video on how rich is terry silver by analyzing what was said in the movie and tv show? I always wonder how rich, if he’s a millionaire or billionaire
That sounds like a fun idea! Let me think about it. Hmmm, how rich is Terry?
I can help with this
As said by Demetri, he had ups and downs. I strongly believe he was a billionaire in KK3, and by CK season 4, I believe he is a multi millionaire, as he looks different like he has less money, but still much. He lives in a beautiful beach house, must cost a ton of money.
When Terry Silver got Kreese arrested, I saw that he was more sinister than I thought. I expected him to be forever loyal to Kreese.
Ken Cole first wanna say love your videos I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this but what's your take on Paul Dugan? As well as alpha elite? And do you think you can do a dive into them? It's gonna eventually come up or be presented as difficult as it is the next karate kid is going to be in the cobra kai series or a spin off like maybe eagle fang the next dojo or alpha elite the next cobra kai generation or perhaps Okinawa Miyagi and Jack pierce
Thank you! I did a video about Dugan, not sure if it’s exactly what your asking but check it out here: Does Col. Dugan Know Kreese and Terry Silver?
ua-cam.com/video/8df3EWhr5K8/v-deo.html
Your videos are really very well done. And I love the analysis of Terry. However, I'd rather have the series end with season 5. Of course like any fan of the show and films I'd want the story to continue. But I believe if it goes past the upcoming season it could go downhill and fast. All the more reason why a show like King of the Hill ended perfectly and won't come back unlike the Simpsons and Family Guy
Thank you! I hear you about shows that stay around too long. I have faith that they’ll end it when they’ve feel like the whole story has been told and not stretch it out for 💰
@@KenCole Best of luck with the series as well! Just be sure not to go kicking any boba teas out of peoples hands. Could get messy
I don't think he is, he was manipulated by his "Kreese" who would play with his loyalty and ptsd. Personally i see his motivations in Cobra Kai as being business related, trouble is I remember reading Dan Pena where he talked about how some psychopathic tendencies actually help in the business world, ability to compartmentalize your life etc.
Indeed, the corporate or "subcriminal" psychopath can do well in business. My question about Terry would be, did he really feel all that loyal to Kreese?
@@KenCole at the time meeting with Daniel and Johnny I actually get the vibe he meant every word and saw it as a business opportunity and nothing more (he had the idea in his head for franchises etc), when Kreese triggered his PTSD all loyalty disappeared it became personal and unleashed the old Terry Silver.
A lot of people think psychopaths don't have feelings, they do though. You can honestly debate, did Silver ever really value Kreese that much? I'm not even sure if it was 'personal' being the reason that he betrayed Kreese. Listen to his last speech, he said his weakness is Kreese. And he's shedding that skin, meaning, him. So what Silver was really saying is that, Kreese is holding him back on what he wants done with Cobra Kai and views him as collateral damage.
Kreese triggering his PTSD was messed up, but framing him to go to prison for it? Really? I think it was more complex than that. It was evident by that point Kreese and Silver WERE NOT on the same page. It was Kreese not going along with Silver's way that made him betray him.
@@KenCole I don't think he was at all. In Karate Kid 3, Terry seemed to enjoy the idea of getting revenge on someone. And one can assume its because of his loyalty to Kreese. I never really saw it that. I think he enjoyed the Karate world. We get that indication in the flashbacks as a young Silver, he loves it. He's addicted to it and its what he wants to do. But can't at the time being, because he wants his fathers money.
Young Kreese is disappointed, says he needs Silver to help him with the dojos. Silver won't abandon his fathers money, to help the suppose friend he's in debt to, and to do something he obviously really wants to do. Silver, even then, going to look out for Silver first.
And back in Karate Kid 3, Kreese was on board with Silver's plans. Now, he wasn't.
We never get any indication, at all, that he's actually loyal to Kreese. At first, he wants nothing to do with Kreese (in Cobra Kai). So this 'I'll always be there when you need me' was BS.
But then Terry gets that old itch again. But this time, Kreese was not going along with Silver.
