if im not mistaken, lava surge also makes your lava burst instant cast. it is incredibly satisfying and useful when you need to move. i spent most of my career maining a resto shaman and i love shamans even if they really removed most of the totems from the game. rolled guardian druid at the start of legion but im leveling up a resto shaman now. shamans are such a great class i encourage everyone to play one if they can
I actually miss the more complex totem gameplay. I've stopped playing my Resto/Ele shaman mostly since they started pushing totems off onto the sidelines. Being able to select which totems I wanted, and putting them together into interesting buff combinations depending on what I was fighting was a really unique way to interact with the game that no one classes had. Now it's basically just a one-button drop that gives some generic +stat buffs.... Kinda sad to see it so horribly dumbed down.
Nice overview, resonates pretty much exactly with what I experienced with my shaman. It's a lot of fun, fits my playstyle perfectly (it feels fast, you've always got something to do and those juicy juicy sfx). I started out with enhancement and it was a lot of fun until they kinda reworked the talents. I switched to elemental and I didn't regret it since. Also some information you missed out (happens ^^): Lava Surge not only refreshes Lave Burst, but it makes it instant cast as well. This feels especially awesome, when you get a double cast of of it. You basically feel like a lava spitting machine gun at this point and paired with the great sounds and visuals this feels amazing! :D Thanks for the great video, Bellular! ^^

That's really mixed to be honest, i mean the Tempest ''nerf/change'' did make it so you lose out off one stormstrike but they ''buffed'' the overall proc rate, im not sure which will be better, their still balancing it but i'm not sure how they will be in 7.2.5, im afraid we're gonna be benched or last in ranking like we are in nighthold according to warcaraft logs. I mean they don't adress enh shamans core problems which is the RNG and our AOE dmg is horrible even if they gave us the shittiest tier set ive ever seen.
see but aoe doesn't matter as much in ToS where it's mostly ST bosses. Ele is in a much worst position going into ToS because we have the WORST ST and everything we do have for ST or AoE is reliant on super lucky procs. For example to have our maximum aoe out put we need 3 low chance procs at once.
I have played all 12 classes now myself, I just got the sham to 110 and some gear, I can say from experience they are the squishies class for no reason.

Dat Malestrom Flametounge tho. Rouges are proud. Very nice video, great concise explanation of the class for players who never played it, or didn't get much into it. Some really good points made, especially regarding Class Fantasy.
The very best thing with healers in wow for me is that thing you touched on - it's more about being intelligent about choices than it is about your HPS or some kind of rotation. Obviously sometimes you do chain properly or try to throughput as much as possible, but you always make choices imo. Now, I like it a lot less in large raids, but otherwise... it's really quite nice.
You always use the very best wow music tracks for your videos. I have zero interest in shaman. Particularly ele. That nagrand music kept me around tho. well played.
Flametounge also stacks up if you use other abilities than lava lash. What i usually do is use flametounge and then rockbiter with crash lightning and use stormstrike until flametounge stacks up 70+ and use lava lash
Ok I just gotta say, really nice review from the perspective that you are doing casual content on elemental, I just had to pause though cause I did a lot of raiding on both specs and say that you kind of have a bit of a casual "rose tint" on the spec. Ele has a lot of stuff going on but movement punishes and getting stuff even slightly wrong is pretty punishing as well. Also LR RNG is going to fuck you sometimes, as will stormbringer for enhancement, even with the new lavalash focus. It does FEEL good to have every proc in the universe rolling until you sit on no procs and realize that RNGesus just gave you a nice pull and that fury warrior or frost mage that was just slightly ahead is now miles ahead on the meters and is doing so while being less punished by their internal mechanics. Im not going to spread more salt but getting into the feedbackloop to blizz with "the class feels fine" when it really isn't really fucks some elemental and enhancement shamans over.
I really like this series Bellular. I think is a really nice way to know kinda indepth of the classes for helping new players choose its class. Looking forward DK and Monk personally. Keep it up!
My only note is that I wish you would have touched more on the artifact weapon abilities, the elemental one mostly as its the only one I don't play and know nothing about. The resto artifact weapon ability is good as well, especially when you get up in artifact levels and can have the ability use 2 times in quick succession. I know you said your luck on legendary items is bad but a subsection on those, specifically class/spec specific legendaries would have been nice but over all great video. 8/10