So Silver betrayed him, not because I think of the PTSD trigger. But to get Kreese out of the way so he can do to Cobra Kai exactly as he envisions. I think the PTSD manipulation attempt scene by Kreese, sealed the deal with Silver, Kreese will never let him run Cobra Kai the way HE wants to.
Kreese underestimated Silver and his loyalty to him. He thought he had it. He was wrong.
i love him😭💗
I'm coming out of this from a narrative perspective Kreese and his failing as a teacher Johhny might have been his best student but Silver was his first and him being a psychopath takes away the narrative of him being a monster of Kresse making to me
When Terry Silver was younger he said he was high on drugs, and when you're high on drugs it's this addiction that you can't stop and it's really bad, and it affects your mind, like you are still aware of what's happening, but you won't be able to control some of your actions in the moment, and that's why people would get upset quickly. Cobra Kai Terry said that he went to go get help and all, and he seemed like much better than before, even telling John Kreese "You leaving was apparently the best thing that ever happened to me" when he returned he said "I thought we were gonna stop our old ways, and finally do what's right for this Karate place. If we keep going this way then it'll be the same thing as last time, where they would win and we would lose, we need to learn from our mistakes" Silver seeing his past of John Kreese, and Daniel LaRusso, and even the fact that John Kreese would bring up the Vietnam War was really starting to mess with Silver's head, and just slowly he started to change back to his old ways without the drugs, but still remains more civil. John Kreese would push Silver to the limit, and then would stop him and because Silver was getting confused, and frustrated by this and getting emotionally damaged by this, he knew he needed a way to get rid of John Kreese for good, so that he won't ever have to remember about his past. Once he got rid of his weakness he can now have full control
Of two people that immediately come to mind, from years back, one is a lawyer today and the other a company vice president. Neither of these two men had conscience that I ever saw. Both of these men were competitive. They could be very charming, and knew how to impress higher ups. It is interesting that both were MPs in the military. Each of these two were good athletes, but would not challenge tougher competition.
0:14 wow ken, you look great
Thank you! 🙏
Silver just wants to play Dojo wars with Daniel 😆
He fits so many of the definitions of psychopath that I have to wonder if the writers of the show and movies actually STUDIED that aspect of psychology and on purpose created a psychopath character?
I had the same thought myself. And Thomas Ian Griffith plays it so on point, especially during those "conning Daniel" scenes in KK3.
1 thank you ken i ve been waiting for you to make a video on terry silver since s4 came out 2 no he is not psychopaths have absolutely no feelings they are basicly like machines that feel no empathy while terry does for example he cares about kreese and thats without mentioning his s4 transformetion into a better man so no he is just very evil

@@KenCole This was an amazing video. I love Terry Silver he is my favorite villain ever. I do think that he’s a psychopath who I would also compare to a chameleon because of how well he’s able to hide his true colors from everyone even himself. I think that this truly his plan all along. If you recall back in karate kid 3 after he fought Miyagi he said I am going to open up cobra Kai dojos all over the valley, I’m going to teach for free, I I I and only adding kreese’s name until the end and very quickly too. A psychopath is something that he always was and all kreese had to do was just wind him up and let him loose, which is ironically what he told Daniel in the store when he said that he always had a little bit of cobra Kai inside of him

He’s a sociopath. Kreese saved his life and he frames him and has him sent to prison over a karate dojo he barely though twice about for 35 years!
Yep, I agree 🙌
To be fair, Kreese did use saving Silver's life to continually take advantage of him. Like Silver says, "How many times will I have to repay that debt until we're square?"
Maybe mention his PTSD first!

I would say sociopath just based on how his experiences in Vietnam changed him for the worse.