Crashing Storm on its own doesn't do a lot of damage. What it WILL do, however, is make Lava Lash and Stormstrike hit every enemy in a cone in front of you.
Great job once again. Please consider revisiting the Vengeance Demon Hunter once 7.2.5 drops. They're getting huge damage increases that might make them not only great in world content and bosses, but damn competitive in BGs as well

wait on the DK till 7.2.5, frost scythe will be able to proc rime in 7.2.5, it'll completely change the feel of the spec being able to use it and NEARLY abandon oblivion

You mentioned in one line, "Leveling up was a bit difficult, but you don't spend that much time leveling," and while that may be true, World Quests are a lot like leveling. On my enhancement shaman I have to heal myself quite a bit, and even my clothies don't take as much damage, or can heal while dealing damage, making shaman a bit harder in that aspect, and it doesn't go away just because it's 110. I love the enhancement dps, it's fast, it's customizable, and it changes as you go based on procs. It just works a lot better in group content, and is a bit harder when soloing.
He already did but that was a long time ago. Also keep in mind that he has a 21:9 monitor so most of his UI is actually outside of what we're seeing here.

By the way efficiency means that you use few ressource which also include temporal ressource. So basically both type of heals are pretty much as efficient, just one focuses on time and the other on mana. But saying that one is more efficient than the other isn't true (in a general sense).
I cant decide what my next alt will be. My warrior, Monk or Shaman. I have my Paladin and rogue leveled and my paladin geared. This series is helping me a great deal for choosing!

So much is changing for a good amount of specs in the next patch, you might want to wait on the DK as well. I could see doing the warlock since not that much is changing with them. I do love my shaman though, I agree on all counts.
totems WERE the shaman, them taking it away is part of the problem. Sure it was harder but it made the class unique, I LOVED all my totems, now I have what? 4? Same with the druid. Druids were supposed to be made to do a little bit of everything and you HAD to learn "stance dance" switching from cat to bear and then heals when needed within a fight. Now all casters are casters. All tanks are tanks and all healers are healers. All the exact same.

Love the Elemental Shammy but I wish the talents and skills had a lot more alternative abilities that cater towards its RnG , like cast while moving at least like Resto Shammy or maybe just that little more mobility, I say in pvp anyway. Ele Shammy is sick if you aren't being trained at all as well, very silly thing to do letting a Ele Shammy free cast :p
I've always thought the Shaman class as a whole was the best one they "revamped" for Legion. Granted, Enhancement started the expansion really strong and Elemental started really weak (to the point very few guilds across my 3 servers ever wanted an Elemental), but months later and I think Blizzard has done a pretty decent job at evening things out.
I'm a healer main but Resto sham is the only healing class I haven't geared or properly tried this expac. But that's mostly an aesthetic thing because I hate trying to create transmogs for shields RIP
Alannah I got a nice looking lordaeon shield from one of the caverns of time dungeons. Its not shiny and sparkly but it looks like my orc killed a human and took his shield xD
my favourite class since 2.4.3. Love restor and elem so bad, and ench less, but thats only becoase I dont like to play melee. I wish that some day blizzard would make 4th spec for tanking shaman :D

I highly recommend you play the Death Knight as I think you will find both Frost and Unholy fun to play and with unique rotations to them.

Actually, Multistrike was the one modeled after Elemental Overload, which has been a staple of elemental shaman since like... forever

I miss my totems so much, back in wrath and cata I rocked the totems. I even mained my shaman because of how much I liked them

Love the Elemental Shammy but I wish the talents and skills had a lot more alternative abilities that cater towards its RnG , like cast while moving at least like Resto Shammy or maybe just that little more mobility, I say in pvp anyway. Ele Shammy is sick if you aren't being trained at all as well, very silly thing to do letting a Ele Shammy free cast :p

I've always thought the Shaman class as a whole was the best one they "revamped" for Legion. Granted, Enhancement started the expansion really strong and Elemental started really weak (to the point very few guilds across my 3 servers ever wanted an Elemental), but months later and I think Blizzard has done a pretty decent job at evening things out.

I'm a healer main but Resto sham is the only healing class I haven't geared or properly tried this expac. But that's mostly an aesthetic thing because I hate trying to create transmogs for shields RIP
Alannah I got a nice looking lordaeon shield from one of the caverns of time dungeons. Its not shiny and sparkly but it looks like my orc killed a human and took his shield xD

my favourite class since 2.4.3. Love restor and elem so bad, and ench less, but thats only becoase I dont like to play melee. I wish that some day blizzard would make 4th spec for tanking shaman :D