Great analysis.. but terry silver definitely felt lots of fear (not just poor behavioral control) when he was in vietnam
He’s possibly a sociopath or could become one, with severe mental illness PTSD and probably other things. He does show remorse but at the end of season 4 when he betrayed kreese he’s become vengeful again and bitter. He’s one a very treacherous path to losing his mind completely. Especially after season 5 and losing in the way he did in front of his students etc. I think this will make him worse than ever, he will escape being sent to prison, seek revenge on Daniel, Johnny and Chozen. Maybe he gets thugs to attack daniels dealership or something. Maybe he goes totally insane and has Sam kidnapped idk honestly how he could get more evil without getting arrested.
Yes
I would say he’s more of a narcissist than a psychopath.
We are also forgetting that he experienced PTSD as well from Vietnam.
And with Terry and Cheyenne‘s relationship. Cheyenne clearly stated that they were just dating and not really serious. “Terrace and I are just on a journey for now.
Btw Psychopath, Sociopaths, and narcissists are closely on that same line of behaviors.
However I could be wrong
Btw keep up the good work Ken Cole, love the channel
Thank you for your comment!
thumbs up
This is the reason I like my psychology class. TV psychopaths Joseline Hernandez, K.Michelle Balistic(Joseline's new man)
i agree, that John Kreese is a sociopath who was made to be that way. He does show shreds of remorse and empathy. shreds of humanity, and therefore has a redemption chance later.
nah i think he just has a big ego
He negotiates backroom karate deals, with karate bad boys, while taking a bath… Idk if he’s a “psychopath”, but uh… he’s definitely not playing with a full deck.
Okay, just my amateur analysis here. Terry definitely has PTSD. He also has multiple personalities, which is likely a byproduct of his PTSD. In episode one of season 4, he's very docile. Episodes 3 to 7, he's intently focused but still reasonable and logical. At the end of episode 7 after Kreese confronts him, he snaps and becomes an even more dangerous version of himself from Karate Kid III. He's a complicated cat for sure.
Great points and I think that’s definitely a valid interpretation of Terry in CKS4.
I noticed that he promised Jonny 100% ownership of the dojo’s but he thin promises mike 50% it could be that he really didn’t care about Jonny at all he just was tired of him complaining about his situation and then he said okay I’ve had enough hearing about it and only then doe’s he set in Motion the scheme and just buy hearing him talking about dumping waste of his choice is all the evidence I think we should ever need
What About Oroku Saki Also Known As The Shredder He Is A Evil Martial Artist And A Evil Antagonistic Psychotic Ninja Master.
What About John Bishop ( TMNT ).
Krease had to come back and get into his head
A good theme for a video is
Who is better, Kreese Or Silver?
That would be a good video!
7:22 lies? I thought he actually sounded sincere
1:23 like you already do with the big T
That’s so right!
What I find interesting is that he reacted as if he was entitled to Daniel's forgiveness.
Yes, you stated it PERFECTLY!!
i dont think its a fake apology cos he gets offended when it is thrown back in his face. and his face didn't look like he didn't care he was ignoring his wife's texts. seems more like he is doing it out of dutyfulness to kreese
Yes.
Would the photogenic or telegenic guy with a straight firm but not excessive smile, slightly cocky, "glows" or "shines" with confidence, can easily dominate a social situation be a sociopath, or at least a narcissist? For a pop culture example, picture the above guy in a upper-middle-class clientel singles bar who seems like a "natural" at picking up the ladies. Or is he usually just arrogant?
This whole time his cousin was Tim cole
I don’t believe Silver is a true psychopath. He does have a couple traits of psychopaths though. Good video! Really made some good points. Terry has always been one of my favorite movie villains.
Thank you and yes, Terry is an awesome villain!
Interesting analysis. I always said that Terry Silver was a psychopath or at least a malignant narcissist. The latter are just as manipulative, unempathetic and sadistic as the psychopaths. He definitely is one of the two.
My first favorite caracter is one of they student can you gues it????
U know war can do something for man. He is Vietnams veteran! How about alcohol :D Anyways good video!
Terry Silver was the first true villain I've seen in a movie as a kid
🙌
In terms of being a compelling, memorable antagonist from modern popular culture, Terry Silver deserves a place right up there with the likes of Darth Vader and the Joker.
💯 I totally agree!
What About M. Bison.
